    I used to have back pains, was overweight and sufferd hypertension. I rowed it all off. Dark horse and training tall helped me a lot in mastering the machine. By far my best investment, in time and money, ever.

    I have used my rower, bike and elliptical for 7 years now and last year I got the greatest hack, Occulis VR. Now I can kayaking or canoeing on a river, in the Arctic, in Thailand, over a waterfall. Awesome best thing I added to my cardio days!

    Thanks. I just received my concept 2D black. It was my goto equipment at the gym. Covid 19 forced me to get my own. The best investment I made, I think.

    The greatest tip I ever received was not to use the foot straps - this helped me learn how to engage my legs during the drive (which I couldn't figure out how to do to save my life) and it also psychologically prevents me from leaning back too far which spares me back pain.

    I don’t have a concept 2 but I have an awesome rower where I can get workouts programmed for the tension to be increased or decreased so I dont even have to bother with the dampener. The other day I did a pyramid from 2 to 14 and back down for 40 minutes. The reason I brought this is up is because, if i have to keep changing my dampener I will always pick least resistance vs working hard and challenging myself in my workout. Also let's me see how if the tension is different, if my mechanics change and keeps me more mindful of my form and not pulling with my arms as much as pushing with my legs. Excellent video as always!!

    Great video Dean. The 'hacks' are great - especially the #3! As a Canadian, and when the temps warm up, the C2 lives outside and I row by the pool all summer. It's fantastic. Besides, the snow gets caught up in the flywheel, which then becomes a snowblower. Its a disaster. Keep calm, Concept 2 On eh!

    Thanks for the video! Would you change anything about the maintenance of the Concept2 rower if you keep it in your garage during the summer months (and bring it inside during the winter)? Based on your #3 tip - it appears to be just fine if you keep it in the garage, right? I think the "Indoor" part throws people.

    Live in an apartment, without a balcony, so going outside would difficult. I put on CZcams videos that have all the nature sounds. Some people have even posted GoPro videos of them rowing in different bodies of water. I just close my eyes sometimes and visualize being on the water.

    Hey - I have very short Achilles’ tendons, as such it’s impossible for me to have much of a stroke if I need to keep my feet flat. Should I make some shims for the heels to enable my feet staying fully on the feet area? (Stretching won’t help)
    - also, I’m a cyclist who’s looking to complement his training with rowing, as it’s so time efficient compared to cycling & more power based. Any tips for cyclist? Or other specific sports for that matter..
    Thnx! Great Channel, getting a lot of value out of it!

    • @DarkHorseRowing
      @DarkHorseRowing  Před 4 lety +3

      There are plenty of people who use weight lifting shoes for this very reason (it has a built in shim basically) so yes that works. But also underlying that tells you you should be working on ankle mobility and ROM as well.

    • @DarkHorseRowing
      @DarkHorseRowing  Před 4 lety

      It’s looks great and I love that. As far as cushion goes it takes maybe 5% of the hardness off the normal seat. If you’re looking for cushion make sure you look at the hornet water sports options I’ve talked about in the past.

    • @DarkHorseRowing
      @DarkHorseRowing  Před 4 lety +4

      Try relaxing your grip. Often that's the easiest fix. After that, sweat management is a big part of it so using wide wrist sweat bands will keep sweat from rolling down your arms and on to your hands.
