  • When you are deciding to make move somewhere new, it's always a good idea to learn a bit about what is HORRIBLE about that location as well. Knowing the good and the bad will give you the contrast you need to decide if the move to Charlotte North Carolina is right for you!
    In this video we dive deep into the many downfalls of Charlotte North Carolina and why you might consider somewhere else to live. If you're interested in learning about a side by side comparison of the good and the bad, check out my other video linked below.
    Cons of Charlotte:
    The heat and humidity are awful for a solid month and a half in summer. If you shower and walk out the door, you'll be wet again... and it wont be water. On the bright side, your skin never dries out!
    In addition, we have "Fake" seasons! That's right, it could be middle of February and you get a 78 degree day, or middle of summer and it doesn't get over 70.
    In addition to the seasons, we have an entire season dedicated to .... POLLEN!
    Does this mean you get allergies? Why yes it does! Seasonal allergies are common among most people in Charlotte, even for those who never have allergies at any other time.
    We also have creatures....
    There are of course bugs and we have venomous snakes!
    A strange phenomena here in Charlotte North Carolina is the fact that it's hard to find a NATIVE Carlottean.
    Of course with so many people moving here, there is the ever so awful situation known as .... TRAFFIC. The majority of traffic is during commuting hours, and Charlotte Traffic is nowhere near LA, Atlanta or New York... but it certainly grows yearly.
    Of course no amount of infrastructure will prevent BAD DRIVERS!
    Another interesting bit about Charlotte, the people are extremely nice! Everyone is nice! If you are coming from a bigger city, this may shock you to see others helping out, giving advice, or even holding your spot in line. BUT... that's just how we do it in the south!
    In coming here you will also be overwhelmed with food options! There is a new restaurant or bar or coffee shop or other place to go or see EVERY OTHER DAY! Too many to keep up.
    And lastly... Ice Storms! We don't get snow, we get ice. Baton down the hatches and get ready for no work when these blow in.

    I've lived in the charlotte metro area for 25 years and I've never had much of a problem with mosquitoes. I've sat outside and never had a problem with June bugs. We do not have roaches in all our homes either. We do have snakes in the area, but they are not around the houses all the time. Other areas of the US have issues with bugs too.

    • @livingincharlottenorthcarolina
      @livingincharlottenorthcarolina  Před rokem

      You are 100% Right, it certainly depends on location. Many homes closer to wooded areas see more Palmetto bugs. June bugs are also (Luckily) a very short season (basically big beetles). The worst mosquitos are closer to wooded areas and water. So anyone near the many lakes and streams etc in the area will see more. AND mosquitos always find me haha I must be sweet haha

      Charlotte didn't used to be bad until too much exposure has ruined the beauty of it. We didn't move to "just the same" the quality of life has taken a nose dive. We moved to quieter area. Could not take the amount of rude people moving in.

    @maaike3259 Před rokem +2

    Thanks for the video! My family and I want to relocate to the Charlotte area from Florida. I’d say it’s only up from where we are if we move because Florida takes the cake on weird creepy bugs and snakes, natural disasters, stifling humidity 9+ months of the year, terrible drivers, no seasons, not even fake seasons, and completely flat with endless miles of strip malls. Our biggest concern with moving there is crime.

    • @livingincharlottenorthcarolina
      @livingincharlottenorthcarolina  Před rokem +3

      haha O man I can remember seeing my first Banana Spider at my grandfathers in FL.... certainly freaked me out! One thing I can tell you, having lived in a lot of places across the country (including growing up in NY) and I will say Charlotte is one of the safest places I've ever lived. Now every area of Charlotte (and the suburbs around it) have their own crime ratings. BUT a majority of "crimes" are very minor. I live on the north side and we have never had any issues, and have no problem walking alone on greenways etc. The police also patrol greenways on motorcycle. In a nutshell, I would cater a guess Charlotte beats out even Florida cities on crime. :) I'd be happy to connect and walk you through some great spots that might work for you and your family best. SO many options!

      @@livingincharlottenorthcarolina thank you for taking the time to respond! I grew up in CA and have lived in several different states as well and from everything I have researched and trips we’ve made to the area I think NC on the whole seems to be pretty well balanced in a lot of ways. Of course there’s no perfect place anywhere. You’re right that Florida certainly has some dangerous areas, and where we are in SW FL, it is the land of gated communities, a strange concept for most people who didn’t grow up in them. While Floridians seem to love them they offer a false sense of security in a lot of ways but anyway, we’re interested in Ballantyne, Huntersville and possibly the newer Steele Creek area. From my research on crime Ballantyne and Huntersville seem pretty safe. I know every big city has bad parts though so it’s certainly not a problem exclusive to NC or anything.

    • @livingincharlottenorthcarolina
      @livingincharlottenorthcarolina  Před rokem

      @Maaike 100% there is good and bad in every area. I've never been the gated community perso. But do see the appeal. Yes both Ballantyne and Huntersville have a lot to offer. It just depends on what feel and proce range you desire. Ballantyne will be over $650k for most homes and Huntersville you can find similar homes in the $500+ range. Ballantyne is also more built up while Huntersville offers options for a more country feel close to the city. And traffic/commutes are a bit different. If you guys are starting to think about making the move in the next few months I'd love to connect. I also have some amazing agent partners in SW FL I'd be happy to connect you with. We always go to blowing rock North Carolina when we want to escape the heat. It’s a very easy day trip that only takes an hour and 45 minutes to get to. We went in August last year and it was 90° in Charlotte. In blowing rock it was in the low 70s and sunny. Felt like paradise. It’s so hot I don’t go outside some days, which is saying something because I will literally find any way to be outside.

    The pollen in this city is truly a palling. We should all buy stock in Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, whatever allergy medicine you like because we’re basically making the money a lot. It’s so bad that they actually remove the tables at independence Square, which a lot of people just call Trade and Tryon because the pollen is so bad. It gets everywhere and I just hate it.

    No matter where you live at it'll always be something that's why I never had kids because I know that I never wanted to be brought into this world in a negative situation so unless you were born with a whole lot of assets available and hardly any liabilities
    I could have a child or 2 but to be honest with you
    I wouldn't wish stacking the odds against someone coming into this planet to overcome adversity

    Christmas Eve last year was the coldest game in the history of Bank of America Stadium. The windchill was 9°. I always say the weather is schizophrenic. One day it’s on its meds and acting normal and the next day it’s not. Fall fall, and real fall are both great times to be here. And fake and real spring time too. The city comes alive with festivals and people enjoying the hot neighborhoods, no pun intended.
