Very nice bowl Sam. Had to spend a bit of time looking up the Calabash design. Appreciated the information you provided during the video on this.

Your video is very informative - on my list to make one of these bowls as I progress in my turning skills.
    Thank you Sam.

Very nice bowl Sam! That bowl you started with is a wood I have some pieces of. That's exotic darnifino! Tom's new finish is really good stuff! Thanks for sharing!
    Take care, Dave

Good morning Dave, did you get some of Tom’s new finish. It really is good stuff like all his other pastes.
He did send me a can

Yes! I've used it on a couple of turnings and really like it. Might just get rid of the other stuff I have!@@WYOMINGWOODTURNER

I like your calabash bowl. I noticed you have the same lathe I have, I really like mine.

Thank you for showing the shear scraping technique on the outside, that's a valuable skill to develop.

Nice tool work. I liked the backed off view showing the scraper angles.

Nice shaped bowl..box elder is a soft wood and is very easy to to get tearout..scrapers help.. I think I may have to make one of those spear point scrapers..thank you sam.

This bowl by any name is just as sweet. Nice piece of work Sam. You can call it anything you want. You didn't show the finishing. Did you use Acks? Thank you for for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

I’m looking forward to your Acks finishing video.
Don’t worry about the calabash police.

Beautiful project, thanks, Sam. Curious about why you'd go to the bottom before finishing the undercut sides, given that with more wood in the middle there is less vibration?

      @WYOMINGWOODTURNER  Před 4 měsíci

I think I understand your question, but I’m not entirely sure. Anyway this is a very small bowl and didn’t get vibration at all any place. But mostly this is just the procedure for me completing a bowl.
      Thanks, Sam

I always thought a calabash bowl had a rounded bottom and no "foot". Nice looking bowl anyway!

You are completely right on this. I did leave the foot on this. So I messed up a little, adding the foot not entirely a calabash, huh? 🤔 sam

Definitely NOT a calabash in any way
