Thanks! Just finished replacing LCD OBC display, looks just awesome!
Thanks for the video on this, I just installed the one I got from you on Ebay and it works great and was easy to install.
Just did mine, thanks for this great video diy. I had an issue after with all the modes displaying PPPP. The programming chip wasn't fully seated so if that happens to you, double check that.
Awesome video! Thank you for helping new owners 🙏
Thanks for this video, Got me motivated to fix the one in my 1985 E23 735i
Perfect timing, just ordering an LCD. Thanks for posting, great tutorial.
Lol, just realized I ordered your LCD. After swapping I get nothing on the display, but backlight is working. Any tips? I tried adjusting the rubber strips twice. Unknown if this OBC ever worked, I bought the car with the display smashed on it. Thanks in advance.
@@LowCheese1 Hi, I think the most likely issue is the OBC is bad. I will send you a private message and we can get it all sorted out.

The video is very helpful, but I have the older OBC with the ribbon cable, and there is no description of how to get behind the ribbon cable.
Thanks for the great video!
Very well made video. It helped me get my OBC apart but the LCD doesn't look anything like the one you show. Mine has ribbons coming off both sides of the LCD and the notches don't match either. Do you happen to have any links to this style LCD? I've looked at them all and none match mine.
useful video, I'm just trying to replace the backlight board, but can't seem to pull the white unit out. I'm trying to do it with the unit in situ, do you know if it can only be done with the OBC unit completely out from the dash or not? does that top screw block the backlight coming out? thanks
Hello! How can I test it without car and cables? I have a 13 button obc, and I would like to test on table with a battery. Can you help me?
I have tried 3 times to get my OBC to work. Before I disassembled it, the light bar worked, now it doesn’t. I have another on order, but I don’t think both bulbs would die from taking it out. I don’t remember if the buttons illuminated before, but I’ve tried 2 different bulbs and nothing lights up with my lights on. I also can’t get the display to continue working correctly. It’ll show correctly for a second when I first plug it in, as if I just need to set the clock. _________UHR or whatever it says. Then the M MPH button flashes red and all the digits act weird. What do you suggest? I can send you a video if you need. I’ve taken it apart 4 times now. Nothing works right.
How hard is it to get the OBC out of the dash? I wish you made a good video of removing it....scared to crack my dash up
Great video. Followed the steps and replaced the screen but when fitted back, screen shows some nonsense symbols. Any ideas why?
Reinserted the chip a few times.
Hi, if there is dirt or dust on the rubber lcd strips it can cause this issue. Try cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol.
Hello! Your tutorial is great but I’m wondering what to call/where to find the orange screen for the lcd? Mine is worn and cracked. Any ideas?
Hi! I have some extras I can send you if you just cover the cost of shipping!
@@addisonmorrone wow that’d be fantastic. Do you have a replacement screen too so I can get both at the same time? If not I can buy the screen from somewhere else no problem.
@@VanHofeldt Great, yes I do have the screens. Follow the link in the description for the screen, then you can leave a buyers message and I’ll include the orange filter.
This may be a dumb question but why when would I know I need to replace the screen? When the lights are dim, are replace the light bar. When do I replace the screen? thanks
You replace the screen when it is no longer a uniform color. If you can see any orange showing through then you need a new screen. I didnt have a bad screen to show in the video but maybe ill add an example photo.
LCD are literally liquid crystal displays. the cells that contain the crystals in a given area break and you no longer have a functional screen, regardless of how well illuminated it may be
Clear, concise...perfect presentation
