Volcano lake, I like that idea 😀The light colour fascia works with the colour of your scenery.

Looks great, I tried the spray foam myself once and got it totally wrong but think I’ll try again. The face boards really finish it off. I need to find a thin wood at home to do the same, will try to hunt down thin MDF or equivalent, plywood is insanely expensive these days.

For the spray foam between layout and the board you want low expansion (window and door) and put it on sparingly.
For mountains you want highest expansion. Best value.
The board is called Masonite or hardboard. It is 1/8” thick (they have thicker and it doesn’t flex as much) it is 15$ Canadian a sheet at Home Depot. And they cut it in their 4x8 saw down to 5” strips for me.

Thanks. Heading home today from Savannah, my bags are already stuffed with one small LGB locomotive, N scale building flats and a gaggle of Kato ATSF loco’s, corrugated sides, NYC set, SP Alcos and decoders.
