    Thanks...so nice and interesting to watch...I learnt you have to take a course first for 1 year before studying nursing. Is it the prerequisite in all universities you mentioned.
    Also, can a nursing student work while studying...
    Apart from Ottawa University, does other universities also offer scholarships

    • @adacanada
      @adacanada Před 2 lety +4

      Hello,
      Not all universities have that as prerequisite. For example, University of Manitoba has a University 1 program where you spend 1 year taking general courses and then you choose nursing when you get to 2nd year. University of Alberta doesn’t have that option so it’s nursing from the 1st year.
      Yes, you can work part time as a nursing student, even as an international student, you can work while in nursing school.
      Yes, there are other universities that have scholarships for undergrad, e.g., University of Manitoba, York University, University of Calgary, Laurentian University, Memorial University, University of Saskatchewan, to mention a few.
      Hope this helps

I have no science background from my high school result. But I have bachelor degree but not in a science field. I was advice to take pre-requisites program in a Community College in Canada.i will really appreciate it if assist me on this. Thanks for your time.

    • @adacanada
      @adacanada Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Amanda, there’s no associate degree in nursing in Canada. That exists in America but not in Canada. What we have is a licensed practical nursing diploma (LPN) which you can take at a 2 year college and then write the practical nursing license exam in order to work as a LPN nurse. If you wanted to become a registered nurse (RN) then you would go back to school to take extra courses to allow you take the NCLEX exam to become a RN in Canada.
      With your previous bachelors background in science, you can apply for an accelerated bachelor of science program in nursing which is only 2 years. But before you can apply for the accelerated BSc nursing, you need to take prerequisite courses in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, English, psychology/sociology. You can take the prerequisites at a college. It takes roughly about 1 year to get your prerequisites before you can apply for the accelerated nursing program.

      Hello Saqib,
      Thank you!
      If you’re a registered nurse in Pakistan, consider applying for a bridging program at a college, for example, Fanshawe College in Ontario. In this program, you can take some nursing courses that will help you get into the nursing sector within Canada. It will give you an edge and enable you to take the NCLEX exam to practice as a registered nurse in Canada.
      You will also have to submit your transcript and certificate from your nursing school in your country for evaluation. The nursing board will evaluate and determine whether you can take the exam directly or whether you will need extra courses or clinical hours.
      However, it is easier to do if you’re already in Canada. So apply to a college, like Fanshawe College to get your foot in.

      You have to take maths. It’s a required prerequisite for a bachelor of science in Nursing.

      Hello,
      Your secondary school final result will need to show scores in mathematics, English, biology, physics, chemistry

      @@adacanada Can I use a GCE result because maths and chemistry results were withheld for my set in school?
      Or do I have to use the both of them?

      Hello, did you study nursing at any point while working in the 8 years period?
      If you’re applying to transfer to Canada, you will need to have a nursing degree (bachelors in nursing). Either that or you can apply to a nursing school.
      If your degree is in Chemistry, you can apply for something like medical laboratory science in Canada.
