I'm actually looking at her phone and her hand movements. I read a lot through body language. I guess you could say it's a "tic" of mine. I'm like a dog that sees a squirrel. And to be honest I think the camera angle makes my eyes look like I'm looking down even though I'm not. Maybe it's my severe eyeliner?

GREAT video!!! I feel like I learned SO much!!! I got my California cosmetology license way back in 82 and did lots of acrylic nails back then. (I stupidly gave up my license because I got married and wasn't working in the industry for several years.) I've gotten back into doing my own acrylic overlays after a 30+ year gap. I paid nail techs to do my nails for years and years in the gap, but I didn't do my own. It's just really difficult to neatly apply acrylic to my dominant hand. But between Suzie and Kirstey Meakin over at the Naio Nails channel I got brave and started doing it about 8 months ago. I also did a set on my son's girlfriend. She's a picker so they didn't last. She wants me to do them again but I'm hesitant because of the picking and the fact that they only last about a week before she's picked them all off. I keep telling her I'm waiting until I buy a specific cover pink because she wants a French fade, that she insists on calling an "American manicure," which drives me nuts! I won't be able to stall her much longer. She also complains about how long it takes, even though she wants different nail art on every finger! It figures that I have one "client" (that I don't charge, obviously) and she's my nightmare client!

Concerning the dip systems, here in Quebec it's the most common technique but the majority of us do not actually dunk the nail into the pot but rather pour over the powder onto the nail... we also DO NOT DO FILLS, we soak off the entire set in warmed up acetone and re-start a new set each time, I always thought putting something new onto something old was never a good idea, here a lot of us are taught that it's not good to do fills because you can never see the natural state of the nail if there is a bacteria that lies underneath all those fills 😕

Loved the video! I am self taught. I learned from watching videos and learned so much more watching you, Suzie. My nails were damaged by a tech that did not know how to properly use an e-file. My natural nails have recovered from the damage, but that prompted me to learn how to do nails. After finding your videos and following your advice, I am more confident in doing my nails and get compliments almost everywhere I go. I usually wear tips, but after watching the videos, i am going to give the forms a try. Thank you for the videos and sharing your knowledge.

BRAVO! I love what you both mentioned about how everyone had the right to be in the industry if licensed or not, and how the line is blurred between professional and non-professional! I learned to do a full set of acrylics on myself after getting tired of paying for it at salons. I now get lots of compliments on my nails from years of practice. Like Liz said, "Nails are so fun, there should be no rules".....and, Yes, some regions do require licensing to charge for nail services, of course. Thank you guys for bringing us all this continued great information making it more fun! ❤️

Hi G Wiz, Actually, I started out with Tammy Taylor videos in teaching myself how to do acrylics which was quite a few years ago and ever since I have really been devoted to her products alone, however, I am getting to where I want to maybe try other products as I am starting to run out of the TT products I have been stocked up on. I am still to this day using TT nail tips, acrylic powders, monomers, primers as well as all different types of her files and never a problem with lifting. Regarding nail polish, I am an OPI girl, but when it comes to a top coat I am a die-hard fan of Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat only. 🙂

Same here. I do my own nails and the nails of some family and I wish so bad I could do them for the public but I’m not licensed. The biggest crappy part for me, is to get ur license u have to take the classes in person. There’s no place remotely near me for me to do that. I get taking a test in person or to be certified but I can’t attend in person classes. And I believe I’m good enough to be licensed. I just don’t have a place near me to do that. I wish they’d do something online for those with no school near them.

You guys are the best. My two favorite nail channels. I agree about sharing the information. Everyone is better when we come together and share what we know. And the same things that happen with nails happen with hair. Same pricing issues, same crazy clients, and same issues with confidence etc. :-)

To the question on time to wear enhancements, I’m also a tech and have worn nails for over thirty-five years and only time I have no product on is when I change my set so in my opinion you can wear it as long as you want. Love love love enhancements.

So fun to watch -- THANK YOU for sharing your experiences. Also, regarding one of the questions asked about the green spot on their fingernail/pseudomonas infection in nails, if one has pets, some pets are susceptible to it - my bird got it and the vet said it is a nasty infection for birds - thankfully bird was on medication for a few weeks and is fine now. But people need to be careful if they have pets or are around immunocompromised /elderly/ infants and touching them if they have nail infections- just thought I would mention that even though the question was clearly directed as to how the infection could affect one's own health but with my experience with my sick parrot I thought I would comment on how it could affect other people or pets) Thank you again, love watching your youtube videos !!

OMG I am so happy to hear that you 2 want people to learn how to do nails properly with or without a license. I have heard so many techs rant about how people without a license shouldn't even do their own nails. I think if you are taking the time to learn how to do it the right way that I should be able to do my own nails. Thank you guys for that. Love both of your channels!

Can u do a video on how to dispose of monomer since I’ve been wondering about it and maybe other have too and love u!!!! Ur one of my top favs and I love ALOT of others so ya!!!😜😆😊😂👌👌

      On NAILPRO.COM
"The worst thing you can do is pour lacquers or acrylic monomer down the drain. And you won’t want to toss the full bottles straight into the trash, either. If you have a small amount of polish, pour it into newspaper and let it dry completely. Remove the lid on the bottle so that the leftover bits inside the bottle can dry. When all is dry, toss the bottle, lid, and paper into the regular trash for pick-up. If you have small amounts of acrylic monomer, combine with acrylic polymer, roll into a small ball, and then throw away.
Though both of these techniques are more convenient, the best way to go is always proper hazardous waste disposal. Occasionally, local schools or organizations will host a Household Hazardous/Electronic Waste (HHW/E-Waste) Collection Event, allowing you to freely bring in hazardous chemicals for proper disposal at no charge. Your county may have a calendar of upcoming events near you on their website. You can also call the county offices find out.
Earth911 allows you to find a location nearby to properly dispose of your salon’s hazardous waste. Type “nail polish” into the first box, and your zip code into the second. We were pretty surprised to find several options within just a few miles of our offices! Some locations are dropoff only, pickup only, or residential only, so be sure to click through to find out the details before showing up. The site indicates with red and blue dots which type of location it is. You can search for a place near you "

Just soak the remainder up with a paper towel and throw it away. That's it! Don't pour it down the drain or anything like that. Same with acetone. Just ball up a paper towel or two and touch it to the leftover monomer or acetone, then dispose. I do tend to put it in a grocery bag after soaking it with the paper towels, then throw it away like that. Easy peasy!
