How to Make a Glass Bottle Cutter

  • This video is about how to make a glass bottle cutter that I used in my “How to Cut Glass Bottles” video 🍾( • How to Cut Glass Bottl... )🍾 The glass bottle cutter makes it very easy to cut glass bottles. It works using a glass cutter that etches or scribes a line at the desired location. Apply heat evenly around the scoreline by rotating the bottle over a candle. Then, rub an ice cube around the scoreline. Repeat this process until the bottle breaks apart. Recycling wine bottles is an excellent way to create drinking glasses, lamps, vases, and other items from the cut bottles. Alternatively, you can purchase a glass-cutting jig if you prefer not to make it yourself.

    I MAKE glass wind chimes using an old TV transformer and nicrome wire. I heat up the cut line with the wire and then squirt it with water. This cracks the glass. It takes 4 cuts to make one ring. When I have enough glass rings I fire them in a high fire kiln. When they cool off I file the rough edges off and match them for size, flatness and colour. Then I string them up with fishing wire.

    I worked in an industrial paint shop where we also did glazing. We never used heat or cold to cut glass just scored it with a glass cutter then VERY GENTLY tapped along the score mark with the back of the glass cutter, you could watch the crack travel along the score line until it fell apart! No heat No cold!

    hello I buy a bottle cutter on amazon, when I do the line after I take hot and cold water to make the glass cut, but the cut is rarely perfect so do you have an idea what to buy for a finish perfect ? I read that a pumice or diamand stone is good but I do not know where to buy it, do you think it's my machine that does not draw a good line? can you help me please

    • @AshleeMaRee93
      @AshleeMaRee93 Před 4 lety +1

      Make sure you only score the cut line once. The hot and cold water technique is popular but it heats and cools a large area of the bottle. This is likely to lead to imperfect cuts and cracks in your bottle. If you use the candle and ice cube technique youre more likely to get a successful clean cut.
