Just been to help a friend who was stranded with this exact problem. Watched your video and hunted around the car for a knife. None to be found but I did find a lollypop stick. Did exactly as you said and it started first time. Whilst starting the car I noticed that the key card had a small piece of velcro on it just where you say the coil is. Turns out she has had the problem before and a local garage 'fixed' the issue with this 1cm square piece of velcro. Bravo to them as these gallant boys came to the rescue on that day and bless them, they only charged her £300!

I found just firmly squeezing the key card with my fingers around the area you indicated for the coil worked better than the knife - also less embarrassing when you have a passenger! The key doesn't actually need to be in the slot to get it started.
Thats for the feedback. If your model does not need the card in the slot then I can see how squeezing the card works and it no doubt will for some. In my model though, with the card "needing to be in the slot", the knife is replicating putting pressure on the sensor with you fingers so is needed. My method in the video will vary from model to model I imagine.

Great way to get out of trouble if the key stops working and you are on then road. Once you know the problem it is quite easy to open the key and solder the coil joints that come off. In Rome I had it done on one key for 35€. I did it myself on the spare key and took 10 minutes, with the help of a cutter and soldering iron.
Glad to be of service! Look into a new key card though if you want to get more life out of the car. This solutions won't last forever. Didn't for me anyway!

This worked many times, before eventually it stopped and I had to replace the card! Handy to know though as the cards are delicate if dropped (like i do)

This is a quick fix that works by squeezing the internal antenna coil onto the circuit board.

Hah! Thanks! I didn't have a knife but with this video I learned about the coil, so I rubbed the keys between my hands to warm it up and it worked !
