Such an excellent deep track. Hard cold slap into the face and reality if you find the true meaning behind the words. This track resides between exactly that moment of desperation and understanding and just floats there for a while...
Another example of sonic youths amazing originality. Great driving rhythms, with sorta sinister, sorta groovy melodies all through it. sorta hard to explain, but i'll always dig this track. The change from verse to chorus is so uplifting, all my hairs stand on end listening to it. I think thats a sign my hairs like it too. Seriously though, i wish i could write songs like this. this is a classic
I saw the EVOL' tour in '86 in a cinder block garage smack dab in the middle of a cornfield in Kansas! The second time I felt intimidated by the band. The other, Black Flag '84.
@OnTheLibraryComputer grunge was a bunch of opportunistic hair farmers in flannel doing their best zep/sabbath impressions. this is way better than grunge.
where you get this? no se como no había visto esto antes, esta canción me trae tantos recuerdos de una época de mi vida como ninguna otra canción lo ha hecho, las guitarras y la voz de Thurston en esta canción son...(sin palabras).
Listen to A Place To Bury Strangers, also a NY band. Loads of SY, but also Joy Division, Jesus & Mary Chain, Cabaret Voltaire and other 80´s sounds. Master thieves I say! Great distortion sound! Best vid to watch is My Weakness.
i was very much into this album when I was 12-13 years old back in 1990 and this song always stood out to me and still does after all these years.
My favorite Sonic Youth tune ... it's brilliant.
I haven't heard this song in years and it still blows me away.

To me, one of the best intros ever.
Saw them twice, Nurnberg in the 90's and Paris a few years ago, loved it.
oh my gosh!
memories, memories, memories....
this was when I saw them live for the first time!
berlin, the 15th sept 1990
This song has stuck in my mind. When I heard it after 2 years or so, I had a flashback of listening to this while walking in the falling snow.
Classic. It sounds as fresh as I first heard it back in the day.
man, i always have loved that riff and the background stuff at 3:14. so beautiful. great song, great album.
This is my all time favourite song. Just luv it!

Amazing, one of their best, saw them twice, in Nürnberg in the 90's and in Paris in 2004(?)
Have to love the downtown Toronto scenery.
This is the song that got me into Sonic Youth.
@OnTheLibraryComputer Couldn't express it better....Sonic Youth's music is made with the stuff the dreams and fear are made of
OMG, just awesome

i'm surprised no one's mentioned the appearance of a young chloe sevigny in this clip. short, but sweet.
can we cry?
@OnTheLibraryComputer I like that comment ! "cool spookiness without sounding conceited"

Too much, sublime...
I like this, but quite frankly I preferred the original cut, especially the ending.
