Man I really appreciate that you're not one of the elitist repair people that get super upset when homeowners or other mechanically/electrically inclined people attempt to resolve their own issues. You're polite and helpful, and you clearly understand that homeowners aren't trying to sabotage you before you show up. Many of these folks are just trying to save what little money they have and fix their own problems if possible.
    Kudos, brother.

Happy holidays Steve, before I retired I work for the city in Detroit and came across a lot of sabotage on the job. Most of the time we had to work with what we had, if I had a switch with that type and the connection was broken off I would take the tip of a exacto knife break it off and was able to stick it in where the connection broke off. I hope this helps you never know when the trick will come in handy, best regards Wolfie

Steve, I will give you a tech tip for once. Use your manometer and check the inches of WC on the hose going to the pressure switch from the inducer. It should be roughly double what the pressure switch is rated for. If its not, then you have a blockage in the exhaust pipe. I can usually troubleshoot a system like that within 15 minutes.

    • @scuffycat

My favorite preschool calls is when the toilets for the whole school wing are backing up into the building and everyone swears no baby wipes are going down the toilets. One of these days I’m going to leave the wad of wipes we pull out on the snake in a zip lock bag taped to the wall for proof.

that reminds me when I was 3 or 4 in day care; the neighbor would watch 8 or 10 of us, and they had an oil burning boiler to heat the house. out back, us kids were really interested in the oil filler pipe for some reason, I think because it had a metal cover on top that was hinged, so you could lift the cover up and fill it with oil. anyways, we stuffed all kinds of things down the pipe, like sticks and rocks and a few glasses of kool aid. needless to say, they weren't too happy in the fall when it was heating season and all that stuff was in the tank and pipes!

Dear Steve. the Day care centre probably started as a large house,
then made into a day care centre.
I would lift the intake & exit ports to bring it up to standard. the intake
port is all ready sucking moisture into the unit rusting out the chamber,
Having an exhaust port at at child height is enough to have the childcare
centre shut down is the gas Co2 entering the playground aria.
or you may install a new unit when it fails next time.
I love watching you solve problems, Mis Molly & the Chooks the only GIRLS

He put a white nylon stocking over the inlet pipe on the out side of house. It was raing that day stocking got wet, yup, no heat. Removed stocking it worked. Felt sorry for him, no charge for the 5 minuted call. Nice video, just brought memories.
