About the Raag:
Raag Puriya Kalyan is a spellbinding melodic framework in Indian classical music. Belonging to the Marwah thaat, it exudes a captivating aura of introspection and exuberance. This raag is derived from the combination of Yaman and Pooriya Dhanashree or Pooriya. In the descent (avroh) of this raag, after the Uttarang (higher octave) Kalyan ang (Sa' Ni Dha Pa; Ma Dha Ni Dha Pa) is followed by Pooriya Dhanashree ang in the Purvang (lower octave) (Pa Ma Ga Ma Re' Ga Re' Sa) or Pooriya ang (Ma Dha Ga Ma Ga Re' Sa) is taken.
This baithak was held at the initiative of Ved Gupta founder of bazm e Khas foundation live concerts.
