  • ‪@MotionRaceworksOfficial‬ This should be a huge step up in our program! We linked up with TBM to get us some lightweight, low drag racing brakes for the front of the hot rod! Super pumped to get these things installed. Tonight we do some of the basic leg work prior to putting them on the car. This quality is second to none, and looks awesome. Doing the no prep stuff, we really need to pull some weight off the front of the car so this is gonna be a drastic step in the right direction. Go check out TBM's website to see if they have somthing for your car, odds are they do. My plan is to install these in the next few days so you will see another vid with the weight and install.

    The TBM brakes are next level. I'm interested in seeing the weight difference.

    As one who also ,,mountain bikes. I see a lot of similarities to this design. Calipers have similar designs features and shapes , same with the rotors . Nice stuff John , again it's nice to see your game stepping up. And companies helping you along the way. Well earned!!!

    I took off some brand new 4 piston aerospace front brakes swapped to the TBM single piston knowing I was going straight into the woods. I stopped way easier and faster with TBM than I ever have. Good video John!

    Hey man can you use these brakes and daily drive it to? Or is this for mainly drag?

    TBM is getting it done . You can flip the rotor for adjustment and shim it for the center of the caliper. Good enough for Tom Bailey good enough for TJ for sure.

    The design of the rotor gives you more surface area and strength, than a regular circular rotor. I’ve had mine glowing orange, many times and they are still straight. If monster trucks can runs these brakes, then a drag car should have no issues.

    Get another set of bearings and get them WPC treated. The micropeening works.

      @@TurboJohnRacing you can look up the process on CZcams. Actually better than Microblue.
      Next time you need to go through the rear differential, do the process to the ring and pinion plus all the bearings and races. Itll drop the friction quite a bit and improve reliability.

    I’d love to buy a full set of these (front/rear), but their prices are double the cost of competitors. If they were priced closer to the competitiors price then I would definitely buy a complete set

    I currently have Willwood brakes, and want to try and use TBM speed sensor. Do you know the inside diameter of that ring that goes over bearing hub assembly.
    I really like my Willwoods and they are new but I want to set up traction control. I’m hoping I can just buy 52-1401 from TBM and make that slide over my hub.

  • @scottgjerdingen
    @scottgjerdingen Před 2 lety

    Curious & probably a dumb question, but, how does back wheel speed vs front wheel speed work to control traction when the front wheels are in the air?.. is traction control via wheel speed deferred for the 1st second or so?… or is this exactly what you are looking to detect (vs an angle sensor to tell you when the front lifts?)?

  • @stevenbelue5496
    @stevenbelue5496 Před 2 lety

    I always wondered if those rotors would wear pads quicker, seems like that leading edge would carve on the pads wearing them out quicker or maybe they have a tapered edge like most cross drilled rotors. Not crazy about the adhesive or locking compound, would rather have set screws w/allen heads. Super tiny aluminum or TI screws for weight reduction.

    • @thomasward4505
      @thomasward4505 Před 2 lety

      Motocross bikes have been using that same design and style for many years with no problems

    • @jcnpresser
      @jcnpresser Před 2 lety

      Motion raceworks who owns tbm now has a video about how fast they wear, Doug takes them off the mustang I think.

  • @lockedinstreetracing6005

    Damm those are nice I run Lamb components brakes and coil overs. Eventually when you do that aluminum block your gonna be top 5 in fastest in no prep maybe get you a gangster 98 lol another thing if you want to get lighter weld wheels are some of the lightest in the world if not the lightest.

    what is your feedback after having them on the car for a bit now and some passes? I'm curious on the actual stopping power compared to what people previously had on their vehicle as well as brake fade...how long do the pads and rotors last on a street driven/weekend track car making 900hp.
