- Murphy, NC - this town is the county seat of Cherokee County & sits right in the middle of a beautiful setting of mountains on the far west tip of North Carolina.
Originally called Huntington in the 1820s - it wasn't till 1839 the town received it's current name today. The town of Murphy is named after Archibald D. Murphey. Murphey ( yes spelled different) was a well known member of the NC legislation , professor, and was referred to as the " Father of Education"
This beautiful town with a population less than 2,000 people is a great place to vacation or live.

I miss that beautiful place. We own 10 acres in Peach Valley River Mountain. It's been 5 years the last time we were there.

Maverick Good - i do not live there but visit frequently and it's a very nice place to live. Beautiful landscapes with plenty of lakes and a small town atmosphere. Appreciate your comments and watching.

@@maverickgood5204 thank you for subscribing and welcome to the channel. Currently I live close to Charlotte but just like you - I'm looking for land in that area also. If you want to be away from everything Hayesville and Hiawassee is an awesome place to live . If you want to be in the city a little more - Murphy, Asheville, and Hendersonville are great cities also.
@@hi-techhikers Asheville is ok to visit every now and then but I'd rather not be that close. I like nature and quiet. Hayesville looks interesting. But the land on zillow looks a lot more expensive than around murphy. I wonder why that is. Maybe zillow is overpriced?
