Dollar general ripped you off. They are dirty and unkempt. The prices on the shelf are not what your charged. They advertise sale prices and then charge you full price. You have to watch them like a hawk. They have been sued in several states.

butter used to come in one pound cubes...imagine all four sticks of butter melded into one....that's why the vintage looking butter dishes are that size, like the early early 1900's, before the first world war....
Yes my grandparents were small dairy farmers grandpa would take his milk in the old fashion milk cans when picked up his cans they would have the cubes of butter in them it was the best
Also in the 80s if you got govt cheese n butter, you got the lb block of butter that way too.
I miss that awesome cheese and butter from the 80s

I remember it being very crumbly and dry, it’s been such a VERY LONG TIME THOUGH…
Those loaves of cheese WERE HUGE THOUGH, they put a Velveeta log to shame, it looks like the mini version next to the big ol’ Govt Cheese logs!
As for the butter, I guess maybe I wasn’t old enough to really pay attention to the butter or the quality of it. However, we used to have a slice of buttered bread (plain ol’ white bread) with dinner every single night and I DO REMEMBER thinking that it was so good! I’m guessing it was probably the butter that took it over the top, not the cheap loaf of white bread…

@lyssalove5081 I practically lived off grilled cheese sandwiches and Mac n cheese. I ate a lot of buttered bread or toast too. I guess that's why I thought it was awesome. Lol and yes it was a huge loaf Velveeta does look mini sized in comparison. Hahaha
My kitchen and dining room are decorated in lemons, 🍋 strawberries 🍓and bees.🐝 I'm always on the lookout for new items. I do like dollar general.

Every summer I have done Patriotic in my dinning room, my hutch I set up as a Farmer's market w/faux fruit and ceramic fruits baskets. So cute. But last fall when spring was 75% off I got a lemon table runner & 8 lemon-shaped placemats, so I will do the lemon theme. In our sm. town of 500, we just got our 1st store a Dollar General last Sept. We are thrilled, but, it is sm. and doesn't have everything you show,.. I have a covered front porch and last yr. I got a used ice-cream table w/4 chairs, metal/glass/wood. Excellent condition for $100. They wanted $150. So I got Bee placemats & napkin rings & yellow napkins for that table. So it should be a fun summer! Thxs, Val.

I love your DG walk through but at the same time I get frustrated bc our DG are like walking thru a jungle. Everything in boxes sitting in isles constantly while nothing is on the selves. There's no way they are making money on decor bc it doesn't get put out in time in the seasons it should. So sadly the stuff you show we may never see. 😔 Loved all the 🍓 stuff. Farm strawberries here in South Louisiana & my grandmothers kitchen is in 🍓 so ill keep my eye out, thanks😊

Thanks for sharing, Val. DG has always gotten some of my $ for about 7 years now!! They really have nice decor and seasonal items. Especially when it goes on sale, too. Loved the cake stand, the fruit towels and plates, and the pillows you put together. Very nice. Looks like I will be heading there soon. Lol!

Gosh I'm always amazed at what you gals on YT find at Dollar General. The stores in my area have nothing like what you find. It's usually a disappointing trip and I swear I am done with DG. After seeing videos like this I go in again thinking maybe this time I'll find something cute. Nope. But thanks for sharing your great finds.

I’m like you and I really only go to Dollar General for the decor items (although I saw your recent video about cleaning items, so I will have to check that out next time I go!) and it seems like whenever they have any kind of bogo sale that the items never ring up correctly for the second item. That’s the only issue I’ve had, but it’s happened several times🤷♀️

I have a blue kitchen and I usually do dish towels and things in navy/owl print. But I am definitely going to get the blueberry ones for spring/summer

I feel as though the Dollar General might be taking over Doller Trees' clientele. Especially, where DT reputation for being a consistent 1.00 is being put to the test. People like myself are seeking other options.
I'll take you up on that challenge. Please, come decorate my home from Dollar General. It wouldn't cost much. I live in a one bedroom home. Although, my decor style is French Country. I know you were joking, but it would be a wonderful challenge.

I agree on the clutter. You have to pull carts away to get to what you are wanting.
Because they only one or two people working they also stock the store one by me only has one working doing both jobs
Our $general is great we even have a small fruit and vege isle and frig full of frozen things etc
Have not shopped in DG for several years, got tired of being ripped off and how dirty they are. I have at least 9 within 30 miles of me and they are all like that. They delibertly ripp you off.
Limes are the only fruit that might go with my decor (lots of pink roses).

The butter dish is large so the lid will clear the stick. It’s not meant to hold a stick that large.
Not sure where you live but I cannot believe the neatness and orderliness of your DG. Every one I have been in, through 3 states are filthy messes. Even if they carried what you show, you couldn’t find it. Things are just thrown on shelves.
Are the dishtowels microfiber?

My dollar store always have a cheaper price on the shelf but, at the counter it’s higher!

I’ve had to boycott my DG now for almost 2 yrs since a new mgr came. She is the nastiest! Hates us couponers, is so rude. Passes down her attitude to employees. Anyone nice, polite doesn’t last long there. It’s saved me a lot of money though.😉

How cute would the batter bowl in 0:49 be for an Alice In Wonderland thened party? 🫖 The whole collection would fit, honestly! I must say, the one thing I absolutely do not understand is the fake lemons. Why not buy real lemons? It is a thing you always need anyway, so you already probably have real lemons in your fridge... I don't like the idea of extra plastic laying around when you could use the real deal!
