  • Exclusively produced for MyCyprusTravel, Kristy Agapiou explores Cyprus and highlights special attractions throughout the island.
This 5 minute video features Larnaca, a quaint seaside city that is known for its ‘Finikoudes’ promenade, an attractive coastline flanked with palm trees. The region is home to famous religious sites including St Lazarus Church, built on top of the tomb of the saint, and Hala Sultan Tekke, the third holiest place for Muslims in the world, which is situated on the banks of a salt lake.

Interesting guide to Larnaca, but I would not recommend to anyone to eat and drink on the seafront, not when far better locations in Larnaca old town, and far more intesresting to explore.
    Places of interest:
    - Larnaca Marina
    - Larnaca Castle
    - St Lazarus Church
    - old town behind the seafront
Finoikoudes lined with dreadful chain eateries and bars and coffee shops. Best avoided. The beach one of the worst in Cyprus.
A pleasant walk along by the sea past Larnaca Castle. But turn around when reach the end, do not continue to McKenzie Beach.
McKenzie Beach a ghetto of tacky bars.
Turn around and walk back, then from Larnanca Castle, head inland to St Lazarus Church and explore Larnaca old town.
    Coffee and eats:
    - Lazaris
    - The Third Room
    - Paul’s Coffee Roastery
    - Koffea
    - Nick’s Coffee Bike
    - Ithaki Garden
Lazaris a bakery cum coffee shop. Food excellent, try the Greek yoghurt with nuts and fruit. Coffee not good. Overlooks St Lazarus Church. Pleasant to sit outside, or would be but for the traffic.
Pedestrianisation of the old town long overdue. Pedestrianise the seafront. Add electric shuttle bus Laranaca Marina along the seafront to McKenzie Beach.
If find Paul’s Coffee Roasters (lovely quiet garden out the back) ask the way to Nick’s Coffee Bike. Otherwise, from Larnaca Marina, head inland past Larnaca Police Station, about five-ten minutes walk on the left. .
The Third Room, try a cold brew coffee cocktail. The guy is amazing. Everything they brew, concoct, own vineyard, winery and distillery in the mountains. A coffee shop during the day, during the evening turns into a cocktail bar.
Ithaki Garden located in a quiet tree lined square but well hidden, access down alleys. Ask at Paul’s Coffee Roasters. Do not even think of weekends, will not get a table. Arrive early, no later than eight, as busy later. Greek cuisine, not Greek-Cypriot.
If find one coffee shop, ask, they will tell you how to find the others. They cooperate with each other.
Cyprus is infamous for bad coffee. Larnaca the exception. A couple of years ago nada, now four excellent coffee shops.
If wish to stay a few days in Larnaca, try Roseum. Located in old town Larnaca, ideal for exploring the old town. Owned by the two brothers who own The Third Room.
From Protaras, local bus to Ayia Napa, alight at top of Ayia Napa International Sculpture Park, walk through sculpture park, exit by bottom entrance, pick up Intercity Bus for Larnaca (ten minutes later than departure from Paralimni), alight Larnaca at sea front. On return, alight at main square (monastery) in Ayia Napa, for return local bus.

I live in cyprus and i have to say, the country is beautiful, but the only issue with the country is the people, they drive like they're by them selves and because everyone is so old fashioned, the country doesn't move forward, its a beautiful country and definitely woth a visit, but living here is pretty boring after a while.
