A 2-hour movie production couldn't tell this story any better.
Or put such vivid images in your brain
REN is a pro at leaving us speechless, laughing, crying and everything in between ❤
He definitely left us speechless on this one!!
@@dna2001 Ha Ha , Yer a RENegade Now.
Congrats
Wait til You see Baby Ren from 14 yrs ago when this Story started
Have Fun
True story. I cry on some of Ren's art-- it's art-- every time I hear those songs. And I'm a 50 year old geezer. Crying shows you have empathy which means emotional intelligence. At least that's what I tell myself every time I wipe tears from my eyes....
Fun fact: Jenny's Tale was based on an article he read in the news about a street walker who was killed. The police were quoted as saying "what a shame", hence that line. But Screech and Violet's Tale were all Ren's doing! And were actually done later, in separate videos. He's such a master at his craft ❤
Wow, that is crazy! He is sooo good, we can’t wait to hear another one by him! Thanks for the fun fact😊
It was a few months later after Jennys tale that Screeches tale came but it was nearly 2 years later before Violets tale was released tying it all together. Masterpiece. After the final twist you are left with another shock as you realise that Jenny was 14 in highheels walking the streets and all that implies.
It will never get old to me seeing peoples faces hearing the twist at the end. It’s so cool seeing people finding Ren still.
You understand that Shakespeare was known as "The Bard" . This is why we called Ren, "Bard-core"- he can tell a story. I live in a tough part of London - and this is a very real tale from the bottom end of London.
He was born in Bangor in North Wales
Ren wrote this song because it's the kind of subject matter that is usually kept quite or swept under the carpet.... and that actually allows it to continue - it's easier to ignore things that aren't talked about. Good reaction!
Very true!
I 1st came across Ren about a year ago. My response was why I hadn't heard of him .Seeing as I'm British and Live on the same Island. A Lady responded very Kindly. And informed me he was an independent Artist from Brighton England 🏴. I jumped in with both Feet.and Enjoyed it all.
That's the thing with independent artists, that is not that easy for them to get widely known.
@6alcantara When I was growing up there were alot of independent Record shops ( Yes I'm old .) and smaller Record Lables .So we Listened to a far wider Range of Music .Then slowly the bigger music Lables Took over and Limited your music choice. The Internet I believe is starting to open up again. Obviously I'd give anything to be in Brighton on that street Ren or The Big Push .were performing Live.
Don’t want to be pedantic but he’s Welsh from the Isle of Anglesey. He moved to Brighton later in life.
@stevereid1673 He'd been in Brighton for years when I 1st became aware of him .of course I know he's from Wales now
@@user-ze5tu4ck1t I’m English, my Welsh friends like to remind me where he got his talent from. 👍
Ren was asked what genre he should be in and he called it "Bardcore". A cross between a medieval minstrel and a modern rapper. I think that's the perfect word for it.
"I don't know if I liked this" is the best reaction ever. SUBBED.
A Three Act Shakespearian Tragedy. Now you see Ren's roots. His parents used to take him to many of the small music and theatre weekend festivals common in Britain. Where he was exposed to theatre, dramatic to comedies, music, circus performers, Bards and Wondering Minstrels. I still go to them not just Glastonbury but every village in London. In London in the summer there is one every weekend. Many are free.
A tough one but a great one ,well done ladies even us "big tough men" shed tears to this one lol 👌
every.single.time!
@@davidperkins6752 💯 lol
Perfect reaction. Don't worry about being speechless we've been their ;-) and I if you watch it again you'll understand all link and trait that tied those story, this is a truely genius level story.
The look on ur faces at the end when it hit u is priceless. Thats why I love watching people react to this song. Thanks for the dopamine rush. Needed that today!!
Me too that's the best part to me
A genuinely lovely reaction. Just to show you that Ren can make you smile as well as break your heart, I recommend reacting to one of his fun songs like “Bongo Bong” with The big Push (if that doesn’t put a smile on your face, nothing will!😀)
brilliant recommendation and i would also add "what kind of woman is this" by the big push for another fun sound!
New member - welcome to the RENaissance, Ladies! ♥ NOW you need something fun from Ren. May I recommend either _Losing It_ or _What You Want_ or even the _Love Music_ quadrilogy?
Ren said during the phone parts of Screech's tale somebody yelled out a window "Shut the fuck up!" so they had to redo the whole thing being 1 take and all
Ren calls this style of just him and a guitar "bardcore"
Haha that’s great 🤣
He also said there was a previous take where at the end of Violet's tale just as he walked round the corner it started to rain, a very fine misty rain which Ren said looked amazing, unfortunately someone shouted out a window and they couldn't use it. Not sure how many takes this one took but I know" money game "took over 140.
@@panchomcsporran2083 thats too bad, that would have been visually amazing for the song
Bottom End - used to live there myself.
@@panchomcsporran2083 Wish he would release some of these takes anyway.
It is so important that you showed your emotions and your cry. It helps people. Be always genuine and do it like you want to do it and your channel will be fine.
Jenny had traits of her mom and Screech had traits of his dad
As an antidote to this song try the stereophnics 'all in one night'. Like REN they are welsh, and weave a great story in a great song. You won't be sorry ladies
If you do react to this song, try the live version, thanks for your time and effort ✊🏼❤️
Jenny wearing high heel shoes ”walking the street like a thousant nights before” at 14 says a lot. - and staying passive and silence when approached just lik her mom. While Screech is angry and violent just like his dad, even though they were separated at birth going into forster care. Mind blowing! Ren is the king.
this is a Masterpiece
If your not affected by that story, your not much of a human being . The interesting thing is some of the most important facts he never tells you ,he allows the facts reveal themselves after the initial shock wears off , like Jenny is only 14 as well as Screetch and its not until Violets tale do you understand her quietness . It is a tale of generational trauma that has sparked thousands of conversations about D.V. and S.A. and fuled the healing of many . It also disseminates the understanding that the way you treat your wife will also affect your children and their children .
First time on your channel! Definitely subscribing! I found Ren a year ago, and I still cannot get enough. I really hope you'll go down his rabbit hole. He's got a huge catalog. And lots of collaborations. And he was in 2 bands, Trick the Fox, before he got sick, and The Big Push, after his stem cell transplant. They were together until he left for Canada for more medical treatment. He was there all of 2023 and I think he has a few more months left.
Thanks for subbing, and thanks for all the recommendations!!! We have a few other Ren reactions already if you wanna check them out. Yeah after this one though we may need to see a lighter side of him haha
@@dna2001 I'll go check them out! The Love Music series (1-4) are fun and light!
Your stunned silence spoke volumes. Great reaction you two!!
The beauty of your hands over your mouths in horror is something that struck me so strongly. As someone who has experienced Violet’s abuse, your reaction actually helped heal me because of the horror you showed. Thank you. 🩵🩵🩵
I’m so sorry that you have experienced violets abuse first hand. No one should ever have to experience that, but unfortunately it happens too often. I am truly grateful you are here and glad that our reaction has helped you heal. 💜-Dallas
Small here, not quite as bad, but my ex would routinely wake me up and lay into me. The laying still, as there is nothing to be done, hits home.
Ren got the idea for Jenny tale from news paper he read about a 14 year old boy that kill a young streetwalker with Knife
Fair warning... Ren has made me cry more than any other artist and I'm 57 and have heard it all. He just finds a way into the feels. He's also made me snort laugh so it evens out.
Great reaction Ladies. I think REN’s performance was Epic in this trilogy. How he paints the characters in our minds is mesmerizing. We feel our “feels” every time. If you want a happier Ren, please react to The Big Push band, “I Shot The sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop” covers. In this video, Ren is wearing Red Suspenders.
Do you know how many times I cried over people’s reactions to this, for 2 1/2 years daily, some hit me some don’t, and it happened on this one . Great reaction ladies
It’s like a Shakespearean tragedy.
he does the rewind sound on guitar to go back in time then later does it forward go come to present time
Gj. You girls rock. More Ren please.
Nice job, ladies. This is one of my favorite reactions to these songs, and I've seen at least 100 reactions. Keep doing Ren, and I'll subscribe. I see you did "The Hunger" which I'll watch next. One of my favorites of his. You also need to do his stuff with his band "The Big Push".You will be blown away. And if you want to be different than most other reaction channels, you should check out his even earlier stuff of his band "Trick the Fox". I am OBSESSED with Ren and reactions to Ren. I'm definitely a SUPER Renegade.
We ALL cry. 🥺💜
In answer to why we are talking about it. Well first - that's what Ren does, he creates a space where people can talk about the topics that as society, we like to push into the corner, and pretend it's not happening. Second - now that you know who Jenny and Screech are, and you already knew Screech was 14 (which by the way is why Violet's story is set in 2005) - then you also now know that Jenny is also 14. Which makes you question a 14 year old girl, walking the streets like she has "a thousand times before", wishing she could escape, wearing high heeled shoes, apparently looking much older to the point where Screech refers to her as a lady, not as a girl - when he is trying to get Patrick to open the door. Jenny... was sadly, very likely a girl of the streets. This is a story of intergenerational abuse. In the same way that Violet picked a partner that treated her the same way as her Dad did, there is a very good chance that Violet's mother (a drinker) - probably did the same thing. Although you need to be a resident of the UK to know this next bit - it's important that you do - Violet moved at 16 and got a council flat on a welfare scheme, that doesn't happen here because of a major housing shortage - in order for a 16 year old to get a council flat - she was already pregnant when she left home, which means before she met Stevie. So there is an extremely good chance that Jenny and Screech's father is in fact not Stevie, but Violet's dad. This would of course also shed a bit of light on why Stevie was calling Violet a "little liar". Thanks for the reaction.
...which might shed a bit o' light on Richard.
Thank you 🙏❤ D'N'A ❤ for your 🐷 Ren - ❎❎🎸🎺🏥🔪 The Tale of Jenny and Screech reaction! #ren #taleofjennyandscreech #violetstale
Great Reaction ladies, subed for much more Ren!
Nice reaction . Thanks
Hey ladies! I'm enjoying watching you take the Ren journey! Please consider reacting to the song "Chalk Outlines" Live with Chinchilla. It showcases his beautiful voice and it's just the two of them with an electrical guitar accompanying them. Have a great one!
Chalk outlines is on our list coming up soon! 😊
Thanks! Love your reactions!
Thank you 😊
If you want to see a different side of him check out back on 74/Message in a bottle and Fred again mash up. Totally different but you'll love it.
I do believe that you guys would love this song and I love to see a reaction video from you guys❤️🙏 its a song called...immortality by the bee gees featuring Celine dion 👍
great reactions to this trilogy. i love how ren was able to tie in the whole story with the very last line "a girl named jenny and a boy named screech.
This is the first REAL reaction I’ve seen of this and I’ve seen them all! The men don’t get it on this level . So it’s good to see women reacting as we all do to this. This is about generational trauma! You were right to feel sorry for Screetch he was so broken at aged 14, and being a street walker aged 14 as they were twins! Their father would have gone to jail for murder of Violet and so the care system which is broken let the children down! Screech needed up like his father and Jenny silent like her mother! Ren got the idea from a story in the news of a young killer and all the paper could say was “it’s such a shame” it’s why Ren says it at the end of Jenny tale…they should have said something about how the care system is broken and had let so many children down who most would come with trauma! Well done girls👏👏👏👏🔥
Just for yourself. Check the 360 version. He says what he was thinking when writing this
❤from North East England ❤️
I have everything to say and nothing at all to say. I was not expecting or prepared for this. To start I get why so many people love Ren and why he blew up. Talented is an understatement. This dude is a musical genius, a poet, a great vocalist, storyteller, etc. I saw people mentioning bardcore and in this series I definitely see it lol
So I don’t remember what it was, it was a while ago on one of your posts I think that Charlotte and I were talking vaguely about our lives and specifically abuse. Didn’t go into detail, nor am I here. But this hit hard with myself and another person that I knew. I felt so many emotions watching this. Mostly anger and sadness. I was crying while my fist was balled up covering my mouth, my jaw clenched really tight and probably had a very pissed off expression on my face. After I watched this I got up and paced around my apartment for a while. I don’t do it on command it just happens when I’m angry or have major anxiety. And as strange as it sounds, it made me happy that I watched this. Obviously his talent and everything else, but because I was able to feel something and let those emotions out instead of bottling it up like I’ve done most of my life. This was incredible. I am speechless. I have a lot to process with this. But it was SO GOOD. I am officially a Ren fan.
Hey Becca, I'm so sorry what you have went through but I'm glad this song/video was able to help in some way, even if just in a small way😊 And I definitely love hearing you are an official REN fan now💜 --Dallas
Ren said he wrote these because the consequences of violence are never published and people just tend to gloss over the stories because there are so many of them.
Dammit, had to sub. More Ren!
take note of how the original two songs both start and end with the same repetition, "It was a clear dark night..." and "Our story, it [starts], right at the [end]", and of course, how they both end with the quote from that article "It's such a shame". even with just the first two, he was already pointing out that these stories happen over and over, and that we, as a society, fail to offer anything but our condolences after the fact. Which makes it all the more impressive when, two years later, he added Violets tale, continuing his theme of the repetition by not only starting that song with the end, and repeating it three times, but also the genius way he managed to do it to the entire saga by making the end the beginning, and the beginning the end. Everyone gets caught up in the generational aspect of it, but Ren's real message was so much more than that. He wasn't just pointing his finger at DV and generational trauma, he was pointing it at all of us as well.
Honestly one of the most hearl-felt reactions to the Tales. Ren blew your mind. Now yoiu need to react to Ren's awesome song 'Suicide'!
Aww thank you, yeah this one really got to us! He’s so good 😊🤯
The first time I saw this i felt like i was an eye witnessed several crimes 😢 loved your reaction thanks 😊 subbed to continue on this journey with you ❤ from Australia 😊
He really makes us feel the trauma in the life of these characters he has created
Life can be tragic and it is a shame😢
Subscribed for more ren and one of the bands he was in called the big push. I strongly recommend ren: spontaneous stream jam. Its another long one like this but so so worth it. I think you guys will love it ❤❤❤
A new subscriber here, joining to be with you on your Ren journey, if you're impressed with his talent so far you've just scratched the surface. His work with his band The Big Push, and duets with Chinchilla, Bibi and Sam Tomkins will just blow your mind, he goes unique covers and clever, insightful original songs covering so many styles and instruments, he plays Acoustic and Electric Guitars, Bass, Piano and even the drums (a little bit), songs like Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me, Suicide, Mackay, Watch Out, I Shot the Sherif/Road to Zion/Hip Hop, Bongo Bong, Wade in The Water, Back on 74 and so many more
Well done ladies, this masterpiece is tough on the heart 🙏😔
My first reaction (40 or so back now 🤦♀️😜) was identical. Much love & subbed from down under ❤
17:02 yup. That's the look.
Loved your reaction 👏👏
I’m sorry, but the looks on your faces is priceless. Lol
His storytelling is A+ level genius. Talking about the abusiveness that most people don't think goes on but violence is an infection that goes through generations...generational sin. This song/story takes a lot of unpacking to fully understand so no worries at all on how you reacted. The rawness of it is exactly how we all felt the first time. Oh my heavenly Lord is about right. lol Love it!!
You;re a great duo and loved your reactions! Ty for sharing 😊😊
Great reaction 👍
Liked & subscribed in anticipation of you reacting to more Ren
Cheers 🍻😀
Great reaction ❤
I love how you both done the exact same head tilt at the beginning of Jenny’s Tale 😂
Great reaction guys, I love watching reactors, because it’s as though I am experiencing it all for the first time again, vicariously through you guys ❤
Haha! We did didn’t we. I didn’t even realize we did that!
Thank you so much for watching! We appreciate you and your kind words! 😊💜-Dallas
“Huh” is the best reaction I’ve ever seen 😂 I love it so much!
Great reaction to this tough one ladies.
Genius way of presenting the reality of generational violence and the repercussions of it in the lives of those involved!
I’m glad I found your channel, great reaction!
I've just come across your channel while looking for reactions to Ren, and you now have a new subscriber in me... 😊
Also, just so you know, Ren loves the reaction community so you dont have to pause with his videos just to appease the CZcams copyright laws, and if you do get a video blocked, just appeal it and itll be sorted out...
Enjoy the rabbit hole!
Just a masterpiece!
I love your reactions....God Bless you both.,
Great reaction - you have a new subscriber. Having looked through your previous videos it's clear that you like unique and powerful voices. I have a suggestion for you.....try out Nightwish. Specifically their live version of the song Ghost Love Score from the Wacken festival in 2013. It's easy to find as it is the number one reacted to song on CZcams. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Ya ladies are adorable 😊
Ren & Falling in Reverse is my Favorites. Recommended Falling in Reverse "Last Resort Reimagined "
Thank you for reacting to this, like really reacting to it. It's intense, and this story of generational abuse happens all the time. It's so important that it's acknowledged rather than avoided or pushed to the back of our minds because it's so unpleasant. So thank you for sharing.
Omg! I've seen sooo many reactions to this trilogy, but you're the first to make me cry on the first one! I'm an empath, so seeing your face start to crumble had me blubbering, damnit! ❤ loved your reaction
the sirens of the police being equated to the wail of a banshee are a foreshadowing... traditional folklore holds that when you hear the lament of a banshee, your life will end within a couple of days.
Love ya ladies..had to sub and thanks for the great reaction! He’s a special guy honestly, in my opinion a prodigy. So much talent..thank you again❤
Awe thank you so much! He is just so amazing! Thanks for watching! 🥰 -Andrea
@@dna2001 absolutely 💯 I’m Jevon but sounds like Kevin lol. I get asked a lot, anyway take care and watching music with you guys seems like I’m just chillin with friends. Keep it going! Much ❤️
Love that, thanks Jevon!!! 😊
My understanding is that Ren did these 3 tales to bring awareness to domestic violence
I remember how hard it was to watch the first time; thanks for sharing your reaction.
Great reaction!
Awesome reaction ladies and welcome to the Ren Rabbit Hole. You will no doubt get a few of us 'Renegades' re-inforcing that big reveal point in case any other viewers miss it... that Screech killed Jenny, his own sister.
I love your accents.... I'm an old Cockney from the east end of London so to me it sounds divine... keep up the good work ladies your videos are great
Haha well thank you so much!! 😊-Dallas
Excellent and very genuine reaction.
Not sure if anyone has suggested it, but his song that he did with an artist named Chinchilla is my #1 favorite song which is called "Chalk Outlines". The topic they sing about is something that I went through personally many years ago ( BTW, I'm 50). He put into words how I felt back then, something I was never able to do.
Subed for more Ren!
❤
I cried too😊❤
You 2 ffs awsome to meet you even if . Thank you for being raw from UK
Ren is ewrythng 🪄🎼✨💯 🤘😊👍💙🇫🇮
Great reaction. Keep up the good work.
Gotta say, ladies... I usually hate watching women reactors, despite being a woman myself, but I love y'all! Great reaction. Reminds me of my first time watching The Tales 🥺
Aww well that really means a lot 🥹
Thank you so much for commenting. Video was definitely hard to watch.! ( Andrea )
Screech kills his own sister, not knowing she was his sister. And let's not forget that Jenny was walking back to her home like she did plenty of times, in high heel shoes, which gives an idea of what her life was. Both were 14.
This song can easily be described as "the circle of violence".
As for more songs, you have tons.
"How to be Me" and "Chalk Outlines" both with Chinchilla (terrific singer as well), you have "Humble" and "Ocean" both with Eden Nash (another amazing singer). Then you have "Dominoes" and "Suicide", both will destroy you. "Money Game", a 3-part song. There is songs with this band "The Big Push".
You are in for an amazing ride.
New subscriber here! I love you girls ! I am a huge Ren fan too ! 😊
Thank you for the support!!! Yes Ren is great!
Your faces say it all. Great reactions! Thx❤
Glad you enjoyed it!!
You guys have such a beautiful friendship. I love how funny, kind, and wholesome you both are. Y'all are like the only reaction channel that ever makes me laugh out loud during the videos, like when Jenny's tale was done and the one on the right (sorry I suck with names) was just like "huh", that little interaction was so funny to me 😭❣
Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate it! We try to always be our true authentic selves! Thank you so much for being here and supporting us! It means a lot! 😊😊-Dallas (the one on the left 😉)
Another really good song about similar heavy subject matter is "Lesley" by Dave. It's also a very narrative driven piece.
Gut wrenching and visceral but an important topic that happens every day. Thanks. ❤💜💙. Another series that is not as heavy but iconic is his Money Game 1, 2 (lyric video only) and 3. Separate songs, not a trilogy. MG3 has won some awards already.
I ❤ your reaction girls. Fabulous!
Thank you for this video.
No matter how many times I hear Ren, he always has me in tears.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say IMHO I think Ren is the most important person to happen to music in a long time.
A true Greek tragedy. Shakes the soul
The amazing thing is that it all comes into focus....only on the last word said, "Screech". Then you understand the whole trilogy.
