Hi Jordan. I use your 13 page workout as a guide to help other rec players and myself to develop skills. I make myself available 3x a week. The first 3 weeks nobody showed up, so I practiced my four serves. Then I got one "student", and I've walked her through how to make dinks and how to volley, how to hold the paddle etc. After two weeks, she showed improvement in games, staying in the point longer, making volleys, etc, and another lady is going to join us in our drills on Monday. I'm a beginner with some tennis and ping pong experience, and I started playing just 4-5 months ago. I noticed early on that folks in our small group of players (less than 20) don't get to the kitchen, don't use topspin, don't dink or volley. It was all stay back deep and hit the ball as hard as possible. So I took it upon myself to teach the basics of the game as pros play it, despite not being good at it myself. I scheduled 3 "classes" a week to teach basic skills. As I mentioned, nobody came the first 3 weeks, so I hit baskets of serves. Then I got my first student. I sent her links to CZcams videos and let her choose which one(s) she wants to practice. Eventually I sent her you workout routine, the 13 page pdf, and she wanted to practice that, so that's what we do.
I don't ask for compensation of course. I'm a beginner, not skilled! I am developing some nice serves, though, a topspin, and two screwballs, one high, one low. I also have a backhand slice serve, but haven't got it quite figured out.
I don't know if this is the right place to make suggestions, but here I go anyway.
    1) can you make a general strategy video for rec players? It's one thing to know all the shots, but another to know how to plan your play for a point. I have some strategy for different shots (serve deep and to the backhand, return high and deep for time to get to the NVZ line, dink and volley at the line while looking for a ball to attack). Can you add to that?
    2) I hear all the time about levels of play. 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, etc. How does a player know what level he/she is at??? Could you make a video that answers that?
I use your workout because it is so logical and the explanations of each section are excellent. Actually, yesterday I discovered why I have not been able to return shots at my feet in the transition zone, because I had not been doing what you suggested is necessary, to decide before the ball lands whether to take it out of the air (reach for it), or to step back to let it land and bounce and hit it after it bounces. It means I have to pay attention and be quick! Yipes!

i think there is ONE tip before you get on the court and that is to stretch out, especially calves, achilles, hamstrings before you get on the court....too many quick explosive moves and people end up pulling muscles or worse....get the blood moving before you get the ball moving

This 💯💯💯 . . . . I strained my IT band pretty bad this past yr from playing. The recovery sucks because I'm itching to get back. So the little quick 15 second leg stretches on the side of the court is not enough. A good full body stretch (more emphasis on the waist down) and warm up at home before going for 20 mins. It makes a huge difference, TRUST ME!

Stretching does very little to prevent injury. One would be better suited by doing a dynamic warm-up that includes slower paced movements that mimic the sport. This will get the blood flowing better and warm-up the body.

Thanks Jordan. I teach a lot of beginners. This will be helpful after they've completed their 3rd lesson. Too much to soon does not work. Much appreciated 🙏

Regarding your tip # 13 - find a drilling partner, in our community, a more difficult problem is finding court time! The sport is so popular around here, that even with a pickleball membership to our Parks & Recreation Department, any time the courts are open, there are always more people ready to play than there are spots on the courts. If we were to try just doing drills (even if it was 4 of us on the court), we'd get shouted off!
