- This 53 chevy truck came in my shop another shop had tried to put it on a 2000 gmc 4.3 truck they could not make it work! So we find wrong computer ,no cab mounts ,smashed brake lines to much to list so lets see if we can straighten shorty out!!!!!
you are amazing. not too many guys left that fix old things instead of ordering new. you have inspired me i think i will go out and fix the doors on my old truck. thanks again fine job.

The way you see and reconfigure the build!
You have the Eye
You have probably been told this in the comments already but if not you might like the increased flow and superior custom look of impregnated fleece for a fan shroud. There are plenty of vids on how to make it and it looks much slicker than old AC duct which is probably more suited for something ratty. Good work on the hood! Years ago I har a 4x4 54 chevy and ended up just putting on jeep hood latches because my hood was so rusty! 😂 It was a woods truck and didnt even have door glass so it worked at the time.
What a challenge! It's a great old truck for sure. Must have been a group of kids working on it. Excellent job of sorting all that out. thank you for sharing the repairs.
Great video !! I just stumbled across it, and thought “hey, looks a lot like my ‘49”. Then realized that is is my truck. Awesome to get a few answers to some questions I had about the build.
Just a note to thank you for sharing your talent. I'm sure there were many knuckle bustin jobs on Shorty. What a great job, I love it!
Nice tidy finish from what was started with. Seems to be a labour of love. Hope the owner appreciates your efforts. Great work 😎 👍
Wow, you have patience exceeding that of Jobe TC, little piddly stuff like that is annoying to no end. I'd forgotten I had this other longer-than-usual video to watch, but it's still really appreciated. No wonder all these things take so long, riffle through this, fiddle with that, bang on this, tighten up that, on & on & on... I hate working on other people's mistakes, and at my age, most all of it is actually painful for me. Hahaha... Great job again man, as always. 😎
OH, the first thing I ever drove was a 1949 Chevy PU, like that one but blue. I was 7 & couldn't reach the pedals, my dad needed it moved to the other end of a field a mile away, while he drove a tractor & plow ahead. So, he set the hand throttle on the dashboard like a pull-out choke (but it had that too), and put it in granny 1st gear & jumped out telling me "just keep the wheel straight," ran over to the tractor & raced ahead of me a bit, then jumped in & stopped it at the end. I was scared to death, but we made it. We had that old truck until 1960, sold it with the farm when I was 17. That decade was one of the longest in my life, but that's a whole 'nuther story... 🤠
Shorty smiled when you made that left turn. Like , WOW, I can fur and feel good at the same time. You did a great job my friend. Your work is simple but thorough and it shows in the end product. I really like the stance. Works great with the overall theme.👍👍🤙🤙😁
The audio is not so good but what an outstanding video. I respect your craftsmanship and quality.
Very very impressive work! Learned a lot from your video, thank you!
Really like this truck, I would like to have one with desiel ending
Great work, TC. Your little details are what makes all the diffarance .
Great work, TC. Your attention to all the little details is amazing.
Thanks Ron
Man, I thoroughly enjoyed this Looong Video. I wish you could do them all the time, except I know they're A Lot Harder to make in time it takes. Thanks for this video on this Fine 0l' Chevy Truck.
So....
One year only, being 1951, was the last year these trucks had turn down handles, and first year they introduced the vent window.
1947 thru 1950 had one big door window, and turn down handles. 1952 thru 1955 had the push button handles, and a two piece door window. (One being the vent window)
Thanks again for posting these videos like your attention to the details and putting it together The right way
Wow... nice work. You are an excellent mechanic. I wish i cold lock you in my garage with my 1946 Dodge WC and feed you when necessary. In all seriousness, you are very talented. Great work.
Nice video.
Where do you live? I got a 1951 Chevy 5 window like the one your working on and I was working on my Honda CRV when my garage caught fire and burnt it some. Loved your video and would love to have some fine tuning to it done.
I love your use of words !( Huge can of worms) good work ,l iked watching your video !!!
Sometimes your mic isn't picking up very well when you are too far away. I'm a lover of these fat fender pickups and enjoyed watching you fix all the nagging little things. I'll subscribe.👍
Nice truck my favorite truck in 2019
I admit I am older, and prefer the older methods. But I have never understood why so many people want to use an S10 chassis. From what I have seen, they never work right without a lot of unnecessary modifications. But as I said, I prefer old school hot rod mods.😎
Excellent work Brother.
That’s one cool Ford I sure hope it’s got A Super Chevrolet Powerplant. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!☝️😃
It’s a 53 Chevy.
One cool furd??? Lol
J P one of my friends has a 64 comet with chev 406 Ci he hates me to call it chevomit lmao. . Got to have Chevy power to go fast . Thanks 🙏
Chuck's Truck, He probably is referring to the other vehicle that is occasionally in the shot. It's a Ford.
Ronald Lewis, my dad used to have an old Ford F250 that we put a Chevy motor & tranny in. We always called it a "Ch-ord".
wow looks like the gmc im fixin to start on it will be on a 96 s10 frame with a 98 4.3 5spd hydroboost brakes keeping floor pedals and a bunch of other cool tricks it amazes me what people with supposed skills will put their name on
I have a 1958 GMC 100 long bed. Any idea what modern frame will fit under mine? Thanks!
I like how he keeps referring to it as "yours". Makes me think it's mine lol
Pretty sure its a documentary for the owner.
@@brandondeabreu5312 yeah which is weird since he probably had the truck delivered before the vids were ever uploaded. Seems more like some CYA evidence for legal defense as insurance.
Great video on a beautiful old truck. Just one point. Is it possible to get someone behind the camera instead of it being on a tripod. This way when you are showing us small parts, you are not showing us from 10 feet away where we can't even see what's in your hand. The camera operator can walk up to you and zoom in close up so we can actually see what your doing, what you have done. But you do really great quality work, thank you for taking the time to make the truck right
Thanks for the comment but I do it all by myself and its a tall order doing the work, running the shop, running the camera editing and posting the videos I love my job but its like a one armed paperhanger around here!
Hey buddy, I've been watching your channel for almost 3 hours straight!! I'm hooked and drooling over the Cummins/Allison Bronco build. I'm curious how you got the mechanical Cummins 5.9 to work with the 4th Generation controls of the Allison?
It a custom built unit from Excalibur with a stand alone computer thanks for watching
How do those aluminum radiator work what's the normal engine temp with 1
A surgeon at work👍🏼
Nice work. I cant believe the brake lines. Can the ugly later model grill be swapped for the five bar like the grill on this one? Are those grill pricy?
Uhhh you mean the 54-1st series 55 grille??? Ill swap ya!!
Is the frame from a Jimmy/S-10 or Sierra ? ..and if it's from a Sierra , was it a stepside ? ...jus wonderin ...
Mui bueno 👍
You guys do some fantastic work.. Are u ready for my 39 chevy?
I had a 39 master as my first car-- it was $50! (Back then i had to norrow the 50 too)
Awsome mate
Does anyone know where Bay One Customs is located?
What do you think of the s10 frame swap? This the first one you have seen?
I am battling between.. IFS swap on stock frame with some frame mods; s10 swap; or just go full custom.
I have been reading interesting complaints about the s10 swap.
Youre better off doing a monte carlo or caprice or earlier dodge dakota for the right width.
@@danielbuckner2167 @ whats wrong with s10 width????
@@gerardolopez5875 Do you have the stock Chevy advance design chassis and wheels? You can measure them and the S10 and see very quickly that the S10 is too narrow. It isnt even off by being too wide for a "stanced" look but too narrow which gives the fenders a dorky overlapped parade float look. Guys have to put wheel spacers on to make it work and tben that causes its own issues with wear. Monte carlo or nova or dakota all are the right width and there are lots of aftermarket. Hell even cutting the bottom plate off the S10 and then cutting it in half and widening it and welding the bottom plate back would work better if you can weld and measure.
@@danielbuckner2167 @ no i dnt have the stock 50 chassis, starting with cab fenders ,, Only, What do u mean cutting the plate s10?
@@gerardolopez5875 I was thinking of another Xmember when I said that--oops! We would cut the skid plate off and then trim down and weld it back on.
👍😍❤❤
Bought off eBay.....
From a custom truck builder...
Who ever worked on it before you did put no thought into what they were doing.
What rearend woud be good to put under one using a s10 frame. i
3.70:1
What do u mean that battery is where it needs to be???? That looks like shit! Put it in its place! I have an LS 6.0 in mine and the battery is in its original place as it should be!!!
I like a clean firewall too but some people have more carpet and soundproofing and custom mats in the way and it can be easier access under the hood. Plus the frame has been swapped so it not exactly original in case you didnt notice the engine didnt say "blue flame" on it.😉
How do you get factory gauges to work with the modern setup
Most hacks just made a modified bezel or face to fit them and it looks like a dogs ass but you can also buy some pricier custom gauges that cost as much as the typical donor vehicle! You can also just mod your old gauges to use analog info and set up some small LEDs for indicator lights if you want dummy lights too.
I REALY LIKE THE WAY YOU WORK GOOD JOB MAN OHIO
How in tge hell do u just move the engine back? Ypu make it sound so easy
Different engine mounts and shorten the shaft, simple!!!
@@JP-xg8cd dont forget to move or make the trans mount, install longer trans cooling lines, rework the shifter linkage or cut out floor for a floor shifter, install longer radiator hoses... but yeah other than that, simple! Is the original builder of this truck a buddy of yours? 😂😂😁✌
