- We checked off a major bucket list item and explored a ghost town for the first time! Animas Forks is located 12 miles away from Silverton, CO down a 12 mile very rocky road into the San Juan Mountains. At over 11,000 feet of elevation, this abandoned mining town was once one of the highest towns in the nation. There are 10 buildings remaining including the mine! We explore all of them.

Thank you for filmkng this! I have ancestry that worked there in the boarding house according to a great grandmother years ago! I dont have documentation of it but have always wanted to go there . Probably wont get to so thank you, thank you for sharing!
Great video. I stayed there in 1967 the year I graduated high school. I stayed in a one room cabin with a pot belly stove for 4 days. I was there a few years ago. I found the cabin, but the stove was gone. The building next door was haunted. There were some miners working a mine about 500 feet up the other side of the valley. It was a silver mine. Thanks for the memories.
Im glad to see they are keeping these old ghost towns. We use to go to Animas Forks years ago. Its a Marmot like a ground hog. Lol😅
You take us on some great adventures. Thanks for sharing.
That was awesome to see the old buildings and to imagine what it would have been like to be there back then.
We loved that some of the buildings came with stories to put life there into perspective. Waking up to those mountains every day would be a dream come true. 😌
We stumbled onto a video of yours - We Love to Watch & started bingeing today - we think your great with sweet spirits and old souls
Thank you! Welcome to the channel!
It's quite possible that one of the cabins at the end of the video is Bonnie Belle Cabin.
Gorgeous! Y'all slept way up there! Be careful around old mines, though - they are way dangerous ...
That will be our most memorable free campsite. I am surprised all are allowed to explore on their own in some of those buildings.
Y’all - chipmunk
Hey guys!! Love the vibe of this video - the music choice was 🔥 Imagine buying a house for $110!? Also had no idea that hole was going to be for a wood burning stove. I would have screamed if I saw that rat 😂 Hope your foot is feeling better 😌 We love off-roading and using bigger cars - they’re perfect for those roads! Thanks so much for the great video guys - new friends here!! Em + Tom
Thank you so much! The drive out, learning some history behind the town and then exploring the old homes and mine made for a complete adventure.
@@SOSASATSUNRISE totally agree! Can’t wait to see more of your adventures guys - love finding and supporting channels like ours ☺️
First, are you serious that that place is also called Kalamazoo? I need to know more about that.
Second, you were in a creepy old ghost town, but scare of the cute little critter?
That little critter was cute! We did not want to touch it thought and after hearing all the squeaking in the walls... there was definitely more than one. 😬
It is a Pack Rat...
Kalamazoo stands for “Running Water”. I’ve heard?
I think you could be right! Makes sense 😃
Mispronounced “Ouray.”
😭 We did our best.
Stop exploiting these places for a few views
Exploiting how?
Not exploiting, I'm glad they do this for the people that would never have a chance to see it.
