I beat Fire Emblem Engage without using rings. I hope you enjoyed watching. If you liked the video it would be great if you Subscribed and Shared with a friend.
After watching a couple of no emblem rings runs I was wondering how possible a no rings at all run would be. Seeing one on maddening is impressive, it also really shows off how versatile certain staves can be as well. Good stuff
Cool run! It seems like in a lot of places where emblem rings would normally give you the extra gas to get past problems you were able to use retreat/staff strats instead, very interesting!
Ok this is a brilliant challenge video but honestly my favourite part is the usage of Eternal Sonata music at 26:49, I got so excited! It's my favourite game of all time and seeing it get recognition is always so cool
Well hello there fellow Eternal Sonata enjoyer in the accursed year of 2023 with no hope of any remasters in sight ☹️. May we never forget the pain we felt in that dream!
I did it without using Emblem Rings, but a lot less restrictions than you (Bond Rings, Engraving, Inheritance allowed) and I nearly lost my mind in chapter 25, incredible job.
i'm actually trying to beat engegae on madden one punch man style ( starting once the forge is unlocked since without forging its simply impossible even with the DLC ) its actually kinda fun you should try it if you want an idea a few suggestions that i've been using, forge an Early Thoron or get lucky and get one from the well as getting that up to +1/2 allows you to one shot nearly all enemies up to chap 19 on its own with clinne ( you may need to goto +3-4 depending on your level ups as i did see a few Warriors and other high HP targets be 1-3 HP off being killed around chap's13-18 namely in the emblem para's ) 2nd is to decided what you want Alear to be since in this run there either a powerhouse monster using an Emblem ( i perfer the 3 house one ) to solo areas and be kinda touch and go from there or as a support unit that honestly is underreated and i might try in a normal run and last one is that its best to avoid the Dex% trigger skills in this challenge since there unrelieable if you need them for more than a few enemies Also i suggest trying to use Marths level 10 engage weapon as your main killing weapon as often as possible this is a bit tricky to do but i was able to get Chole , bouch and Alear all to level 10 and promoted by chap 8 doing this along side the well + the anna and jenna para's Oh and i suggest one bow unit, since its actually really hard to kill flying units in the mid-late game without one in a single hit, nearly soft locked on chap 13 ( admitly an archer does not help with this and the reason was purely because i couldn't kill all 4 health bars in a single round requiring me to risk death from the reinforcements but still ) i actually suggest either Efie or using someone with high Attack with lyn's emblem though this isn't the most reliable because its an engage attack. something else did try was warrior spam using a fracture staff to abuse Break+ but... this was kinda 50/50 while i one shotted anything i broke, the staff is oddly inaccurate and semi-rare in the mid game though i think this is fixable
Cool. I'm near the end of a no Somniel/DLC/Internet Features run. I've had a good time with it, but I likely won't do it again. Not being able to forge weapons was the probably the worst part.
The funny thing is, compared to 0% growths and alear solo this actually looks harder. Although who knows. Got to say I was kinda disappointed chap 25 just turned into a warp fiesta Its really funny how the final chapter is like really easy but then its really hard because you cant just cheese it
One idea I had was a run where you only use unpromoted classes, and no second seals. Seeing how every other challenge run has worked so far it'll probably be doable, maybe even easier since its barely a restriction at all Another gimmick idea I had was alear + (pick one unit) only, although I wouldnt be surprised if it just turns into basically the same strategy as alear solo No staves is another one, although that by itself sounds almost trivially easy (would mean you wont be able to cheese chap 25 and a few others but hardly a restriction at all, even with the loss of obstruct spam) Swords only or arts only, its not really a big deal. I think I saw someone do a challenge where you have to engage, although this makes the early chapters really hard since you only have marth for the first 3 chapters
Ok another idea, no somniel/armory/shops, that one might at least be a little interesting, though it doesnt feel like it would change much in the end The irony is. Auto battle only might actually not be doable, from what little I've tried so far it seems to just get you killed. I could be wrong though, since clearly this game has a very very high ceiling.
@@mahomisawa4172 I don’t think it’s possible since they will always attack the closest enemy. So with maps that have nonstop reinforcements can’t be completed
Alear: I cannot do this without you (the emblems) Me: If you are nothing without the emblems you don't deserve them. That's why I had Alear with a single bond ring for like 10 chapters after that. This runs represents that better. The emblems are like the armor parts in Mega Man X. They are amazing tools but you don't actually need them to survive.
Um dosnt yunaka have a ring when you first use her? If so wont the kills she gets or the damage she receives give her exp... Thought a rule was any ring barer will not gain exp?
am i dumb or does this not actually seem to be on maddening mode, 4:13 the ai shouldnt be able to target yunaka with 0% hit chance. also damage number look a bit off, but its still a cool run regarless
The enemies do have maddening stats. Fell Dragon Sombron only has 20 speed and less than 40 def/res on hard, so it's definitely not on easy or hard mode looking at him during endgame p2. And I guess the AI is just broken lol.
@@garhong9125 yeah in his run she’s bad, but that doesn’t change my comment lol. She’s bad for him now, but in a regular run or a mage only run she’s crazy
@@Matteo_nr1_evermore_stan If you want to talk outside of his run (which makes no sense in this video), she's not the best. She's second to Citrinne in magic (Maddening fixed growths run) because her bad base means she never catches up despite having slightly higher growth rate. And that's with reclassing her as mage from the get go. If you staff abuse her to L10 as an axe fighter and then promote over to sage, it's worse.
@@garhong9125 but no one is forcing you to do a fixed growths run either. So if you don’t play with fixed growths, I would consider her the best. In sage she has 80% magic growth, and if you add tiki or just starsphere, she basically can’t miss a magic level up. Really good for early game, then just use another emblem when her magic is high enough
@@Matteo_nr1_evermore_stan I'm going to stop wasting my time on you because we are 2 very different types of players. The numbers don't lie--if you add all that crap that makes the game piss easy to Citrinne too she will still stomp Anna in magic because the difference in bases is immense. There is only a TEN percent growth difference between them. but Citrinne starts with EIGHT base magic above her class in 9 levels (since she comes out at L10). If you can't see why that is insurmountable, I feel bad for you. If you've never played Maddening, your first run in the game needs to be on fixed because you don't have a choice. I happen to like that mode better and it makes for actual objective comparisons. I don't hate Anna, far from it. I liked her a lot and had her in my team too. But "she's better if you load her up with this and that" is not an objective comparison, that's simply your biases clouding your judgment. There are 3 strong high magic, low speed mages--Citrinne, Anna, and Jean. Anna is easily the weakest of those three and nowhere near the best mage overall. But yes, go ahead and throw your DLCs, online stat boosters, and save scumming if you want to justify that she is somehow stronger.
The whole run abruptly restarting halfway through is the peak moment of the video
After watching a couple of no emblem rings runs I was wondering how possible a no rings at all run would be. Seeing one on maddening is impressive, it also really shows off how versatile certain staves can be as well. Good stuff
Merrin and Pandreo carrying the run love to see it
also Luna crits, as always
Unrelated but I love your Mayoi pfp
Run MVP: Obstruct staff
Every time I watch videos like this, I get really impressed by the amazing units I see in endgame.
Shout out to my boy Alcryst being a boss killer with his Luna crits
My face was 😮 as you were listing the rules. Then it progressively became more and more 😱
its not as hard as you think, though the end game is brutal least my run of this challenge was
Now do it again as an Ironman
Crazy but interesting
This is pretty much a: Why Merrin is the best character video
Im gonna admit, I will never have as much patience as you do.
Cool run! It seems like in a lot of places where emblem rings would normally give you the extra gas to get past problems you were able to use retreat/staff strats instead, very interesting!

Another great video
Obstruct was the absolute mvp of my run so it’s cool af seeing someone else get as much use out of it as I did 🙏
Also know as : Fire Emblem Engage as intended.
Good job man !!
love your dry humor
i'm actually trying to beat engegae on madden one punch man style ( starting once the forge is unlocked since without forging its simply impossible even with the DLC ) its actually kinda fun you should try it if you want an idea
a few suggestions that i've been using, forge an Early Thoron or get lucky and get one from the well as getting that up to +1/2 allows you to one shot nearly all enemies up to chap 19 on its own with clinne ( you may need to goto +3-4 depending on your level ups as i did see a few Warriors and other high HP targets be 1-3 HP off being killed around chap's13-18 namely in the emblem para's )
2nd is to decided what you want Alear to be since in this run there either a powerhouse monster using an Emblem ( i perfer the 3 house one ) to solo areas and be kinda touch and go from there or as a support unit that honestly is underreated and i might try in a normal run
and last one is that its best to avoid the Dex% trigger skills in this challenge since there unrelieable if you need them for more than a few enemies Also i suggest trying to use Marths level 10 engage weapon as your main killing weapon as often as possible this is a bit tricky to do but i was able to get Chole , bouch and Alear all to level 10 and promoted by chap 8 doing this along side the well + the anna and jenna para's
Oh and i suggest one bow unit, since its actually really hard to kill flying units in the mid-late game without one in a single hit, nearly soft locked on chap 13 ( admitly an archer does not help with this and the reason was purely because i couldn't kill all 4 health bars in a single round requiring me to risk death from the reinforcements but still ) i actually suggest either Efie or using someone with high Attack with lyn's emblem though this isn't the most reliable because its an engage attack.

Huh I was expecting this to require some more intense cheese and less just retrying until you get good rng. Very impressive though.
the xenoblade 2 ost goes hard

Alfred 1:53 - 2:02
Diamant 5:51 - 6:00

what's with the emblem meter on alear in the final chapter? 29:44
I'm assuming it has to do with Alear's Engage+ ability
I’ll be honest I forget about all this stuff anyway

How did Celine get the Levin sword so soon
you can forge one out of a steel sword

loved the Persona 5 Strikes music in the back
Um dosnt yunaka have a ring when you first use her? If so wont the kills she gets or the damage she receives give her exp... Thought a rule was any ring barer will not gain exp?
I might be wrong though but most fire emblem games give exp no matter how the fight starts?
She only gets the ring when the axe wielder is killed. He purposely didnt kill the axe wielder so yunaka never got michaih when he got exp
Early gang
Had to add that “Can use when forced engaged but can’t gain exp” to not lose in the prologue.
No

Nope. Tiki’s is the first dlc level you can do

@@JP_KI ah thanks for clearing that up,
While its impressive it must have been a pretty boring run not using those mechanics.
Sure, let's just ignore the LITERAL NAME OF THE GAME. What's next, Three Houses but with no house units and no housewide activities like teaching?
Run invalid, did Trial paralogues, which are loosely tied to emblem rings, for EXP. Terrible challenge
