However, Ryley couldn't quite win his group the next day (top 32 from stage 1 are moved to 8 groups of 4 each and only the winner of each group advances to the monthly finals)

It's not hard for me. The hard part is that you get very tired once you're a few days in. If you're just trying to lose weight I'd suggested doing intermittent fasting where you skip a meal. Or you could stick to your regular diet but add some healthier food to it and go on an overall calorie deficit
