- This was a bonus track from Verminous that I whipped up from a demo I had lying around of some heavy metal riffs. Trevor wrote the song to be about my pomsky, Sabre, so this tune is special to me!
Video lesson, tab, and a backing track can be found on my Patreon here:

I love how you've managed to refine the Dahlia sound over time, making the 'dad rock' riffs more rock-y while still keeping that classic death metal feel to them.
0:37 Brandon seeing the music on the ceiling like The Queen's Gambit 😂😂
Underrated comment😂😂
Brandon I wish there were more old school players like you in the metal scene. Im always amazed by your playing ability and it stands out from players that just focus on chugga chugga. I’ve been following your videos for years. You have a lot of great things ahead of you!
As soon as that vibrato hits, shit gets real.
I don't think that a normal person can play like this, this is just pure talent
I would say talent, practice and passion in combination as Mr. Ellis is !!!
a normal person that put effort into doing something can do anything iv'e been playing guitar for 16 years i'm good but i'm no brandon ellis
He is a normal person. If you have passion and the mental maturity to learn an instrument at a young age plus maintain good practice habits you can be as good as him. You won’t have the same personality on the guitar, though. And that is probably what fascinates you even more than his skills. He’s just a player that expresses a lot of emotion in his playing. It’s not just a machine with perfect skills.
As far as BDM goes, this isn't really that complicated of a song to be fair
I hear some Zakk Wylde touches in the song.
That tone is goddamned delicious
I get an Iron Maiden vibe. Very good sir!!
Haha Trevor was so awesome! So is that little diddy.
Best vibrato in modern metal
I have never heard this song before…. This is crazy.
Beast mode: [ON] OFF
I kinda get why this wasn’t on the album but god dayum it’s a great piece of music. Very powerful and melodic. Makes me wonder what a Brandon Ellis solo album would be like……. 🤔
It was on Verminous, just not the US release. They always do bonus tracks for the Japanese release since CDs/albums are a rough market there. I think they cost a lot more in Japan, but yea, that's why Japan gets the bonus tracks and we don't... At least on physical release.
This is how Overkill would sound if Marty Friedman had ever played guitar for them.
Absolutely amazing as always. Thank you for spoiling us with amazing axe wielding skills.
Dude, you are blessed to have such a rad song about your doggo! 🤘Hell yea!
I kept watching the Instagram live video of this, glad to see a full version! 🔥
Man just absolutely perfect technique and tone.
My man lives in heaven everyday with that godly gear set up and an endless supply of Jackson guitars lol
My new favorite guitarist 🔥👍💪🤘
Dude the whole thing is badass but that riff just before the solo is so sick
This is beautiful brother. I'm coming to see you guys in Ybor City, FL in a couple months. Buying my ticket tonight. Can't wait!
sick groove :)
So cool! Reminded me of Sinergy
that was badass
Killer work ! Love it, Old school baddass flavor!
Good! Sound of true metall
The bends...it's like riding a 🌊
Such great tone, the first riff reminded me of Lizzy Borden's Tomorrow Never Comes.
Those bends are scaring the Sabre out of me Brandon.
Hello! Your videos are the only recommended ones that I repeat watching! God bless you mister Brandon!
Completely BAD ASS Brandon! Always dug those kinda chord progressions!
Keep the BEEEAAARRRDDDD
So cool to hear.....so many thanks for sharing with us.......pls keep on !!!
Super clean style. Love it! Carry on man, you got that!
We need a Brandon power metal side project so for the ballads and epic riffs
Insane guitar talent.
Great tune!
I have no words. This is amazing. Brandond never stop doing this!
counting through the bends, that makes me feel better to see that you do that too.
Fuckin love the riff with the inverted chords and that hair metal vibe. Killer shit dude. 🤘🏻
So great dude!!
Great sound ! Killer riff man !!!!
Really cool
Amazin'!
Great !!
This song sounds in the beginning like Dissection - Black Dragon
Cool and inspirational song 👍🤘
The Marty Fridman of the extreme metal scene 🖤🥰
Brandon Ellis, I've been playing since the 80s and I have to say, YOU ARE AN AMAZING MONSTER GUITARIST. You deserve to be and should be with a top notch band like Metallica or Megadeth. Even though your playing skills are way above their style of music, and your playing is so much more advanced than theirs, nonetheless you deserve that paycheck $$$$ and world class gig. Seriously, you should be more famous. It seems like a crime that Kirk Hammet is where he is, not because of skills, but because he was at the right place, at the right time. I hope you make it man, I really do. You are a bad ass guitar player and I mean that.
How much more top notch does it get than Black Dahlia Murder?
Ok, we need a Sabre The Dog anime. Like…now. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Fucking Brilliant 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
🔥🔥🔥
Fuckin Brandon, killing it as usual.
A lot of Arsis in this one.
- 🤟🤟
🤘
❤
🤘😎🤘
What’s on his guitar output jack?
I'm guessing some sort of splitter, to record and get sound in the room as well. Not sure though.
Its a Redeemer Studio Buffer
I got a question for ya what guitar would you leave this world with in your hands.
How are you liking the 5150 iconic. Would really value your opinion on it! Horns up from illinois 🤘
That was on point. Can you do a cover on a Pantera solo? Dimebag seems to have difficult solos to play. You got this. No pressure.
what is the rackmount youre in? and the the top one?
I was in a good band and doing great. But life hit. Do not give up music no matter what. I am native American and have the power of music thats from our creator and I almost quit music. I could play jason Becker...malmsteen...Vai...and Vito from white lion with ease ...now I have to relearn alot of their stuff Dont ever quit. You're very good and I am rooting for you. Don't ever quit or youll be like me and have to relearn alot of shit. 😂 I was a theory expert and now I have to rehash what I forgot. Even my own songs. Haha.
Hey Brandon, what is your preferred speaker choice in your cabs?
I dont have one really. Those cabs in the back have v30s crossed with greenbacks. I like k100s too. And the speakers in the 5150iii cabs are nice too
Are those pony tails as fretwraps? haha.
Buttery as always, dude. Goshdarn.
Yes, I CAN NOT STAND when you play a tight stop and the strings are rartling above the headstock.
@@BrandonEllisGtr eNGiNeEr. hahaha Great idea.
Wish I thought of that when I had long hair!
@@StopPanakinAnakin I've been doing it since before I had long hair, hahah
Eyy what's that Jackson labeled amp?
Its a Jackson Reference 100!
this is so much better than any porn
Is this the black dahlia murder though really? If I showed this to any tbdm fan blindfolded they would say unequivocally no. Not to say it's bad or anything, it's just not what you think of literally ever when someone mentions tbdm. - fan for 20yrs
That is exactly the idea. It is a bonus track, it's for fun
This guy really good can't listen there singer though need like parkway vocals
All pf ypur atuff wpuld spund bettwr wothout putting the extact same kinda bends every two seconds...and you do this with everything lol its abit much .... Get out of that plateau
BDM forever 🤘
Yo Brandon! Many many years ago you went to Cass highschool with me and my brother Maverick! Solid riffs buddy! I'm trying to grow my own channel ( youtube.com/@RaineyHall ) but it isn't going well. I don't think its because of my guitar playing though, I'm pretty sure its just that the algorithm hates me! Keep being awesome bro!
Hmm, I am not the Brandon Ellis you think I am!
