When's your next Sci-Fi video?
-Ah yes let me just trust this woman I just met
-Ah yes let me just trust this priest who tells me to kill the most trusted man in the empire
-Ah yes let me use necromancy in my kings face
-Oh no the priest was a liar?
-At least he is gone
+Ah yes let us abandon the very thing that defends us from the hoard of killing beasts whom we saw before of what they can do if they break our defense because the dude who planned it all out knows 2 necromantic spells that we know he used totally not to save our land
We aRe sO FkInG SmARt and LoGicAl...
I also love Chaos perpetually assaulting the regenerating wall
'Should we use all these ships we have? The ones that killed the Dwarf Navy and blockaded Erengrad. And just...go around the wall?'
"Nah, imma headbut the wall till it breaks"
I mean guys, Gelt's reasoning is thoroughly explained in the books. He was exhausted, frustrated and extremely scared for his Empire, his status and his life if he couldn't manage to replicate his feat in Sylvania with the Auric Bastion. He wasn't stupid, he was just an extremely proud and lonely man, in no condition to work anymore...
Let's remember that W&W hasn't covered all the undead antics thus far.
Then, it's not "a priest", it's the Ar-Ulric himself. Volkmar is dead and the new Grand Theogonist is a fanatic who hates Gelt from the get go. And the Ar-Ulric and Gelt and Gelt had developed a deep friendship for years.
And one of the reasons why Gelt was a bit mistrusted is because the raids by ship didn't stop at all. It's just that Chaos isn't a single force with a single navy, most tribes were simply land bound and didn't know about the bastion until well into Kislev. Gutrot Spume for once never once bothered assaulting the bastion via land.
I mean, I get disliking the End Times and even disliking the whole narrative direction they've taken the characters, but some of these comments are just disingenuous. There's plenty of reasons to dislike the End Times without wrongly portraying its events haha
Pizzifrizzo, The biggest one for me is the cult simply giving up on the bastion simply because felt used necromancy.
â@@timberthus2562Yeah, if it's the end of the world just work with the vampires. Also Gelt used a necromancy spell to save the emperor, so what? Regardless of how dumb he was, that just shows his loyalty
@@kharnthebetrayer8251 đđđ
The End Times frustrate me immensely, there are so many dumb and tactical mistakes by characters who were otherwise strategic geniuses. Reminds me alot of the ending of Game of Thrones.
Yeah. GW didn't care enough to give it a proper story.
@@Rellana1 which was purely due to the fact they werenât making âenoughâ money from it. So they figured f it weâll destroy it all. What they failed to realize was that they simply priced the vast majority of people out of it.
@@forrestdorman4870 For sure. The prices I saw to field a decent army were stupid to the extreme.
@@forrestdorman4870 Yeah, they saw 40k making more money, so switched it to Age of Sigmar, which made it play like 40k
Then, since nobody was playing it since there was just 40k with the same mechanics, they just blew up the world and switched fully to 40k
I mean technically if they made no mistakes they will still lose.
That's the power of the writers.
I continue to be amazed that Humanity and its Allies refuse to actually utilize their fortresses. Like, whatâs the point of building them if youâre just going to fight right outside itâs gates? If anything the fortresses seem to work against them, as they block the path of retreat. Smh
That happens in any kind of fiction, realy, and that's sad and stupid. But then in fiction, fortresses never seem to work as well as they did in real life and they get stormed within a day or so anyway...
sallying out of a fort is a real life tactic , as just holding a fort siege requires supplies , and a large army would be starved out if that happens .
@@InstituteSynth but seiges with armies in castles or forified cities can last years, the empire that is regulary attacked by chaos reall should have these forts proivioned for a long seige.
@@Tommonius yeah you have a point but considering the battle covered here they were caught off guard and probably were not expecting anyone to break through the enchanted wall so I don't think they had provisions for a siege , the were surprised and had to react quickly so they sallied forth retreating to the fort only when the battle seemed lost to find refuge in the walls , but from that point on the surprise was gone and you are correct they really should have utilized their defences after that.
@syrtar Agreed, that's why I qualified "in fiction". IRL fortresses were great and even a small garrison could hold of a much larger force for months. But in fiction they always seem to fall to storm within a day or two.
The best section of the series, will be the last of the Grail Knights making one last charge along with the last of the Vampire Blood Knights. Imagine how the writers felt, knowing what they had to do to the universe.
Louen Leoncoeur standing alone against Ku'gath Plaguefather in the Temple of Shallya is a solid honourable mention
@@Sigismund until Louen then unceremoniously got his head sawed off by Festus (at least thatâs what I remember having happened)⌠That was pretty stupid
@@jordinagel1184 depends on if you go with the novelization or the background book that came paired with the rules. Given that the background book is the worse of the two every time, I treat it as the more unreliable narrator and defer to the novels pretty much every time.
@@Sigismund and which of the two did Louenâs demise at the hands of Festus occur?
@@jordinagel1184 Both, but the anticlimactic decapitation is only in the background book. The novel gives a better send off. Getting killed by Festus after soloing Ku'gath isn't an issue, imo. It's the 'how' of it happening.
Khornate Berserker: Blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne, milk for the khornfla-*head explodes*
Empire Handgunner: Handgunners a good job mate, its challenging work, outer doors and I guarantee you'll never go hungry.
Meet the Empire Handgunner : (Tf2 Sniper Ost plays)
The end times is what it is, its not perfect, but to me one of the characters they got right was Vlad, I just love how they made him noble and ancient and the greatest ally of humanity when it really came down to the end of the world.... contrast that with the absolute stupidity of another Von Carstein.
Vlad fully believed himself as the rightful empire
He wanted to rule it, not destroy it.
Archaon is trying to raze HIS empire
I must admit, I prefer this art style much more than the "realistic" looking Sigmar series.
Same
Bruh that actually had the animation of 3d porn
Imagine being a nation so powerful that the company had to give the bad guys more plot armor just to stop you lmao
It's worse than you think xD. The first end times, Storm of Chaos was originally an ORDERTIDE. In that when it happened it was base off the actual player community results of games played and results tallied. The problem was that they released a chaos codex alongside it that was absolute shit from what I recall so Chaos did horrible with the exception of the Orcs and Skaven. So they had to bullshit their way around how Chaos got to the final battle in the first version despite losing every major battle.
In the new version they just straight up write everyone as morons because they didn't want a repeat of chaos getting assraped again.
Gelt :- Imma prepare a bastion to save humanity .
Also Gelt :- Alright the Empire is completely unaware of the fact of the Chaos agents inside its lands . Lets forget about the bastion .
TBF, walls do crap if the eneny is already inside
â @@amandag.6186jokes on gelt
Like all terrible endings to great stories, there are moments of redemption and the culmination of excellent character building, and Vlad Von Carstein is one of them
Vlad, Gelt, Mannfred, Kurt Helborg, Festus, Nagash, Ungrim... A lot of nice moments, a pity for the elves and (mostly) the greenskins, they really got the short end of the stick for the ET.
Manfred:fuck peace and happiness *Stabs Gelt*
8:36 Shouldn't the Patriach of the Eight Colleges of Magic know better than to trust random and mysterious magic given by a mysterious figure he know nothing about and who disappeared just as mysteriously?
22:47 that's one of the (many) points i don't understand, he was too exhausted to use Chamon magic but not too exhausted to use necromancie, a magic he is less familiar with than Chamon. Go figure. Not to mention he just believe the priest of Ulric on his good word without even trying to confirm it beforehand. Even without the demon, it's not like Ulric Cult was very friendly with Sigmar Cult and thus, to the Chosen of Sigmar.
23:43 like seriously, the hordes threatens to destroy the empire, the auric bastion is the only thing stopping them, and the priests just walk away? you do wonder how dumb they can be.
is there a reason why Gelt can use both gold and necromancy? I thought humans could only use one type of magic no matter how hard they tried
@@agrippa2012 not exactly, the Dhar, the dark magic, is a conglomerat of all the winds, it's chaos in its most purest, evilest state and humans can use it. But using it is very dangerous and tend to destroy/transform/corrupt the caster which is why the elves taught humans to use only one Wind to diminish the risks.
@@agrippa2012 Necromancy uses a type of magic called Dhar which is made of all the other types of magic squished together. It's easier to use but corrupting.
@@agrippa2012 any mage can use any magic, its just a matter of training
The Elves use all winds, but humans dont live that lomg, so they taught them a simpler version to focus on 1 wind
Gelt is the best wizard in the Empire. He could definitely learn more winds if he wanted to
For the last question, the Cult of Sigmar basically refuses to support the Bastion after Geltâs dealings with necromancy is revealed to all, deeming the work to be heretical if it was created by a corrupted man. Even Karl Franz wishes Volkmar the Grim were still alive instead of the then-head of the church Kaslain as he may have had a different reaction to the news of Gelt.
Side note: the Order of the Templars of Sigmar, aka the Witch Hunters, persecute the entire Golden Order, the order to which Gelt belongs to, as they suspect that Geltâs corruption reached to all of them. This allows the Amber Wizard Gregor Martak to become the Supreme Patriarch with Geltâs absence.
The End Times are very frustrating, but your videos are not! ;)
Keep the WH videos coming guys! Thank yooou! :)
The cult of Sigmarr really be like damn you used necromancy? Now we gotta let them kill us
To anyone with no previous knowledge of Warhammer, if a lot of this lore looks stupid, trust me, itâs because it is and Warhammer fans hate it
Im still holding on to the hope that the last episode of this series will only be 2 minutes long with the narrator just saying "Chaos has won easily and that human sized rat people destroyed an entire continent, pillaged the rest of the world and also blew the moon to bits I guess".
@@cpom5075 âalso Chaos won because the bald vampire decided to be a dick at the WORST possible time.â

Wolfram possible last thoughts: "What about that, you filthy blob? Today we're going together!"

How about a bio on Karl Franz?
It was done beautifully, your channel is unrivaled truly. I hope you do more videos on Warhammer later other than the end times, other corners of the world too, like Lustria, Ulthuan, the southlands, Araby or Nehekkara, Warhammer is basically war everlasting!
Wait, I thought Castle Rasckpire was next to the Auric Bastion. Why on the map appears all the way down in Sylvania?
I was eating when I heard about Squarespace. I almost died choking on my laughter because of it. Well done!

Balthasar Gelt
plays Paranoid in the backround....
I do hope the "Storm of Chaos" gets covered someday. Fun to compare the difference when the owner isn't trying to blow up the world.
That'd be chaos losing 90 percent of the battles but somehow getting to the final battle xD
Pretty much, but if nothing else there is details on how those battles went on the old Storm of Chaos website so their is enough info to make a few videos out of it. @@thirstyserpent1079
Keep the warhammer coming!
30k videos would do awesome
My favorite faction, for the sol reason, is that he has a golden mask like Aurelian.
Theres a story known as storm of chaos which is a paralell story of end times you should look it up.
Could be a interesting story to do a video on.
What is the difference
Itâs good seeing the Empire army in action from the actual Warhammer Fantasy Battles Game. And the Vampire Counts too.
Kings and Generals/Wizards and Warriors I love your highly detailed, top-down videos depicting battles but there are several errors here. The battle itself takes place at the Ostermark village of Alderfen. The composition of the Empire and Chaos forces are a bit different too: yes, Wolfram Hertwig, Elector Count of Ostermark, leads the Empire forces and Festrak Krann, Chaos Lord of Nurgle, leads the Chaos forces but there are no Plague Toads, instead the Great Unclean One (Greater Daemon of Nurgle) Gurugâath of the Endless Rot is present along with a Mutalith Vortex Beast, Aeson the Fallen. Also, Hertwigâs army is a mix of Middenland, Talabheim, Nordland, Wissenland and Ostermark soldiery and his Runefang is called Troll Cleaver, well known to prevent unnatural regeneration. I can go into how the battle goes down a bit differently in the book.
Also, Iâm assuming that Nagashâs third and final resurrection will be covered in another video but that would go onto explain why Vlad von Carstein is back: he was killed at the end of the First Vampire War but is brought back as the Mortarch of Shadow.
Still, a great video!
good guy Vlad
I cannot wait for the next episode now! Why? Because I wanted to know what happened next! If anyone knows spoilers, please give them to me because I wanted to know what happened next!
Just go read the Warhammer wiki then :)
I swear to Chaos if you pronounce Arkhan the Black's name the way Archaon the Everchosen is mean to actually be pronounced...
I'll make the End Times look like a tuesday
IKR? i mean for the love khorne, please get it right...
@@christoffereilskov5006 What about the pronunciation of Dwarfs. It's there a reason he says it like that?
Yeah cant believe nobody is mentioning it ArchAon ffs not Archon

damn good video
Vlad von Carstein, that's my Emperor, I will fight under him in defend the living and those who came before, and when I am slain he will raise me so that I may fight to protect once more.
the downside of talking about archaon at all is we had to talk about end time
HE'S STILL SAYING "ARCON" ._. ITS AR-KAY-ON
The biggest plot-armor in the End Times, was that Chaos had an army of millions and millions. And I'm talking about the "human" warriors of Chaos. How did the freezing North, had a bigger population than most of the Old World and Lustria? The armies that came down to attack were seemingly endless rows of Chaos forces, each. The ones who attacked the Empire, the ones who attacked Kislev, the ones who attacked the Dark Elves...and THEN came Archaeon with even MORE Chaos. This is absolutely ridiculous.
Jup the same goes for the Skaven. They didn't win in a Skaven way. Every battle is just, they outnumbered or digged a tunnel. Done
The "End Times" was the worst mistake Games Workshop ever made - but they are too pig headed to admit it.
Agreed. AoS has gotten progressively better but that the game. The setting is STILL missing the lore richness that the old world had.
@@forrestdorman4870 We both can agree that AoS has improved over past years.
Though if you won't mind, could you elaborate "missing the lore richness"?
@@TheVergoner well fantasy was an established setting and kingdoms had their unique identities and games were built showing what they looked like and we have a good idea what the people their are like.
Their is also 20 years of characters living and dying in fantasy that adds to the lore, it is telling that aos basically relies on old characters from a setting GW threw away to make it popular, clearly killing of fantasy was a mistake
@@TheVergoner thatâs a tough one to fully explain. The lore to put it simply is as wide as Lake Superior and as deep as a shallow creek. Thereâs lots of stuff and locations and named characters but itâs all fairly uninteresting to just shallow. There are nearly no maps except some that are again shallow. Few named locations except the major places. The planes are these GIANT places expanding across locations many times the size of the old world that was. But there are few named cities or towns. You donât have grand campaigns of the past like Vlads attempt to take over the empire. Or the many invasions of Chaos before the end times. The world rarely feels lived in. There are few nations with detailed backstories. The world of AoS is filled with these grandiose feats of the gods and this age of myth but little to no detail. We really donât know the details behind the age of chaos. Except again the MOST general of information.
This video is going to be painful to watch
Weâre happy it isnât the Lizardmen, chaos Dwarfs, and eastern kingdoms

Please do one on the Gundam Universe
Maybe other animes as well; Naruto (The 5 Nations and Great Ninja Wars), Fullmetal Alchemist (the history of Amestris) or One Piece (The World Government and Pirates).
Or even Record of Grancrest War, which some consider an anime equivalent of Game of Thrones.
While there are some nice things in the Endtimes, overall they are just garbage I 100% ignore. Ok, not 100%, but it was just a Chaos Invasion that got repelled, so?
Thank you for another WHFB video!
Are we getting a GyroGelt meme in this video?
These videos are my favorite, and I do not care about the economics of Mordor. Y'all are missing a lot of potential with everyone's attention on the Horus Heresy right now. None of the lore channels have ever done the Horus Heresy Campaigns from a top-down military strategy perspective. We have full maps fo the Imperium at different stages and the 9 Heresy Campaign "Black Books" are filled to the brim with information nevermind the novels. As someone who's read all the Horus Heresy and Siege of Terra novels, I would absolutley watch a series devoted to the story mapping out the movements from system to system from a military strategy perspective that y'all are so good at.
This there was a lot of happen in durney end times
You guys should eventually make some videos on Gotrek and Felix, that would be awesome.
