The Cribs perform Men's Needs from their new album "Men's Needs, Women's Needs. Whatever" live in the studios of 89.3 The Current in St. Paul Minnesota, August 2, 2007. minnesota.publi...
The Cribs are one those bands who, despite the lacking in the vocal department, make great music with great lyrics. They know their limits and i respect that.
First I ever heard of The Cribs, and it was by chance I stumbled on it, CZcams suggested it sometime in 2008, I checked it out, and in a short time The Cribs were my favourite band after listening to other tunes by them. Thank you CZcams 🙂 PS to all those dissing Gary's singing, he got better and better as time passed. He can sing quite high now, like in Summer of Chances from the For All My Sisters record. He can also sing quite well live, when he or his voice isn't tired that is. Ryan's voice also improved but Gary's much more.
Our band actually recorded in the same building their first album was recorded. A tiny 3 story flat in wakefield in the top bedroom. We smoked pot in the "pot loft" where they did and sat on the dodgy yellow chair with "The Disaster" stitched into it. Recorded with nothing more than a drum mic set, a couple of SM57's, a reel-to-reel and a copy of pro-tools
Thank you for one of the most memorable shows, I met such an incredible mind in San Francisco in 2010 we had loving this song incommon and than some brilliant
It's true, they're not the best live when they're in session, but on the stage they are truly immense. Go to a live gig and you'll see exactly what i mean
Probably because the Cribs are really punky. The shouty lyrics are really typical of modern punk, but the actual songs are really indie. Amazing band (Y)
@ispepteid1 the point of the Cribs is that the shitty vocals don't matter. They are highly talented musicians and it's the lyrics that need to be put under the microscope, not the quality of the vocals. It's raw, lo-fi indie music so I guess it fits into the genre. They actually sometimes sound good. That's how I look at it anyway...
@jankhamster Mate, I'd urge you to reconsider that! One of the best live bands I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. They brought the show to us, in true punk spirit!
garys and ryans singing is completely different to anyone else out there thats what makes them fucking great. its showing there punk side showing they know they arent the best singers and they dont give a fuck about that
I listen to grime more times but I stumbled onto this vid, caps for the kids DON'T CHAT SHIT ABOUT A MANS VOICE COS YOU CAN'T MAKE A GUITAR SING LIKE THESE GUYS point fucking made
that's also right the riff is very hard to be played and sing at once........:( but it's all about practice....think about them as they have whole weeks just to play and practice their instruments, because singers don't to other things.......
how are they bad musicians? They're awesome. They're prob not the best instrumentalist, but guitar playing and creativity are 2 different things. With Johny Marr i think the sounds become very tight. Go see them live, im sure ull agree....
Don't think Johnny Marr joins your band unless you've got a bit about you. Shut up to all the one-giggers who've never heard someone with tired vocal chords......
@fucktheutubeusername you are right... they aren't good singers but they sound good (if u get what i mean). the studio version is very cool, here their voices are ... :/
It doesn't work for either Ryan and Gary in this performance, I does look like Ryan is aware of it though, Like when he first starts to sing, he looks a bit unsure. And Gary, doesn't get that hoarseneess that he usually has in this song.
Ciarán Doherty They're great at what they do, and Gary's singing got better the older he got. He can hit some higher notes now. Just cos you don't like or rate a band or artist, doesn't mean they aren't talented. The Cribs are excellent instrumentalists, and they're lyrics are decent, not just all depressing tripe like some bands but meaningful in a lot of ways. I just hope you didn't judge them entirely on this vid, which imo isn't that bad, it got me into The Cribs, this was the first I heard of them and it was just a video CZcams suggested to me back in 2008, so I kinda found them by chance. They quickly became my favourite band for a while, still one of them but there are others now 🙂
They dont need to have range, look at how many shit singers there are in the world who dont play instruments and make shit music. At least these guys know they aint the best singers but they use their musical talent to compliment their not so good voices
The Cribs are one those bands who, despite the lacking in the vocal department, make great music with great lyrics. They know their limits and i respect that.
I like the way the bassist's tee matches the blinds in the background.
They're good singers, baring in mind they are an indie band. The shouting style is what makes them so good. Ryan's accent has done a lot for him.

Thank you for one of the most memorable shows, I met such an incredible mind in San Francisco in 2010 we had loving this song incommon and than some brilliant
Still sounds great doesn't it.
I like this quite a bit. My only complaint is that this was 2007 and I'm not sure I can see them live.
They're playing at SXSW this year I was surprised to find out. So they're still active, you still have a chance.
This wasnt their best live performance ive seen of this, still great though.
Cant wait to see them again in December....!!!
Excelente ! A hug from Brazil !
Dirt 2. Good ol times!
The voices are perfect. I love the sound. Come to Saskatoon!!!!!!!
i love this so much.
love this song!
It's true, they're not the best live when they're in session, but on the stage they are truly immense. Go to a live gig and you'll see exactly what i mean
Playing Dirt 2 again after all these years brought me here.

Probably because the Cribs are really punky. The shouty lyrics are really typical of modern punk, but the actual songs are really indie.

@jankhamster Mate, I'd urge you to reconsider that! One of the best live bands I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. They brought the show to us, in true punk spirit!
I just fucking love them!!!!
garys and ryans singing is completely different to anyone else out there thats what makes them fucking great. its showing there punk side showing they know they arent the best singers and they dont give a fuck about that
who remember this song in DIRT 2?
I truly hate most bands after about 1978
I'm a young guy, but I've just never got into it.
However, the Cribs are really impressive.
Such a great song
they do not sound horrible is just the fact that they're using first class gear and still sound like a college band.. yknw
great guitaring
there probably the most punk sounding indie band there is around at the moment. they remind of the buzzcocks.
@jankhamster Brilliant live, don't kid yourself.
Took me about 2 months to be able to play that riff and sing. So difficult.
..this is the first song I hear when I play dirt 2
gary(bassist) and ryan(guitarist) they're twins
and ross is the youngest brother
Yeah i know she's dating Ryan, doesnt mean that her version doesnt suck compared to theirs
Any guitarist? Is Gary using any effects? How does he get that sound?
Ouais j'aime bien ^^
I listen to grime more times but I stumbled onto this vid, caps for the kids DON'T CHAT SHIT ABOUT A MANS VOICE COS YOU CAN'T MAKE A GUITAR SING LIKE THESE GUYS
point fucking made

holaaaaaa . lead playing while singing !
The fact is they can't sing for shit (they have no range, moreso Ryan) .... but it doesn't matter.. the songs still sound fucking top.
itsn ot boredom its concentrtion haha do u know how hard it must be 2 play tht on the guitar and sing at hte same time :O
@wonderfilworkofwilly noo i love it!!
@DemocraticTwang p.s. which is where they're from.
how are they bad musicians? They're awesome. They're prob not the best instrumentalist, but guitar playing and creativity are 2 different things. With Johny Marr i think the sounds become very tight. Go see them live, im sure ull agree....

@wonderfilworkofwilly i actually like the voices, a lot
falta el raspado en los coros !!
So, is Marr still with Modest Mouse or no?
marr is still in modest mouse. he's in both

@fucktheutubeusername you are right... they aren't good singers but they sound good (if u get what i mean). the studio version is very cool, here their voices are ... :/

by your friends from new york and london.......
MAN SNEEZE! MAN SNEEZE :)
they were just having an off day.
We should not let this bassist alive!!!!

And Gary, doesn't get that hoarseneess that he usually has in this song.
I enjoy this band, but this doesn't compare well to the recording.
Gary has some quality vocal moments. This is not one of those moments.
Did I say I dislike the Cribs?
yeh they sound better on disc lol
Ha, some right fucking weapons on youtube...
the first guy just talk...he does not sing..the second one just screams like a mad man XD WTF??
Whats ur prob
@DemocraticTwang how can you be sure?

DIRT 2
ryan jarman's such a manc :D
Fuming at heardle decades. this song isn't popular enough to be there :(
to be honest, that guitar line is a bitch to play, never mind singing over the top of it...

My dads bff guyss jelous love u ryon

the drummer looks a bit like jimmy carr
I don't understand how people think they are talented... Fair play to them for making money for being shite.
Ciarán Doherty They're great at what they do, and Gary's singing got better the older he got. He can hit some higher notes now.

They dont need to have range, look at how many shit singers there are in the world who dont play instruments and make shit music. At least these guys know they aint the best singers but they use their musical talent to compliment their not so good voices
they r my fav band....still they are not the best singers
