  • "The cove", Coppinger Cove, TN is known to be one of the best off road destinations in the southeast, maybe anywhere!! This trip we return to the Cove, and thought we were ready as we had been there before. But wow, the water was unreal!! You like swimming your truck across the river? Then this is for you!!!

    Wow, great video. That trail looks intense. I've seen rivers affect a vehicles path before but that last crossing clip at the end looks like full on floatation!

      It was. That's how we started day 2. All the water we already had and then it rained heavy all night. Left us trapped in camp fora while that day.

    Damn that looks like some great wheeling, but man that's some deep water!!!

    I’m from East Tennessee and visit family there a couple times a year. Will have to check this out in the Bronco

      One of my favorite spots ever. A lot of the trails that we ride are either next to, or are now part of Coalmont OHV park. So you might check them out as well.

      It's very close to Chattanooga. Also look up coalmont OHV park. It connects through the cove.

    Dang, dude. That water crossing looked like it had a little "pucker" factor to it!

      Which one? The water was deep and was moving pretty good all weekend, but after all the rain that night day 2 was nuts.

      Well, lots got water logged... The throw out bearing is still making all kinds of noise, and the winch controller has sh!t the bed, so I need to order a new relay block for it. I also replaced the starter, alternator and battery after the trip, me out still smells like mildew so I need to pull out the flooring and clean it good. But... No major mechanical failures was good!

      @EverymanOverland WOW! Don't you wish you were wheeling in the desert, haa! Well I hope everything works out and the mildew gets cleared out you may have to wash the carpet if you have one, take your time, and I wish ya the best!

      It was deeper on day 2. Ya. It was nuts. The guys I was with have been wheeling there for 30 years, and they said that was as deep as they'd ever seen it.

      @@WolfOverland that was good times. A good friend of mine just sold his single can tundra that was on 37s. I loved that truck, LOVED it! But it was just too big for a lot of the trails here in the southeast. I watched him do a lot of damage in a day we spent at Windrock. I was really tempted to buy it, but didn't want the body shop bill all the time.

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  Před 4 měsíci

      Luckily there weren't too many bugs on that trip. There were some by the cave, but mostly they left us alone... Or maybe we just spent all the time in the trucks with the windows up hiding from the water?

    Bet youre glad you fitted that snorkel 😆
    Some serious water crossings, Ive crossed stuff nearly that deep in the FJ and she was starting to float and heading downstream. You must be carrying a bit of weight in there! Good job anyways 👍
    Look forward to the next day, bet its going to be fun.

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  Před rokem

      Ya, it's not all that floaty when the water is slow, but when the water gets moving you can feel the truck being redirected... And yes... I was very thankful that I installed that snorkel!

    Whats up Chris... is this place still open? The week after y'all went it got posted as "permanently closed" on OnX but who knows and I don't know if I want to drive to TN to find out (even though AOP is basically next door to it). Also, that lexus needs to talk to chad for some bumper action

    • @EverymanOverland
      @EverymanOverland  Před rokem +1

      Yes it's still open as far as I know. I have a few friends that are going up there this weekend. I know it's contested currently, and at least two of the entrances are in danger of being closed, but it's my understanding that they are public roads and therefore it's not legal to gate them closed. But, worst case scenario, coalmont OHV park is right there, and the trails all connect. So you could purchase entrance to coalmont and then just drive back into the cove.

      @@EverymanOverland Just wanted to say that we've recently been fighting the "they are public roads and therefore it's not legal to gate them" battle down here in AL for a road in the Talladega National Forest so stay vigilant. If anyone tries to gate a public road please fight back in court!
