For all those who don't know about the ICG(Indian coast guard) it's established as an independent armed force of india under ministry of defence (MOD),many confuse it with paramilitary it isn't paramilitary it's an armed force of the union established in 1978 CG act. it was the request of Indian Navy to establish this force .
Facilities:
1.CSD facilities as same of army Navy ,air Force
2.medical facilities to the family's are well as serving personnel in any of the military hospitals,ex: MH
3. Accommodation in CG quarters.
4.50% off on airlines.
5.leave transit claim (LTC).
6.1st Priority to wards in kendriya vidyalaya schools for admission.
7. Officers and sailors get same military training from Indian Navy ,
Sailors from INS chilka and officers from INA(Indian naval academy)
Selection procedure is same as that of military selection,same medicals procedure

Agar kuch log ye samjhte hai ke koi uniform armed forces sirf gun fire se kaam karne mein khush hote hai.. no.. yahi vo log hai jo eik human life save karke bi khush hote hai.. or agar emergency disaster mein lakhon logo ko bachane mein apni jaan tak gwa dete hai.. yahi vo log hai jo us gun ke sahmne khade ho jate hai jisme se nikalne vali goli kisi retake ka time nahi deti.. or retake mein bi real bullet hi aayegi..salute to all forces of my country..

3:27 coast gaurd follow Military type names their ranks are prefix and they dont use Shri/Mrs, like Assam rifles cadre officers and men also use ranks as prefix. Only in CAPF designation is suffix.

Hey guys, it's a armed non military force, non para military force in ministry of defence. Its tough for people to understand.
Understand it like this, armed forces means which posses fighting & offensive capabilities.
Why its not a military force?
Because NATO conventions permit only three military forces viz army, navy, airforce.
Why its not a para military?
Paramilitary forces come under ministry of home affairs, while coast guard come under ministry of defence.
Why its a armed force?
Because it carries guns and weapons for prevention of smuggling, piracy and infiltration attempts which is part of its charter of duties I.e safeguarding and maintaining maritime law and assets of the country.

I wanna know the process behind the recruitment process of INDIAN COAST GUARD because i have applied three times and never got admit card once..??
It's based on merit selection and it's similar to indian army tes so you need to have good percentage

i think 50% staff of coast guard should be from coastal states/districts. similarly there should be just one Indian Border Guards, with 50% of its staff from border states/districts.
