【American Coot】First hunt of the season, coot hunting, processing and cooking for dinner!

Reminder: this video is taken last month while the waterfowl hunting season in California is still open. The season was closed at 01/31.
Have been suer busy lately and did not kick off waterfowl hunting this winter until last month. This was supposed to be a quick run, just checking out spots, and get some coot for dinner. About coot - most of people don't shoot them because first, it is not a hard game - they are everywhere and they don't fly high; and second, it is very hard to get rid of the gamey flavor from coot's meat. In this video I shared two coot dishes including my way of reducing the gamey flavor from the meat. It would have worked much better if you brine it for a longer time. I only treat the meat with milk and beer for about 1.5 hours and it was making a huge difference already. Try them out next season! You wont regret.
