- Happy Pokémon Day! This video shows the history of Pokemon intros from every main game in the series. Prior to the release of X and Y, the games were usually released first in Japan before coming to the USA about one year later, except for FireRed & LeafGreen and Black 2 & White 2.

People In the 90s: awe so cute
Yea, the low-quality voice sounds like Pikachu is screaming with its bass-boosted voice.
@@MudkipWithShades I always thought that they just bass boosted it, but it's just crappy 90s mics
@@VeiledArctic My old mic I had before sounds better than what they used in the 90s.
@@MudkipWithShades bass boosted pikachu
bass boosted pikachu
Veiled arctic show me how to do that P/&/$/$ I;&&;
I miss the art of creativity they did with the Dual Screens. Bless that DS system
I do
I love how on silver and gold had jigglypuff just singing and pikachu just charged at it😂😂😂
Ben, me too!
Me too I like how it references the anime opening song “Pokémon World” because it happens in that intro
Gold and Silver's rendition of the theme song just sends shivers down my spine.
Ditto!
No dude it’s Ho Oh and Lugia
The chiptune bass at 3:30 hits so hard
The first game I ever played 🤩
The gen 5 games intros tho🥵👌
SO TRUE
I agree
It broke my heart the day i played the Legend Arceus and realised we've lost that amazing intro song that was remade and adapted for each game over the years. It was just sad 😢
It plays after you finish the game
Can’t believe heart gold, my first Pokémon game, came out 13 years ago, man I remember I worked my ass off in school for that NDS and it was all worth it😿
✅️WELL DONE!
I hope you carried that work ethic with you into adulthood.
You started with heartgold? Not sure if I envy you for starting with the best or pity you since it was all downhill from the get go.
@@leighdappaabsolutely did and will keep it on, also waiting for that Gen 2 remake on the switch if there ever will be one 😢
@@danydady6851nah it was amazing dude, cuz Gen 5 came immediately afterwards, I also got to witness the transition from NDS to 3DS with XY and I mean back then it absolutely blew my mind so it was good times
This was also my first pokemon game as well, it was really just an excuse for my dad to have another trading buddy but it worked out in the end.
11:27 torchic tripping and falling and trying to catch up with the others 🥺
Black and white has the coolest and most interesting intro hands down
I agree!
I gotta respectfully disagree I assume emerald has a better press start screen
I change my mind after seeing black and white
Facts
Version 2?
No matter what, the title theme song never changes! I see the simularity of the theme of Pokemon FRLG and Pokemon RSE!
Me too!
Yes it's the same leitmotif.
theres a version of the title theme song in the anime, what is it called
Man those OG Ruby and Sapphire intros are so nostalgic
29:40 I've never heard this part of the song, but I love it
Also 31:05-31:44 is the best bit of music I've heard from pokemon *opening themes* I just love the chanting dunno why
I agree with everything you literally just commented
Sun and Moon were the last games that actually involved effort.
@@mildlydispleased3221 true
Ruby and Sapphire... Best soundtrack to ever exist in a Pokemon game.
Emerald is better
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire has gotta be one of the best ones. They took the amazing original and made it boosted. The upgraded sounds in the legendary screen made it so much better especially at 29:39
Blue was my first entry into the games, but Gold has my heart the most I can never give it up even still have my original copy to.
And lord have I heard the Gen 3 intro song for billions of times cuz 90% of the rom hacks I play are based on Emerald lol
12:39 is one of my favorite part in rse theme
It's like a wedding music on that part or something
HeartGold & SoulSilver were my first core series Pokemon games, SoulSilver was the first one I played because of Lugia. I saw him in Pokemon the Movie 2000 and when I saw SoulSilver at Walmart I had to get it. Seeing Lugia outright jetting through the sea floor along with the music will always be nostalgic for me. And since getting HeartGold and SoulSilver I've been getting the Core series (as well as Spin-offs) ever since, and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
Original Hoenn games : FUCKIN BRASS POWER !!
rayquaza emerging from the gradually darkening sky is the most epic thing
Black and white is literally peak Pokémon no one can’t disagree game play, animations ,abilities ,design, graphics, music,Pokémon ,trainers ,gameplay bro I’m missing so much more I love every Pokémon game but this one is by law the best
Gen 5 is the most content complete Pokemon gen to date, for sure!
Don't forget it was meant to be the reboot to the series
Emerald and bw2 are better
Yes i agree, i have black and black 2 and i love it, unova was always my favourite pokemon region
@@societyisboring reboot games ended up being better than most, RSE and black/white being the best 2 :)
0:15 That fucking opening jingle is just... MMF!
The best One whitout dubts its black/White version.
The Game Freak logo scene for Black and White still gives me goosebumps just listening to it.
Wish they kept it after BW. :)
A World with Pokemon and people awaits...!
Three months till gen 9, very close to hearing their opening.
And I’ll update the video once Scarlet and Violet are released.
I hope their intros are just as exciting!
:/
I’m from the future and sadly no, their intro is probably the worst one of the whole series. Great games tho but such a disappointing intro.
@@ibthat1guy Apparently if you finish the end game you can hear the theme in the title screen. Although they messed that up too.
@@commanderpluto6307 yeah Ik but imo it’s just as trash as their first opening and not even any new visuals. I can excuse legends cuz it was clearly trying to be like BOTW with the silence atmosphere but SV was another level of disappointment. I thought let’s go’s intro was the most disappointing but SV took that spot by a landslide. And it’s sad because from the looks of it game freak is going to keep trying to make the silent title screens work going forward
SuMo and USUM take the cake. The piano and the choir is 👌
B2W2 was something else, dude.
I'm playing it right now for PWT!
Agreed my favorite Gen
3:30 my fave part. So badass. Poetic too because your final opponent is RED and guess who he's rocking in his roster? Yours truly, CHARIZARD!
Man I remember getting Red on my old Gameboy. Getting to see them evolve over the years is awesome
Those of us who started with Gen V were so lucky. I mean, come on, that intro in Black 1 and White 1 hooked us for life.
I technically started on red and blue, but those were my brothers and i never actually play through either until the eshop releases. Pokemon Black was truly my first game in the series. Sadly, i don't have my original copy. My dog ate it, and sadly, this was when their prices were skyrocketing. I do have a rom version on a ds cartridge, a fully working rom i played through all of black on it. Payed 20 bucks for it better than nothing. But ima keep playing the gen 4 remakes and legends arceus until gen v remakes come out. Im skipping Gen 9. I like it, but not for me. Also have the new pokemon snap as well i played that as a kid it was actually the first game i played consistently, then i git black and never went back to spin-offs except for rumble and conquest had to give em a try.
I grew up with hoenn games after that I started studying the timeline of Pokemon games.
I pretty much kinda did the same thing!
@@MudkipWithShades Wow! We did the same thing :)
Me too
Mine was both Kanto and Johto first,
Then it was Hoenn,Sinnoh,Unova & Kalos.
I think mine was like when I was 3~4 my aunt's Pokémon Diamond game
and she told me strictly to not save anything.
Favorite intro: Gold and Silver (super nostalgic)
Favorite music: Black and White (I love how it sounds like epic villain music sometimes)
Coolest start screen Pokemon: Groudon and Kyogre on Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (I love how they glow when it gets darker)
I remember that click of turning a Gameboy on and the logo animation before the game music starts... 😅👍
Pokemon Plat, diamond and pearl theme song give me chills to this day
Emerald and Platinum will always have the hardest intros in the series.
Yep!
Absolutely
Fr. The platinum intro just fits with the music really well.
Can wait to see what scarlet and violet intros looks like
I hope they are better then sword and Shield. They are so lack luster.
Let’s see what happens next
Words cannot describe how bad this aged.
Once I finish watching these, I’m gonna pop in the cartridge and find out!!!🎉
@@PikachuJackskeling94 It's even worse. You only see a room with a Pokeball on it and that's it. No music whatsoever. I guess Gamefreak assumed no one cares for the intros anymore once after you see it once and people skip it.
I played all 3rd gen version from Leaf Green to Emerald Version. My bucketlist is to play Ultra Violet soon. The nostalgia of 90s kid 😂😂😂
I've been waiting for an updated version of this video since the release of Legends: Arceus. I'll admit that besides BDSP (which basically re-used the original DP intro with updated graphics and a remixed soundtrack), the intros for the Switch games feel a bit lackluster to me. I have a bad feeling that will also be the case with the Scarlet/Violet intro. The Switch games themselves though are very enjoyable
...other than Arceus, I have to disagree with any of the Switch games being enjoyable. Sure, Sword and Shield seemed fun on the first playthrough, but every route and town was linear, hardly explorable at all with most houses either having no doors, or the houses were just background decoration, the wild area practically used polygons and was empty, all the models were shiny and looked like plastic, the story had so much potential, Looker wasn't even in the region that he was based on, and the DLC was somehow more fulfilling the the actual game itself, but they somehow managed to screw up the one thing that they did right in Let's Go, the following pokemon. I straight up returned BDSP because of how boring and lackluster it was before I had even gotten to Gardenia, and Let's Go, while being the best out of those three, was still not that good.
@@braydenleaderofthetirkins1143 I can’t speak on swsh entirely but some of those problems def seem valid. Let’s go has a gorgeous artstyle and following pokemon in those games were bomb but the overall direction of the games were not to my liking and bdsp honestly feels like a game that should never have existed. Huge agree with arceus, definitely the best 3D pokemon game to date and I hope scarlet and violet continues that tradition
@小陈
Wi-Fiすらないとかstupidですな
@@braydenleaderofthetirkins1143 sadly, I totally agree with you
The one for Crystal will always be my favorite
the old theme is so nostalgic
The opening to legends arceus changes I don’t know if it’s when you’ve beat the main story, post game or caught Arceus but after one of those you can hear the Pokémon games opening being played quietly on a flute
I believe the menu music was added in the Daybreak update and it can be heard in the beginning, though I have to test with my brother's account.
@@MudkipWithShades the theme is heard after you catch Arceus, it wasn't added after the daybreak update and has always been a thing
@@VeiledArctic I made the video a little too early, and it was before I caught Arceus. I didn't know at the time that there's a theme after you catch Arceus.
@@MudkipWithShades That sucks, but I've seen people edit videos after they uploaded them, see if you can maybe do that.
@@VeiledArctic Yep, that’s what I did here too, although I can wait until Scarlet and Violet are released.
Nintendo ds era was definitely Pokémon’s golden age
Switch era is really trash age today
Nope, the golden era was the Gen 3 The Fire Red, Leaf Green version then Shiny Gold and Soul Silver version where u can go two region Johto and Kanto. (Game Boy Advance SP cartridge)
@@strawberryshortcake_1994 Dont forget BW1 the first main game with Pokémon sprites animation and BW2 with Pokémon World Tournament.
Pokemon emerald has the best (press start)screen
9:58 I wish this comes back… Gengar and Nidorino fighting each other!
The moment they include 3D in their intro starts from Diamond/Pearl, we know something will came...
Black 2 and white 2 intros start off so scary
You know that the Legends:Arceus title screen actually plays the pokemon menu theme but it's a slow flute cover
18:23
Plants vs zombies wow
19:10 I find it very amusing that Lugia appears through the water and is a Psychic/Flying type.🤣🤣
When I first saw the start screen of Emerald I straight up thought it's a dragon in green water
6:30 holy shit this goes hard
Still wished Dawn and Lucas had new default outfits in BDSP
What I find funny is that in sword the player has sirfefchd and thievul and in shield the player has lucario and Boltund which are basically Pokémon rivals making them opposites
And then there's Shiny Gyarados and Eternatus, though the latter is legendary.
This video helped me realise the most recent Pokemon game I've played will have its tenth birthday next year. Am I old now?
I'm surprised there's not a remake of Pokemon Emerald, Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Z not being made yet I bet after Gen 9 gets released Gamefreak is gonna make the remakes and Z after 2 to 3 years.
Supposedly we might get a remake in gen 10, but we'll see what happens with the current gen(9) we're moving into.
HGSS includes the story with Suicune, so I don't get what you want.
Unova remakes and Kalos remakes will be released in 2025 or 2027
They have a pattern for releasing remakes
Red, Blue, and Green were released in Japan in 1996, Fire Red and Leaf Green were released in 2004 8 years after the original
Gold and Silver released in Japan in 1999, Heart Gold and Soul Silver released in 2009, 10 years after the originial
Ruby and Sapphire released in Japan in 2002, Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphhire released in 2014, 12 years after the original
Diamond and Pearl released in Japan in 2006, meaning Brillant Diamond and Shining Pearl, should've released in 2020, 14 years after the original, but probably got pushed back a year due to covid complications, even then it's only a year off.
So following that format this is what the remake release schedule should look like.
Black and White- 2026
X and Y- 2031
Sun and Moon- 2036
Sword and Shield- 2041
Scarlet and Violet- 2046
Gen 10 (assuming it realeses in 2025 following the 3 year generation model)- 2051
@@brodynwilson4589 The patern that I believe they actually are following is that a remake is made on each console's first generation, which just so happened to be X time between them, it would feel very weird for them to go "Hey, I wanna make a remake, but wait no, can't need to way 12 more years before !"
crystal version is sooo goooood omggg
I hope scarlet and violet get really good intros! Sword and Shield had so much potential for a good intro but it’s extremely lackluster.
Like they could have shown off the towns. The GIANT wild zones ANYTHING but nope. Stayed in that damn stadium even post game. Having your winning team is cool but garbage compared to everything else we’ve had in the past.
I'd like to think they're rushing the games and they were working on two games(Sw/Sh and Little Town Hero), on top of that.
Nope. All you see is a Pokeball on a table without any music and that's it. Even Sword and Shield's intro was better as there was music and you could see your team used for the Champion title battle.
thanks for the videos
No problem!
pokemon crystal my first pokemon game
You this is every single one of them
The very first Pokemon game I played was Pokemon Crystal, a cartridge my brother borrowed from a friend in school. We all shared the game file between the three of us and it left a deep impression on me.
The first Pokemon game closest to my heart however is Pokemon Ruby because it was the very first game that was my own save file. I can still remember the wonder I felt seeing the vibrant color and animations as I booted up the game. It was the Pokemon world coming to life before my eyes. I became a Gen 3 kid ever since.
I’m sad that Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet don’t have intros anymore 😢
Same, I miss the excitement the older intros had, and it's hard to believe 2017 was only 6 years ago.
I just finished the dlc to scarlet and violet, and the title screen is now a cute piano rendition of the main theme, made me super nostalgic
28:15 Metapod para Presidente tv
Good use of Forestcall as an intro theme. It's a good song
Edit: also yes. Showing that Sw/Sh intro changes to your Champion team after beating Leon, because some people clearly didn't know that
Thank you! And I thought it was a good idea to show that, although I forgot to include some changes for PLA's title screen.
@@MudkipWithShades I only recently started Arceus, plus I usually mash A to get going. But the title changes? Does it change location based on how far you are in the game or something else?
@@venomasmark154 I believe it changes depending on the area you're in. So if you're in Obsidian Fieldlands, it shows one of the areas on the title screen.
Red/Blue/Green/Yellow hits so hard.
Thank you 😢
While Gen 5 BW1 is my favourite because of the title theme, no intro cinematic has ever evoked the wonder and adventure Gen 4 DPPt did.
My favorite menu theme is X & Y
Ruby/Omega Ruby e Saphire/Alpha Saphire são as melhores gerações de jogos!! Melhores aberturas, melhores pokemons iniciais e demais, melhores músicas. Amo!!
Love it
We’ve come so far
2 Months till Scarlet and Violet comes out.
Hey this is every single game
Begin from Sword/Shield, every intro will have changes after complete the game. Both Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet have changes for including the Pokemon theme.
pokemon bw will be forever the best pokemon games that have ever been created
36:05 My only problem with these intros is how the Pokémon fartest to the right (Sword: Sirfetch'd, Shield: Lucario) get blocked by the logo.

Pokémon Emerald for 20th Anniversary
Frontier Brains go to Pasio soon.
ORAS is my favorite
I hope they made a 3ds version for pokemon emerald too
I mean don't get me wrong, alpha ruby and sapphire are great but emerald would have been cooler
Kinda past that, but I do also hope they modernize Emerald too as it has more features better than the original Ruby and Sapphire games. Unfortunately from what I read somewhere, ORAS are still far from perfect remakes(like HGSS) as they lack a lot of features that should've been standard for remakes, such as GBA Sounds as a reward, the Battle Frontier, Mirage Tower, player customization, and Mega Flygon.
Johto remakes will release
After scarlet and violet
BW remakes possibly 2026. On a new Nintendo console too.
hearth gold and soul silver is not remake?
@@hurtekk They are, but the remakes might get a Let's Go game like Pokemon Yellow has.
When FireRed and LeafGreen came out I had thought that there would be something like an OceanBlue or ElectricYellow but they never made blue and yellow remakes😔
It would've been cool to see what they do with ElectricYellow or FairyPink (based on the canceled Pokemon Pink Version).
Waiting for Delta Emerald. If that shit ever drops I will literally shit bricks. Btw That emerald opening is the best imo. That says "adventure" like no other opening.

It was quite an amazing opening for the 3DS!
