Very true. I've read quite a few a/b/o fics that mainly focus on the thought process and behavior of the character in each category that doesn't always focus on the sex part of it.
And I can confidently say it could be directly tied to the "headstrong, confident, protector of those who are close" character as the alpha ( of either gender) and the "empathetic, mom-friend, observant" character as the omega (also of either gender).
And I just think that's pretty cool.
