It's amazing how Inverted Fate manages to completely do its own thing with its own music and everything, and by doing so gets the closest feel to the original Undertale out of any fanfic
Eyy, thanks! The soundtrack's definitely grown as the project has. I really wanna remaster some of the older music at some point (especially Warhound's Wrath), since I've learned a lot since then.

I love how IF handled Flowey. We all knew the flower’s true intentions from the get go, but Frisk didn’t. They trusted him, and now everything is hell. That is exactly what this song represents. The death of all hope.
This quote from IF captures it perfectly
“I trusted you!”
“Your mistake.”
Yeah, IF's handling of Flowey is full of dramatic irony. The reader knows what's coming, but the characters don't and that adds to the tension.

Honestly I thought it was called Checkmate because of in chess like when u beat ur opponent usually through smart skills in chess, u say Checkmate. Kinda similar to how Flowey won through with his wits and manipulation

Checkmate. Not only does it mean you've lost, but *you have no possible moves left.* Nothing you can do will even so much as let you escape, or delay the inevitable for even a moment longer.
I love how Flowey’s animated sprite makes him look almost excited for his plan to be put into motion. After thousands of resets, he might finally have a shot to be reunited with his best friend

0:56 Notable detail is that undyne has two vines holding her down.
Guess she was fighting back the most out of everyone there.
In the Angel's Promise chapter, Undyne and Mettaton have more vines than their canon selves and then Papyrus still has the most in the end. xD
@@Dorked Actually this bit was unintentional coincidence! They're right that I added an extra vine due to Undyne fighting back.
I was tempted to also add a red outline for her Determination but felt that was unnecessary.

I love how inverted fate is just a "what if the villain won" kind of story
I love how Flowey asserts his dominance. He takes that precious to you, threatens to destroy it, admits to having no emotion towards those things, Laughs at you if you try to stand up, kicks you while you try to get up (metaphorically because he doesn't have legs nor vines with feet at the tip), and lets you know from the beggining. This is a fight that YOU CAN'T WIN.
Checkmate is genuinely one of the most terrifying video game songs I've heard, it shows Flowey's insanity and unhinged obsession in full force.
Also the Flowey vines holding the textbox is a cute, really love how the animation puts you right in the action.

He’s basically actively TORTURING YOU and *LAUGHING AS YOU BREAK!*

God, yeah. Especially within the context of this video, I love how it all came together. xD Glad it seems to have been worth the wait!
The comparison to the theme of Omega Flowey is great.
The theme there fills you with hope and that you can overcome what gets thrown at you. Here, it’s proving that the odds are against you and the cards are in Flowey’s favor.
I'm glad that Checkmate is on CZcams now, it's one of my favourites from the IF soundtrack, all the leitmotifs in it are used in such a good way...
And, the visuals of this are just... absolutely amazing.

That's a really good theme name btw. It fits cause it's like Flowey was playing 4 dimensional chess against everyone. And usually when u win in Chess. It's Checkmate. And the theme is used for Flowey's victory. Great job Dorked.

I did not really appretiate this theme in the tension of the original animation's premiere,but now i am starting to realize really how amazing it is.
And this animation is really the cherry on top.

Inverted fate will always feel like a canon continuation of the story to me. In fact, next time i do a true pacifist, i'll ALT + F4 when asriel takes over and put on the comic
Oh, that's a fun idea. xD There's actually some secret pages on the IF website that go into Frisk's specific choices in the old timeline, too, though that's more supplementary lore, haha.

This soundtrack really makes you, the player, for once feel completely powerless in this situation. You couldn’t do anything to get frisk/chara out of this situation, and now all of your “friends” are trapped in vines, YOU YOURSELF have been split apart, and flowey also has all the human souls. What’s worse is we knew this situation was going to occur in some way, but frisk didn’t. Flowey isn’t even killing anyone or absorbing their souls yet, he’s just taunting us. Flowey knew how powerless we are.
Man, I wish Inverted Fate would come back sooner lol. Not to rush you guys on a masterpiece, but I am really excited for the new updates!

This truly is one of the scariest moments in inverted fate because this is the part where Flowey won, he can do anything, and there is almost nothing stopping him from doing ANYTHING.
Diferent from Your Best Nightmare, Chackmate is not chaotic, it has organizationa nd even melody. I might be overthinking, but this contrascts woth how this is not a foght, but a torture, you can never win, and everything is going ghe way Flowey imaginated, it is gping all occording to his plan, everything is in it's place.
I love this song. I love the way Flowey is represented. He's over everyone, not even all their powers together is able to beat him. He's a God.

Honestly I can't grace Inverted Fate with anymore praise than I can, how they made the characters designs, the personalities, the storyline, Flowey's intentions being so clear yet not so to dear ol' Frisk. The music that slaps, I wish the best of lucky for whatever else is to come for this AU all together.

i love how much inverted fate improved over time! at this point, if feels like its own thing, with its own characters, story and music. also, i love how this isnt like underswap with just swapping the characters, but its rather a whole different storytelling of a similair concept. im pretty sure that ita safe to say that, right now, inverted fate has beaten any undertale au, hevk evwn the og undertale. thank you, dorked, for this masterpiece of a comic.

I don't like the term AT. xP In any other fandom, "alternate timeline" is just an AU subgenre, and the term's use in the UT fandom was mostly because Camila hated AUs and wanted to put Glitchtale above them, so it left a bad taste in my mouth, admittedly.

Truly incredible work! This is probably the most creative way I've seen Bonetrousle used in a soundtrack; I couldn't even tell it was a motif when I first watched The Angel's Promise (or A Very Special Message, for that matter). Speaking of which, does anyone know whether A Very Special Message's track will be uploaded to the IF SoundCloud playlist? It's basically just a small part of Checkmate, but interesting nonetheless.

I know this has been up 2 months and everyones said everything they could by now, but this is by far my favorite ost of the of soundtrack.
The vast majority of undertale aus and alternate timelines just focus on sans, and while most are decent, it gets stale, so this au is a perfect fresh air. Or would this count as an alternate timeline? Maybe a lil bit of both
