One correction to Mike. If you are unemployed, like me, no longer working due to health problems,my NHS bill has still actually been paid by the 37 years of taxation I contributed. Of course,plenty now in this country are receiving free health care. Just please remember to differentuate between us.
An important point.
When the British Army was issued with the SA80 rifle it had so many problems it was called the “Civil Servant” on account that it did not work and you could not fire it.

Chief Mammy Sturgeon is plank of all eternity. Esther is completely right, the devolved powers should not have had any say in the pandemic response, and the weakness of Bozza has led to this madness of different rules in Cumbernauld, Craigavon, Carlisle and Cardiff.

my best friend from high school died the day after Betty White did. She was diagnosed with colon cancer just before covid broke out...after a treatment or 2, her chemo was suspended. By the time they started up again, the cancer was all over her abdomen.
I remember being told in 1975 that I wasn't allowed in a pub (Aberdeen) because they 'didn't have any facilities for women'. I replied 'I don't want to use your facilities, I just want a drink.' For my 'cheek' I was allowed ONE drink before I had to leave ...

Every few days this year I've had sniffles, no I won't take tests I 've had three jabs plus a booster if that doesn't work .Why ? have I had them. At 77 I'll take my chance now !!!!

Given the size of the off the book public sector pension debts, Public sector workers are in for a massive shock. They will lose their pensions for the simple reason the public cannot afford to pay them

I was in the UK when the NHS was having one of its usual crises in the early part of the current millennium. Fortunately, in the UK, private insurance and health services are allowed. In Canada they are not. In Canada, what people do is to go to the US. don't forget that Canada, as vast as it is, has almost all of its population withing 50 miles of the US border. It is not unusual for a Canadian, experiencing a health problem, to go the US and then register the problem, In the US they will be immediately treated. In Canada, they would be on a waiting list, which may extend for years. Frankly, they might never get treated. This is the case in the UK as well. And believe me, I have been on the NHS and lived in England. This socialized medicine is foolish.
It is not perfect, but at least it does not lead to the bankruptcy of those who cannot afford their treatment.

Trudeau is deserving but really should be in the Foreign POTW along with Harry/Megan , Macron , Aherne , Biden et al . Otherwise it’s a dead heat between Grauniad and honours system. If you become head of a Whitehall department you automatically get a knighthood, you are well paid for it and you get gold plated pension as well. Either scrap honours altogether or make them publicly nominated: Blair wouldn’t stand a chance!
Honours are NOT the decision of The Queen. How many more times does this have to be stated. All honours (with the exception of the Order of Merit, which IS in the gift of the Sovereign) are nominated by family, friends, colleagues etc and decided upon by a POLITICAL/CIVIL SERVICE COMMITTEE.
One thing to say to anyone with darker skin you need lots of vitamin D .. It's not racist it's fact!

Why is the NHS comparison always with the USA? What about France, Spain, Germany, Holland? All have excellent health services with more beds per 1000 people than the U.K. have.

Does that taxi driver realise how much more CO2 he is breathing in? ....from 400 parts per million to an incredible 10,000 parts in no time at all.....it's so unhealthy it's unbelievable. I actually feel so glad that these people are making themselves ill because they try to preach to others....the poor children I feel sorry for though.
It reminds me of the one guy who confronted me about not wearing a mask back in 2020. It was in a shop and he kicked off about me not considering his health if I give him the virus. Then he went to the counter and bought cigarettes.
Years ago nurses and other NHS employees joined because it was a vocation. Unfortunately, it is now no longer but just career growth and hence an expensive and big hierarchy . eg nurses income tax in 1963 was in the region of 2shillings and sixpence per month.

Self isolation should be five days, i asked a consultant and he said ten days was the Government, but there was no problem after five days.
