Thanks, good video! but you should also mention that some smiths are angled vs. straight. Looks like the one you're using has the 7 degree angle. Lots of confusion over which way to sit when the smith is angled. Looks like you're doing it correctly. Bar moves from chest toward head as it rises.
David K I go the opposite way he sits when benching cause that angle fucks my shoulder so I go probably what's believed as "backward" but keeps it centered over my chest not my kneck at the peak contractions
It doesn’t matter if you bench front or back, the smith machine does the job any which way. Idk how ppl can feel embarrassed in not knowing how to use it
I agree w/ Nastassia, but I believe the adjustments are difficult on most of the machines at Planet Fitness because they need to be lubricated on a regular basis. It just seems there's a lot of equipment which doesn't move as easily as others. Love the videos!! Keep up the good work!!

First thing you want to do is bring your own 45 pound bar, second is move the fake bar up to the top and lock it in then put your bar on a comfortable spot on the gun rack. Add weight to your bar and then bench press.
Your bench press with the free weight bar would fuck up your shoulders by the way the "gun rack" is set up might as well go to a gym with a free weight bench lol.

When your arm is fully extended the weight should be directly above your shoulders. When you lower the bar your hands/the bar naturally move ever so slightly down your chest. Moving too far down the chest though can risk injury, I recommend watching pro bench pressers

Add a bunch of plates to.the Smith and its not much different than the free weight bar. Yeah, its equates to bit less, but its only about 5 to 10% less in comparison. I still get a great pump using either method.

Form is everything when moving weights. Next time, try to make sure the bar goes under your nipple line. Then pull your shoulders back. When you push up, make sure it stays like that, and while pushing up, aim to squeeze your chest in a flex. You'll feel the difference.
seriously 90% of my workouts are with free weights, barbells, and benches for anybody out there wanting to do bench press, DO NOT use a smith machine. Bench press is supposed to be done on a slight arc motion, not a fixed motion. the fixed motion restricts the bodies ability to use stabilizer muscles, and is especially not good for your shoulders this gym blows
