Actually, most of them are okay with god-like beings. It’s just Lightning, Vaan, and Tidus (to an extent) that had any real bad experiences with gods. (Note that I have no idea about FF 11 or 14)
not sure about 11, but in ff14 a large portion of the story is dedicated to fighting primals (essentialy anything that has been a summon in previous ff titles i.e: shiva, ramuh, ifrit) and ascians ( semi-immortal beings that are pretending to be gods). which is why yshtola keeps saying that these beings are not unlike the primals.

Agree, Lighting did defeated a lots of gods and the first son of her universe creator, and despite how much i like Sephirot from all that cast, Shantotto from FF11 is OP as fuck as it was on the game, these so called gods reborn for good and evil should be no match for them :/

His VA has aged quite a bit. Same goes for Tidus. Ironic because those 2 are the first FF main characters to have VAs and its been more than 10 years since we heard their voices from their original games not counting Dissidia 012

Am I the only one that finds Materia unlikable, she comes off rude and annoying. Spiritus was actually more likable then her for some reason.

Agreed. Cosmos felt very pure and she was the epitome of goodness. Materia on the other hand is selfish, rude and just plain unlikable.
For someone that calls herself the embodiment of Harmony and order, she is the first one to actually threaten Spiritus
@Chunky Tubs - Materia is quite bratty, I think it partially comes from her rookie status...which is funny in hindsight. Both Spiritus and Materia are rookie gods and yet Spritius is the more mature one of the two

Compared to story mode for the original... this really doesn't meet up. The storyline is decent, but I'll just grab my psp.

Zac S LOL no. No character development, simple and expected plot and a stupid way of putting the cutscenes together. And you don't get enough for each character, they left Onion Knight out of the final blows on Shinryuu scene, no mention to Cid or Lufenians in general, and of course, they don't show us why Materia is so mad at Spiritus, so no backstory explained for the gods, basically. These are HUGE mistakes on a script. Still like it, though
The first two were more story based, it was more complex, had a better way of telling the story, it was longer, it had an awesome development for characters that were already developed. The original and 012 were superior, there is no way someone with a criterion could see otherwise. NT is based more on the gameplay than the story, that's what they were selling, and they delivered, but storywise, it's just some very good dialogues and an end for the real villain of the trilogy with an awesome scene (I'm still mad about the Onion Knight being left out).

I really hate how mopey Advent Children Cloud has become the standard version of the character for all the crossover stuff instead of the dopey country boy he was in FFVII. The guy whose battle cry going in to the final bosses is, "Let's mosey!"

Because the Advent Children Cloud is the real cloud, that's why the AC version of Cloud appears in these games. The only reason he acted the way he acts in the FF7 game was because he was copying Zack Fair.
I know they were looking for a simple story for a simple game, but that is... I was expecting more, especially with such an interesting basis to work with. I mean srsly they name the two gods MATERIA and SPIRITUS, so they could have EASILY offered us at least some sort of realistic background to WHY those two entities WOULD fight.
But no what do we get:
Matiera - I got you here against your will to fuel my soulless materialistic world by forcing you to fight and break the emotional bonds with friends you made and constantly relive the emotional scaring you experienced through facing your respective nemisis in repetitive combat. And I offer you nothing in return suckers. :)
Spiritus - I AM THE KING OF THE WORLD!! The world is a dark cruel place, AND I AM THE CRUELEST SOURCE OF EVIL SO I RULE IT ALL MUAHAHAHAHAHA--- Oh, and I got me these dudes and gals here to... dunno... keep me company? D: I am pretty lonely.

Couldn't you just give us two gods who struggled with the essence of their beings that were so naturally opposites?
Materia - the goddess of creation who builds the world based on calculations and a clear formula, upholds the rules of existence which are balanced within those set rules of nature where everything is bound and related to each other. (why not call it the essence of science)
Spiritus - the god of life who lives outside of matter, who seeks freedom in a world without boundaries and rules because the spirit or mind exists on a plane of self-consciousness that in itself is can be without the definition of others. (or just call it faith, hopes, dreams or just raw emotion)
See? It ain't THAT hard and it doesn't even involve the god damn dragon yet.
So far the interactions between the characters are very rewarding, though a little more would have been nice, yet again because we COULD have had a promising core of conflict. I mean seriously, what's more interesting that dividing your heroes and antagonists aside from their respective roles based on their personal values, which are either based on the needs of the many/the world or on the needs of the few/individual.
In terms of visuals I can't complain about the scenery or the summons, they all look bloody badass. The graphics overall are just on point, perhaps the animation of the models during cutscenes could have been slightly more refined though I don't wanna start nitpicking.
I am a big fan of Spiritus' design, though his first impression was just as horrific as EVERYTHING that is Materia, it certainly had promising angles every now and then, such as him accepting some of the heroes of light to visit him in his domain without conflict. Materia however... from her visual design to personality... I just get the urgent desire to destroy everything just out of pure self-preservation. Whoever designed her really needs to get his head out of his own ass and start learning the arts of character creation from the get go. They were clearly unsupervised for too long.
The gameplay? AWESOME. (that's all)

The prior games indicate this had happened before behind the scenes. Prior lore would make this based on the 15th cycle. There might have been some ennui that bled into their metaverse. (Go read DC Comics, it's well discussed in recent material.)

I never beat this game, mostly because I got stuck on the boss fights of each pathway. -_- So I appreciate this upload immensely.

The ending after killing Shinryu was a bit meh for me in this.
The gods in this were okay. Spiritus i liked more. Seemed wiser where Materia was a bit aloof but meant to do good.
I really hated how they portrayed Kefka though. Really grinded my gears on basically making him a fucking literal court jester vs anything actually terrifying.
Kefka was if not the first FF villian to actually win against the good guys in ff6. He was terrifyingly goofy but not a punch line unlike here.
I think some of the earlier Dissidias showed a better light of him.

It's $10 shy of a normal $60 price, and really isn't worth that much. The game is even more shallow than the story. Trust this gamer's buyer's remorse and just replay Duodecim

There is nothing wrong with characters from final fantasy dissidia especially dissidia nt and there is nothing wrong with materia . besides if you mean comment makers still choose to say mean stuff about some of the characters, especially materia then either you don't watch these CZcams videos or don't say anything about it at all.

Square Enix always one up themselves. At least they usually do, but I dunno the fighting system for this game was HELLA downgraded, compared to the last 2 games. Nonetheless, at least they made a new Dissidia and I'm hella happy about it because you don't see PSP titles being brought back AT ALL, except if they originally weren't psp titles to begin with
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS, I swear, after playing the first two, the fighting mechanics in this seem like one hell of a downgrade! Bravery attacks and HP attacks all feel the same, the jump and fly movement feels awkward, and the battle screen is extremely convoluted. Only part of the fighting I like more than the first two are the summons.
So was there an actual ending to this game or did I just miss it; i feel like this game, while good, was just missing something
:)) This is, essentially, an arena fighting game. The story of Dissidia is about Light vs Darkness and this series explore the grey area between the two of them. I think the ending showed us that when times are dire, Darkness can become Light and vice versa.

Compared to Duodecim the story is trash.
It also cheapen's 012's ending.
The story of Cosmos and Chaos, the Warriors of Harmony and Discord and the story that surrounded them and their desperate bid to return to their respective worlds came off as genuine and true.
To make things worse this shit retcons the secret ending of Duodecim by having Shinryu still be alive.
He was supposed to have been killed and consumed by a feral Chaos in the game's true ending but here it is now eating worlds for some reason.
Not to mention the the roles are completely reversed!
The champions NEVER had fond feelings for this world. Only terrible memories of never ending conflict and enslavement. They loathed it as it was essentially an eternal prison that forced them to fight on endlessly to feed the cycle. A cycle created BY Shinryu.
It makes no sense as to why the Champions would want to protect it and it makes even less sense as to why Shinryu would want to consume it when it NEEDS the world to exist so it can continue to feed on the cycle of conflict. Not to mention the world shouldn't even fucking exist anymore since Cid is supposed to be fucking dead.

Perhaps, but I like how much personality they gave to the characters.
Marcos Severini they have all their memories back, so they are the more developed versions of themselves from both their games and the last two Dissidia titles. It makes the story campaign more enjoyable in spite of the its shortcomings to justify itself.
