One fascinating aspect of this division that I learned of is that during the most recent Winter Olympics the North and South teams competed together. For the women's hockey team, this presented a unique problem. Great video. As a Korean I really appreciate it. I hope this videos makes Americans realize that South Korea doesn't "thank" America for "helping" them fight the Korean War. America and the USSR created this war. You don't stab someone and give them painkillers and expect them to thank you, but it's a common US tactic.
Also, see 7:01. I hope you realize how careless and unethical America was in "installing capitalism". Rhee Seung Man, the first president of S Korea was a puppet installed by America to fight against communism. In that process, America murdered Kim Gu, a heroic leader of Korea at the time, to make this happen. see 7:08 Because without him dead, you cannot make a no-name American puppet become the president. The following dictatorships and coup d'etat also show that capitalism vs communism isn't exactly good vs evil. Not now, but especially not then. There were tons of anti-communist dictatorships that slaughtered ppl. I am saying this because the media often portrays communism and totalitarisn dictatorship as same. USSR at least cared about North Korea. They wanted the North to succeed with communism. US didn't give a fuck about the South.
Please respect Korea, both north and south. Please criticize the North correctly with the knowledge of its history. Please appreciate the South's pop culture while respecting its painful history.

Or done with no consideration on how those new borders could cause global problems in the future (like the Korean border).

What inspired you to be a history buff? Sorry if it's mentioned in a previous video. I just think you do a excellent job of creating, editing, and narrating while being historically accurate. The cherry on top is that all your videos give respect and insight to the topic and culture being discussed.

Man.. I spent two years in Korea (fun fact: I turned 21 there as well) and was actively ignoring all of the history lessons we were taught and spent most of my time partying and just enjoying the scenery as any naive young American with too much money on his hands would do. After watching this I feel embarrassed and remorseful for my lack of respect for their culture and history that we played such a heavy part in, especially with it being so recent! The only thing that intrigued me was being told that none of the trees there were over 50 years old because of the war but I just thought it was an interesting tidbit.. not a testament to the tumultuous and abhorrent bloodshed of yesteryear.
In my opinion, this video exemplifies the strength of humanity. The Korean people I had the pleasure of conversing and hanging out with were very optimistic, happy, relaxed, and incredibly welcoming to me and my other battle buddies, and the things mentioned in this video weren’t being complained about even remotely close to how my brothers and sisters that are Afro descendent still do about slavery 150+ years ago. C’est la vie 🤷🏾‍♂️

However, our situation was very different because Germany didn't´t have a civil war following WW2. Videos like this are important, because they show us that despite what the mainstream opinion might be, in a war there are no right and wrong sides. Especially a civil war. I´m just wondering how the two Koreas will ever be reunited and wether such a thing would be possible without another military conflict. Hopefully...
