- In this video I'll be unboxing warner bros. latest release of Blade Runner 4K Film Vault edition and comparing with Titan's of Cult's Blade Runner 4K steelbook boxset. I'll give my detailed thoughts on both editions and which one I think is most worthy of a place in your blu ray collection…

I've been a fan of Blade Runner since I saw it on TV in the mid 80's. Bought it on multiple formats more times than I would care to admit over the years. Must have seen it well over 100 times now. Would you believe that I only just noticed the bloody great unicorn in the background in Sebastian's apartment when I re-watched it last month?! One thing to bear in mind if you're looking to pick up one of those briefcase sets: The regular DVD set is packaged differently to the other formats. The discs come in a lovely digipak with similar artwork to the old "Ultimate Collectors Edition," whereas the other formats present them in standard plastic cases.
You know now that you mention it... I can't remember it either!? 🤣 I'll definitely be looking for it next time though. That's interesting re. the dvd version having the nicest packaging. That may just sway it for me. I was looking at the DVD version as it seems a bit more readily available and slightly cheaper. I'll pin your comment for anyone else interested mate. Both editions are great. The Vault edition has very good extras, however is missing the soundtrack CD to be a true collectors fan edition. As for the Titans of cult, the highlight is the steel book artwork. Is superb.

Get the 30th anniversary blu ray collectors edition mate. Comes with a model spinner and all the cuts on Blu-ray!

I like both sets Andy but while The Film Vault is clearly a better set of collectibles, the Titans of Cult has that lovely steelbook. Only solution is to have both. Now I have the original 4K release of Blade Runner which came in a digibook type of thing and had a little paperback book with shots from the film through one half and then I think it's storyboards in the other half. That's nice to have but it also has four different discs included which have every version of the film. I guess you'll have to find one of those now too! It's good to see so many other people I know commenting on here. What a good bunch of film enthusiasts. John.
I agree with you John, having both is the way to go 😊 I can't think of the set you mean but you have now sent me down a rabbit hole looking for it! 😩 Does it have the unicorn on it like the envelope within the film vault edition? And are the other versions on 4K discs too? 🤔 That would be something though would settle even for dvd. I definitely would like the other cuts in some form. @@ElectricGeek I need to get that Blade Runner box out and have a look at it Andy. I must have shown it in my 4K review back in May 2020 though. 'The Final Cut' version of the film is 4K but the rest are all Blu-ray. I watched the original version on one of the Blu-rays and I still think it is the most successful version of the film but I just like looking at it and don't really need the commentary telling me what the hell is actually going on. How anyone ever understood it without the commentary though is beyond me!

HMV have a lot of Bladerunner special editions for £3.49 at moment, Travel Poster Edition looks good.
I have standard Final Cut edition from years ago, box has hopefully been recycled into something nice.
That vault editon is massive, imagine having full collection of those.

I know the travel poster slip u mean. I have given thought to collecting the different slips but where do u stop? There are loads of blade runner releases! 😅

Personally i would pay £5 more and have a steelbook instead of a cd case type. The size of the film vault is crazy and to put a cd case inside beggar’s believe.
I prefer the Manta lab above these two though.
The manta lab looks cracking but it’s currently going sealed on ebay for £499.99 so i guess i’ll make do with what i’ve got for now lol I agree that the film vaults could do with a steel also. The cd wallets cheapen them a bit. I don’t mind but i would prefer a steel. Cheers for watching mate 👍

I have to admit I preferred the film vault edition myself. I know it's an expensive set but the one thing that people don't Factor in when it comes to the price is the rarity factor that you get with that edition and that alone will put up the price. I do love the Titans of cult release myself and I'm so happy to have both of them in my collection. As for the Briefcase edition I have been trying to pick that up myself for the last couple of years. Like yourself hopefully I can pick it up. Another fantastic video Andy and thanks again for sharing

@@ElectricGeek I was gutted, I think the DVD Tin edition is very nice and worth buying its got a nice lenticular film cell block inside, can be had cheap now, I'll tweet you a pic of it
@@NiceGuyAidey I bet you were! 😩 There seem’s to be some many different variations of that 2007 release. I’m definitely open to different options. I’m not too bothered about having the other cuts on DVD. Just to have them is the main thing
Nice indepth video bud. I'll be skipping all of the Film Vault editions simply due to the box size.
I'm an avid Scarface fan and I wanted that version because the 35 anniversary edition seems a bit plain. I wanted the Film Vault version, but that massive box size just takes up too much space and will stand out too much on my shelf. Not for me :P

Yeah I totally get this badger. Great if you have the space but once you buy all 4 especially that's gonna take up a whole shelf for just 4 films. Not to mention there will likely be more.
Scarface is the only one I don't have on 4K so was thinking about that one myself. I like them all though 😩

cheap cardboard packaging is always a let down
It’s not really cardboard, more a cheap plastic the box of the TOC, although can confirm their new 2.0 box for gladiator is a big improvement 👍. Thanks for watching mate 😃

Is that briefcase one in the video mate? Or the 4k with the unicorn? I eventually got the metal in with the 5 cuts on dvd at least for a £10 in cex. I covered it in a later video 👍
