  • The Park Shrimp is a 'modern classic' and needs no introduction!
    A great all round fly that will take first from the first to the last day of the season and a fly that travels very well, having caught fish throughout the UK & Ireland, Scandinavia and Russia.
    Its one of a group and style of tying developed by Ross Macdonald. You can listen a bit more about this style of tying from Ross himself in the Mairi Shrimp demo here on FTS.

    Ross puts the the varnish on the thread wrapped on the tube itself rather than the thread strand, and then makes the gold dubbing quite loose and straggly.

      Thanks and lots of different techniques, that’s why I always enjoy watching others tie as you always see something new 👍

    Beautiful tying. Have you a video of the kinermoney killer? I’d love to see that, it’s my favourite fly to tie.

      Thanks Fergal and it’s not a pattern I’ve tied, though I agree it’s a great looking pattern! Will add it to my ‘to do’ list 😉👍👍

    great video, does that plastic tube have no inner ?

    • @AndrewMcGall
      @AndrewMcGall  Před 3 lety

      thanks Jamie and no with smaller sized coneheads I just use one length of plastic tubing (generally Eumer size small) and then some junction tubing at the end for the hook and cone at the front. I find this is strong and rigid enough, though for bigger flies and in particular heavier cones I would up the diameter of the tubing. Hope this helps!

    Do you ever bother with tube flies for the Dollaghan???

    • @AndrewMcGall
      @AndrewMcGall  Před 4 lety +1

      WeeManSham not usually, I have tried them and they do work, especially in big water, but prefer doubles mostly 😉🎣🎣👍

      The Dollaghan can be difficult to hook & land with the hard boney mouth! Big sudden pulls then nothing! It can be frustrating but really rewarding out at night & boom!! 🎣 I’ll Look forward to the Dollaghan flies. Cheers.

      WeeManSham yep the dollies can be frustrating but also great craic.. not knowing if it’s a 2lber or a 20lber 🎣🎣😄👍👍
