    Network Rail said this:
"On the Sheringham branch line, engineers are gearing up to upgrade two level crossings. After the work is complete, the crossings will have automatic barriers so that users don’t have to phone the signaller to request access. This will help to boost both safety and performance. No trains will be able to run on Sunday 16 April and Sunday 23 April to allow part of the project to be carried out, so there will be bus replacement between Sheringham / Cromer and Norwich on these days".

That would have been Belaugh Lane and Coltishall Lane crossings near Tunstead on the main (non-heritage) line I believe. They were believed to have opened a few weeks back, so I'm planning a re-visit to the area for them. Quite when I'll be able to is another question.

Great video and crossing! I notice that there are some holes in the supports for the crossbucks, so I think your assumption that they originally had the extra chevrons for a second track, likely wherever these were originally installed, and were removed at some point. I'm guessing the one older alarm is just simply worn-out, which is why it's so quiet and squeaky.

Thanks very much! I didn't spot those holes in the crosses' supports to be honest. That older alarm doesn't sound at all during some activations as I passed it on the train twice and didn't hear it the first time at all.

@@SouthEastLevelCrossings I can believe it, the electronics inside are probably pretty well worn-out by this point, though with the other alarm being as loud as it is, it probably doesn't entirely need to be operational, I guess.
Amusingly, I filmed a crossing on the NS Revere Lead out in Scottsboro late last month (and only just recently posted the video) that had the bell at it irregularly starting and stopping while the crossing was active.
