Venkataramana Temple Gingee Fort | Offbeat temple inside Senji Kottai

Venkataramana Temple is that offbeat temple found inside the Gingee Fort, filled with architectural wonder. Senji Fort is famous for its many ruins and mahals. Senji Kottai is managed by ASI and within its premises with a beautiful backdrop of rocky hills and paddy fields lies the Venkataramana Temple.
It is said that during the Persian and French invasion many parts of the temple were plundered and further the invasion by Hyder Ali led to parts of the temple being destroyed. Today we can see the pillars of the temple adorning the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Pondicherry. And the main Venkataramana deity statue is said to be found in the Pondicherry Government hospital.
