Drew was just...incomparable in the part. Many could've done Big Edie creditably...Susan Sarandon, Meryl Streep...but Drew IS Little Edie. Jessica Lange was perfect, though...

She is such a charming, likeable woman. I'm delighted that she has finally got her life back on track, she was superb in Grey Gardens as was Jessica Lange. It must have been a hard decision for the judges to choose between them and a shame that only one winner was possible, but at least jessica won the Emmy so hopefully there were no hard feelings!

She deserves it she worked hard on this movie is very challenging for both actresses that played Edie Little Edie big it's a great story and it's a true story of two women and it has its good and it's bad and sad and happy moments but in the end they both lived how they want it to and they left this world doing what they wanted and I'm glad they brought this out and let people know the true story of these two women and how they lived among the rest of the world 🌍 thank you again for sharing this with me movie absolutely great 😃😃😃👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍👍👍👍👍🌻🌻🌻🏵️🌹🌺🌸💐

I didn't know about the remake of Grey Gardens. I've only watched parts of the original. So when I saw a clip of this, I was Amazed to see that it was Drew Barrymore! I had no idea! That, is an awesome actress!!! Good for you Drew! You deserve it!
She was impressive in that movie, I wished she would make more movies like that rather than those Adam Sandler comedy.
I agree! She was born to play in RomComs but I believe there so much more there in untapped talent...absolutely! I fear many producers simply pigeon hole these actors and actresses. It took FOREVER for them to take a chance on Will Smith in dramatic roles. Lets hope they dont wait until Drews 75 before they take ANOTHER chance on her!

How awful to be up against Jessica Lange, they both deserved the award, but Jessica won the Emmy, so I wonder if there was some sort of behind the scenes rigging to ensure that both ladies were rewarded for their magnificent performances.

How can these actors and actresses be so good at acting and then fall apart when they have to get some award? It's really weird no confidence really. Must be as good director.
There's a difference between reciting lines from a script in front of a crew you're comfortable with and public speaking. Many people struggle with the latter, even if they're confident in their personal lives.
I'm not sure why it is but theater people are great at public speaking as themselves. I saw part of the Tony awards one year and the winners gave excellent, articulate acceptance speeches. Angela Lansbury was a speaker and she talked about how as a child she was taken to the Albert Hall in London to see and hear her grandfather, the head of the Labour Party speak. Miss Lansbury said it was her first experience of a live performance and (my best recollection of the words) that even then "...I knew what I would with my life. I knew....that I would become a politician". The audience loved it! Theater people are great talkers.

This was the only movie I saw her in where she was actually a talented actress. I grew up with her since E.T. and this HBO flick was her role of a lifetime to prove she had some acting chops (unlike those cheesy Sandler flicks). She deserved this award definitely by all means. The speech was a tad juvenile. Too bad her and Jessica could not of tied on this. They were both magnificent.

I want Drew Barrymore broke her typecast soon, she needs and requires serious and dramatic leading iconic roles like that one, she is suitable in that genres, i hope in a future, work along with the best directors, including Steven Spielberg(again!), Denis Villeneuve, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, Mel Gibson, David Fincher, Robert Zemeckis, James Cameron, Clint Eastwood, Ridley Scott, Paul Thomas Anderson, and many others. She is a very talented actress and is on the walk of fame, she won a golden globe for Grey Gardens, now she must get the glory in her career, the oscar. If she win an oscar in a leading role, i'l die very happy or maybe i'l became very psycho.
