  • Hello gents. I this episode i show you how you can diagnose error code p0172 in a vw polo with CBZ engine. The car had a failing High pressure fuel pump which was leaking fuel in the engine, contaminating the oil.
    Cheers

Hi man.My oil level is up by a lot and there is a strong petrol smell on the dipstick. Oil is very "watery" . I noticed i also have high fuel comsumption. Do i need to replace the pump?

the problem of the P0172 error is not the pump, but the tappet or glass that works on the camshaft which is no longer able to slide well and therefore blocks and the pump spring is unable to push it down

P0172 its a generic code that refers to fuel system too rich, which in my case was caused by a bad fuel pump. It could either be caused by a faulty flow meter for example. So in you case possibly was related to the pump spring being blocked

Hi. Unfortunately had to replace the whole pump. The process it very simple just the pump, it’s expensive

Besides the pump itself that was faulty, the Fuel Pressure Sensor/Sender/Regulator unit located on the fuel rail was also faulty..... i did a bench test with it.....the sensor received power and the circuit inside was closed, but unfornately the solenoid inside the sensor didnt click or kick when energized......had to replace the sensor/regulator and then reset the computer before starting..... finally got her starting

Very easy process, just buy a new pump. To install you just need to remove two torx screws T25, the return line with a plier and the feed line with a 17 inch wrench

Hi i have a 2012 Audi A3 1.4tfsi no error codes at all but there's a fuel smell on my dipstick...idling and drive is uncomforable do you know what it could be? One guy said its a High pressure fuel pump but i need to be sure as thats expensive

HI there. What do you mean its uncomfortable when idling and drive? does it vibrate etc? Its normal to feel a ligth smell of fuel on oil if you spread in your fingers from the dipstick, but not that hard. if your oil level icreases overtime you have a problem
