Story: The Pearl Oyster

This is a story by Father Mamerto Menapace.
After reading it, each one should ask themselves what they have done with that grain of sand that God has put in their life and that we have the opportunity to turn into a pearl.

A sea oyster was clinging to a rock at the bottom of the sea.
One day, a storm stirred up the ocean floor and a small grain of sand entered it.
Although it quickly closed its valves - it could not prevent it from entering. Very soon, she realized that this grain of sand caused her a lot of pain.
The grain of sand hurt him inside. She tried to expel him, but she couldn't. She couldn't stop thinking about him.
Then, she realized that she could fight against that grain of sand. She could use the solid substances that she already produced and used to make her shell, to wrap the grain of sand and thus prevent it from further harming her. And that's what she did. Little by little, she surrounded the grain of sand that caused her so much pain: That grain, little by little, began to turn into a beautiful pearl.
Many years after she died, some divers went down to the bottom of the sea and found the oyster.
When they brought it to the surface and opened it, they found that inside it was a beautiful pearl.
Normally oysters do not have pearls. They only occur when the oyster surrounds, with the best of itself, that foreign body that is hurting them inside.
Just as happened to the oyster, life puts grains of sand inside us that cause us a lot of pain. In the same way that an oyster cannot produce a pearl without that foreign body, we cannot become a precious pearl if we have not fought against what hurts us and have overcome it.
