  • I keep seeing people struggling to get transaxle pullies off. Here is a easy way to make your own puller to remove rusted transaxle pulleys on your mower. works for mst, peerless, Spicer, etc.

Can you just use a cut off disk on your grinder to cut the whole thing off?

A little tip if it's being stubborn when your trying to pull it off. Leave the puller bolt tight and smack the head of the bolt with a hammer. I've done several this way and they pop right off. If it's bad rusted, dont use pb blaster. Use WD-40 and let it soak a day or 2

Thanks for the instructions of taking off the pulley. My pulley is in bad shape. Hopefully it doesn't bend when I pull it out.

It makes it so much easier this way. I keep seeing pictures on the mower pages of people hacking the pulleys, beating on the shaft, broken trans cases, etc. So I figured I'd try to help someone out.

Mine had a snap ring. I took that off and tried to pull it as instructed in the video. It just bent my puller. I don’t know if I might have set screw. Do you know where that would be located?

Sometimes there so bad only alternative is to cut them off with cut off wheel. I've also have cut all the pulley off , leaving just that center still stuck on out put shaft. Then I used a 3 jaw puller.
Did you drench it in a penitrating oil?

just may try your way iv used the steering wheel puller but it belongs to my dad and my grand dad may have owned it .... i dont wanna spend money on a puller set with cheap bolts with easy to strip threads ... got steel got plenty of welders.. hard ware store is right down the street
