There's footage out there of Genesis playing the Mike Douglas show (mimed performance) and Phil remarks that he's so used to having his percussion tools standing close so he has something to do with his hands but for that performance he only has the mike stand, nothing more.

Guys if you like Phil's music, check out his Genesis work, this guy is offfff the chart he had power vocals and he made drums cry because he was playing hard and fast , not four four lazy beats, this guy was doing off beats and 9/8s on a chickens lip, check it out
