I was once at CVS and this guy walked in and was shopping with this blue macaw on his shoulder. It was my first time seeing one in person. It was so stunningly beautiful. The macaw's blueness was like a peacocks- in sheen and the shade of blue.
I had 2 and blue died suddly of a heart attack he was as smart as your birds it takes just love and alt of caring they will react and answer to you .God bless you and your babies when bird died the other followed after 5 months ,I stilfeel my heart numb ir will never recover they both would call me mama and so many words they knew when to say things ,bless you
My mother -in-law just gave me a green wing macaw. HE is almost three and funny as hell! This is my first bird and for some reason he has really taken up with me. He bites everyone but me but he still scares me with that beak! I have had him a week already and i am definately attached to him already!
I know it's an old comment but GOOD FOR YOU! These birds are so much happier in your house being well cared for then the wild, where they risk death on a daily basis.
Right away. Well, as soon as they are comfortable. We have ours outside the cage as much as possible. We just took in two rescues last week, a Blue and Gold and a Catalina. They were fine to roam around the next day. And... there are no stupid questions.
I never would've thought one can be entertained by birds. That was funny! So cool! I remember as a teenager, while waiting outside for my gf, a "neighbor" whistled at me. I strolled closer to her neighbor's to get a glimpse of this girl. Turned out it was a parrot. My gf and her folks almost died of laughter.
For the people who are complaining. The birds are happy and much more safe than in a jungle where they can easily be hunted, killed by deforestation, or anything. A house is safe for any animal with loving owners.
If you look at this person's other videos you will see how well he or she is taking care of the birds. This person is almost spoiling them. Such good care. You can tell these birds are happy and secure. And guess what, I don't think they'll get killed by any predators in this person's house either.
Ya, they grew up together. Got them a few months apart. Both are males. We rescued a female scarlet two years ago and Kona and Rio are scared to death of her....she is one BIG scarlet. As far as bonding...you never know. If you, do keep them in the same room but separated for at least a month so they can get used to each other. Then slowly move their cages closer together and see how they react. Just be careful the first time they can make physical contact, could be a fight.
I'm sure it would just be fun watching them romp around in that room. I would love to own a whole bunch of birds like that to hang out with and enjoy but I could never care for them. Heck I doubt I could offer the level of care needed just for one which is what keeps me from getting one. Plus I live in an apartment, so that's not ideal. I just have to live with visiting with my parents' cockatoos for now I guess.
Your birds are just beautiful. I love how they get alone so will. It shows you spend a lot of time with them..thank you for the video..please make more..just love them!!
I owned a parakeet years ago and I am tempted to buy this bigger bird for sure! I just hear so many horror stories of birds going insane and loosing their feathers. I am sure they are ok with people who have to work 8 hours a day to be alone.
They are about 6 years old now and they have just picked up sounds over those few years. Not sure where most came from. I think they just experiment with making sounds and then repeat the ones that amuse them the most.
Shouldn't worry about the cost. With food, treats, shelter and toys. Not to mention Vet visits...it is like having a child for the rest of your life. They can live to be 50 to 80 years old. And the bigger they are the longer they live. So don't get one, just to say you have one. The cost is nothing compared to the love they give you FOREVER. But, to answer your question...the costs depends on what kind of bird you get, how old it is and whether it is a "problem" bird. Average About $1500.00
What awesome birds; macaws have always been a favorite of mine. One day I'd like to get one, but not until things are settled down a bit more :) Already have my sweet green cheek conure.
