I watched this game live , I was a big fan of Cruyff , he was a genius and ticked all the boxes ,skilful ,smart ,charismatic and the boss on the field . this is the first time I notice him not wearing no 14 , I thought that was his regular number ...As Iran fan I had mix feelings not seeing him in world cup 1978 , would have loved to see him there and ideally sit on the bench against Iran and then run havoc against the likes of Argentina . yes don't remind me ,we lost 3-0 to Holland with 2 penalty kicks !
Some of the moves he made on the pitch made me travel to the future referring that I was there in 1977. Those moves remind me of Xavi. The way they both moved on the pitch was eerie. Very similar. RIP Cruyff.
Totally agree Samuel, Cruyff was way ahead of his time, a visionary. For 5ft 11" he had a surprisingly low centre of gravity, his 180 degree turn of direction on a sixpence is still one of the fastest I have ever seen.

But best made it look faster and better and he did it while the ball was coming to him about a foot of the ground he controled it then in the same move and motion he turn with ball as he was trapping it at the same time. Cruyff did not go because of his familie geing kidnapped earlier that year. Van henegem did not go i think due to a quarrel with the team coach. And by the way in 74 the germans won with a fixed penalty. The 78 tournament was in a dictatorship and argentina got to the finale, that we almost won in the last minute btw anyway, by at least one fixed match. Thank you for your informed oppinion.
