    Hey guys great game. My 2 favorite things, Steven's psychedelic shirt and Zach's Spiderwoman deck. I like how obsessed Zach is with ally Hulk! My first SW deck was also leadership/Aggro, using cheap cards to utilize her agility.

    "Justice being the object of said proposition" this is why I watch you guys.

  • @Murkglow
    @Murkglow Před 3 lety +2

    Justice is, in my mind, not the aspect of threat removal (though it does do that fairly well) but of long term permanent investment (with an offshoot of short term threat prevention like Foiled, which seem tailor made for Tony). More than nearly any other aspect, with Justice you play down cards that produce value every turn for the rest of the game. Beat Cop, Skilled Investigator, Interrogation Room, all come down and do their thing turn after turn. With Leadership, while you do invest looking toward future value, it always eventually comes to an end. Allies run out of life, Rapid Response discards itself, ally buffs fall off when the ally dies. There are a few exceptions (Team Training) but for the most part this holds true. You need to keep reinvesting in it (Make the Call, more Rapid Responses, more Allies) to keep reaping the benefits. Same but even more so with Aggression which is even less about the long term and more about immediate value (A lot of event cards). Protection is frankly its own thing and not exactly an aspect recommend for most heroes (I like Protection Cap, though you can make Cap nearly anything and he'll do well).
    As such, I like Justice on Heroes who either A) want the game to go long and/or B) have their own thing they want to be doing but want support to help them get there or make them better while they are at it (or C) are Tony Stark and want Alter-Ego threat prevention). She-Hulk falls into both camps for me. She wants to flip every turn to get value and the longer the game goes the more free value she gets. She also wants support to help her during her low hand size Hero turns, which all those permanent Justice support/upgrade cards help with. Even her built in thwarting (Law Division and Alter-Ego Objection) is more of a long term benefit rather than a short game boost. All of that says Justice to me.

    Really enjoyed watching this, definitely going to try out a Spiderwoman aggression/leadership build. One minor rules nitpick- encounter cards need to be revealed and resolved one at a time. When you guys have multiple, you seem to pick them all up at the same time, which could give you information that could inform your reaction to the first encounter card. For example, let's say the first one in going to cause the villain to attack, but you see the next one is the Exhaustion treachery card. A player might decide to defend the attack, knowing that their identity is about to get exhausted by the next card anyway. I'm not saying you guys are doing that, but someone watching the stream might think that you're allowed to look at all your encounter cards first and then decide how to handle each one.

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, we're just doing them one at a time as per the rules. Technically you could peek at the next one, hopefully neither of us are!

    In defense of "To the rescue." - I am a relatively new player with a low card pool. I bought the core when it came out but struggled to get my wife to play it with me. So it sat around a while until I just started playing it solo in the last few weeks.
    I've picked up some hero packs but have only really played 10 or so games at this point. "To the rescue" enables me to play heroes like Thor solo, without only being forced to play justice or leadership. Basically it's only existence is solo play where you have no other good means of threat removal. Paying 2 for 2 threat removal isn't that good, but paying 2 to get rid of a side scheme that screws you while still using your hero/ allies to do other things. That's better. In solo Rhino can go from 1 threat to 7 and you lose the game in one turn if you hit an advance while your in alter ego. To the rescue basically reads: get rid of that thing that makes you draw an extra encounter card, or prevents you from dealing with the main scheme. Not a great card, but it has its uses.

    • @MegiDolaDyne
      @MegiDolaDyne Před 3 lety

      Even then, though, over time we're getting more allies that can thwart for at least 2. In Basic alone we've got Nick Fury and War Machine already and Miles Morales is coming. Aggression has reasonable threat removal with Chase them Down and "You'll Pay For That!" It's pretty much just Protection that can't beat side schemes, so I guess it's a card you play if you're using specifically Protection and don't have a 2 thwart hero for solo play.

      Ok just tried this deck (or similar with some minor modifications) and playing expert kang and wow it's OP. I'm playing with my friend (she-hulk) and the last game we played on normal i was captain america protection and we barely won with 6 acceleration on the main scheme for last stage of kang. That was really difficult. After we beat that we tried expert and tried this deck and we're breezing through it so far. With captain marvel and spider-woman as 1-2 punch on stage 2 of kang i managed to kill him when he had 17 hp left where marvel did like 9 damage and I had like 4 stats for spider-woman, so did 8 damage while using her glide. We made it to the last stage with just 1 acceleration. I've been using spider-woman wrong before, I always tried to do everything with just herself ignoring captain marvel. I love her now.

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah that's basically right! Zach has been doing all villain cards in the same sleeves so its easy to switch them back and forth. We've actually been doing that for our hero cards as well so we can quickly swap in and out of aspects.
      Black sleeves = all hero cards in deck
      White sleeves = all villain cards in deck
      Clear sleeves = all heroes and villain forms

    I have a question for Spider-Woman. In the core-set there is a rule saying you Van only have one aspect pr game. Does this mean you can’t play 4 player with spider-woman ore does her aspects don’t count for this rule at all??

    • @teamcovenant
      @teamcovenant  Před 3 lety +1

      Not sure where that comes from, but you can have multiple of the same aspect in a game. You could play all four heroes as Aggression if desired. Out of the Core Set its not possible to do that given the card pool, which is probably why they recommend only having one hero of each aspect. But per the rules, there are no restrictions there.

    Seems like Endurance and Downtime should be an auto-includes for She Hulk, because it makes a 13-14 point Gamma Slam a real possibility. That's really what makes She Hulk good in protection. She can block, block, block, soak and then Gamma Slam for 14, flip down, and recover. Object, recover, flip up and repeat.

      @MegiDolaDyne Před 3 lety

      @@kylelooper2156 I could get behind Endurance, but Down Time seems pretty questionable. For Down Time to actually do anything, you have to recover twice without any wasted healing, and then you'd have to take enough damage for the extra healing to matter. Otherwise you might as well have played any other card.

    • @kylelooper2156
      @kylelooper2156 Před 3 lety

      @@MegiDolaDyne You really want to be in a position to swing and soak damage and be ready when you draw that Gamma Slam to do maximum damage. With Downtime, She Hulk can recover 14 before flipping up. That's 4-5 turns of damage and soak (12-15 damage without additional cards), enough time to draw into a second Gamma Slam for another 12-15.
      She Hulk wants to maximize damage and soak, which requires that she stay in hero mode as long as possible.
      She does great damage all the time. She should be punching and setting up for her ultimate, then resetting and doing it again.
