    Some good mods there, thanks for the update.
    Whale pump looks a good investment, I have same “curling” problem - even with a Colapz - the curly pipe hits the ball float resulting in overflow.
    Keep up the good work

    Thanks for all the tips guys.
    On the “straightening” the pump hose question, I bought a length of stiff plastic pipe just larger in diameter than the pump hose. I cut the stiff pipe to the correct length to reach the bottom of the aqua roll, removed the filter from the end of the original hose, fed the original hose through the stiff plastic pipe and re-installed the filter on the end. It works a treat, and is a lot cheaper than a fitting.
    The idea of the new whale pump is however tempting as it appears better quality, and the push button fitting is better.

    Great update, and answered my question from last night. Looking at the images on the net of the Whale pump I thought they were all external pumps and not a filter. We pick our new Swift Challenger up next week, so your experiences are most useful to us. Big difference in operating systems from our 2006 Compass Omega to the new Swift and the command system. Many Thanks, keep up the good work.

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  Před 5 lety

      Hi, Although this does have the submersible pump, in our case it’s not used. The water is drawn from the onboard pipe & works perfectly. It really is a worthwhile investment in our opinion 👍🏻 Enjoy your new Swift Challenger, let us know how you get on. Keith & Michele

    • @gnarlyboot477
      @gnarlyboot477 Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Keith & Michele, so I completed the hand over on our new Challenger today, and fully agree with your description of the Truma connection. The design and quality of the fitting Is atrocious. As is the quality of the small hinged covers for all the external connection to the van. So I think I will be taking the plunge and going down the Whale route, although I may try and detach the external pump and replace it with the original Truma end filter. I’m a little concerned that the pump may restrict the volume of water, as it draws passed the impeller. Until I get a replacement I’ve added a bracelet of stainless steel penny washers to hose using cable ties. I’ll let you know how we progress. PS had a disaster with my trade in, floor suffered badly from damp. We’ve submitted an article to Practical Caravan Magazine explaining our experience, so if they decide to publish you can read the full story there.
      Many Thanks From John & Alison

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi John & Alison, we would suggest you try it with the pump on first as the weight of the pump makes the pipe sink to the bottom of the aqua roll. Although the impeller is redundant, the water is drawn through (in our opinion) far better than the original Truma version. Look forward to seeing the article in Practical Caravan magazine 👍🏻 Congratulations on your new caravan, enjoy 😀 Keith & Michele

    Keith the Whale replacement for the Aqua role is it a dummy pump on the end?

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Colin, The Whale replacement is a submersible pump that drops into your aqua roll. On ours it is not used as our caravan has an onboard pump, so no external connectors for the Whale pump. The water is still drawn through the pipe & works effortlessly 👍🏻 Unfortunately, you are paying a substantial percentage for the pump that you do not use. The fact that this replacement works & is far superior to the original Truma part justifies it in our opinion. Hope this helps, thanks for watching, Keith & Michele.

    Hi Keith & Michelle. As I'm new to caravanning this year 2019 I have found your channel and many others on CZcams invaluable. Thank you so much for your helpful advice.
    Question re Truma inlet pipe curling problem. As my inlet pipe only has a light weight filter that sits in the aqua roll, is the Whale replacement suitable as it has a pump and not a filter? I have an on board pump I’m my Swift. Thank you.

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  Před 4 lety

      Hi Vincent, Welcome to our channel & many thanks for your kind words. The Whale water pipe will work as it has an inbuilt filter/pump. Although the pump is not used, the additional weight stops the pipe from curling. We wouldn’t be without it 👍🏻 Hope this helps, best wishes, Keith & Michele.

    It looks as if some design features are a retrograde step. The equivalent wire rack in our 2009 Swift does pull out on runners as it did on our even earlier caravan. The whale replacement intake pipe looked like it had a submersible pump on the end. Is it just a casing or an actual pump?

    • @keithandmichele
      @keithandmichele  Před 5 lety

      Hi Colin, We had the identical wire basket in our previous caravan which was on runners. Don’t understand why it’s not fitted as standard on all Swifts 🤔 We think the Whale replacement pipe has a submersible pump on the end as it has two connectors on the other end that you connect to the caravan. These don’t connect to anything on our caravan as we have an onboard pump. We were concerned when it arrived but was assured that it is the correct part for our caravan & it works absolutely fantastically 👍🏻 Thanks for watching, Keith & Michele
