Been loving it. Coming from sf6, mk1 then this game it’s pretty fun and easy to get into but damn I can see all the little different mechanics add to the depth of it.

Yeah despite the easy inputs there's still a ton of depth to GBVSR. I don't know how they pulled it off, but they did.

One note, the story mode has been reworked to remove all RPG elements and co-op has also been removed.
It's been made more streamlined presumably because the majority of the playerbase never bothered finishing it so they took out all the grind aspect and made it into a stage by stage flow without any loot game or character levels.
Unique boss fights are still there but they significantly reduced the amount of fights vs mobs. Hence now it's just called "story mode" instead of original's "RPG mode". This can be good or bad depending on what your preference is.
The ticket draw system is still here but what you get is instead weapon skins to be used in Grand Bruise.

      @DaikenFGC  Před 7 měsíci

Really? That’s such an interesting change… I honestly thought it was just an extra chapter expanding upon what was already there!
I wonder is it because they didn’t want to deal with F2P complaints on that matter? Or maybe they didn’t want to continue updating the raid boss mode!
NOOOW it makes sense why they announced that the final raid boss mode was goning to conclude its service in GBVS.
I know that maybe quite a bummer for some people but that Now-Fall roadmap has s lot of extra free updates coming from new game modes, new mini games, & more besides the pay for dlc characters. So I hope it makes up for the change!

      @@DaikenFGC
      yea I definitely hope so.
Judging by steam achievement completion rate, the percentage of people who finished RPG mode was extremely low so I'd imagine that's probably the reason for this change.
Admittedly, for players who only want to play it for the fighting experience, having such a drawn out RPG mode can be a chore. The new system is good for that type of player as it lets them go through the story once for the unlockables and never touch it again.
BUT, this does mean there is a lot less value for players who only want to play this game for the single player experience.
For me, I played both online versus and the RPG mode. Disappointed that I couldn't do coop in this one but at the same time, the online fighting is just magnitudes better than the original so I know I'll still get my money's worth of game time. However, even then, I feel the removal of coop is absolutely unnecessary. Removal of grinding I can understand, but no reason to remove coop imo.
I am curious what they have in the works for this "new game mode" shown on their roadmap.

i miss the old rpg mode, altho i wouldnt mind it as much if things like char choice, preselection carrying over and coop mode still being in there. the only thing i disliked about the previous rpg mode was the amount of filler quests (especially the autoscroll ones)

That sounds way better. I hated the number of mob fights and grinding. I like a robust story in my fighting games sure, but like all that other stuff just made me not want to play it. That and the online pushed me away from the OG game and rising looks to fix both my problems all at once!

There is a lot to do and picking a character that you connect with was easy and not forced like in SF or MK. I’ll be playing this game religiously until Tekken hits but will definitely be in my second slot of fighting games.

As someone who played the first game and mainly Strive, Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising absolutely hits that itch. Its fun for button mashers like myself and those who want a chill experience like Grand Bruise and lobby parkour as well. This game has been the game that has been dragging me from playing other games like Overwatch 2 and Valorant.
To compare for my love for Strive, it is a game as you described in the beginning. Very arcadey and not a lot going on. I play SF6 and while that is a great game, ehhh... I feel like their first crack at a story like World Tour fell flat on its face with the difficulty spikes it has. Outside of that, it still has that arcadey feel to it. I feel like the only other game I would play with Granblue is DNF Duel (yes, I am still 1 of 7 people who still play that game).
Also, the Free Version was a HUGE call to make. This not only gives us an outlet to understand how a Free to Play Fighting game (that isn't KI or an indie game) could work. It also can set a standard for other games having a free to play version that ISN'T just a demo or what we could look forward to when Project L drops since that will be Free to Play as well. The only problem I have with the free version is that they should have been able to allow people to transfer save data since Part 1 is only available and allow Room Lobbies instead of meeting up in a lobby.
Besides that, I feel like Arc Sys and Cygames has really knocked it out of the park. I was afraid this game was going to be the third iteration of what was Overwatch to Overwatch 2 and CS:GO to CS2. The common denominator being the same game with a 5% difference. No, GBVSR plays differently, more systems, more things to actually do, and overall just a fun experience. It is such a HUGE reversal of fortune from the first GBVS, because the pandemic killed all hope for that game to be a thing anymore given its netcode and everything.
I hope this game get way more time buzz as well like it is getting now. I hope Cygames continues to treat this game well especially with Granblue Fantasy: Relink on the horizon as well too and not like another company that left its very fun game in a rut for a whole year before it died online (*cough cough Nexon cough cough*). Loved this video a lot!

One of the very few things I dislike thus far is that rupies and the rupie shop are tied to online mode. And,I guess, the fact that there isn't a way to farm more rupies that isn't as slow as character levels and as limiting as daily challenge (maybe there isn't ans I haven't found it yet).
If only rupie shop and character level rupie gain rewards were made to be in offline mode as well..
That would be a very well appreciated change.

I followed the Granblue IP for a long time now and I am really enjoying the game... as free edition. It has no regional pricing so on most countries is just too expensive and even if I could commit to it I don't know how much its lifespan will last considering how many other fighting games monsters are out there. Outside of that is a pretty good game, a genuine upgrade from the previous entry and rollback is one of the better ones I've tried

I have been loving the game. I preordered the deluxe edition months ago because the second they announced rollback for GBVS in the form of a new version I knew I had to have it. The only big gripes I have are with the free version, I would have preferred either an option to pay a little money to turn the account into a "VIP" and allow access to stuff like joining private lobbies via invite and/or the ability to purchase singular characters if a player wants to do so and not pay full price for the game. I think this would allow players who have friends trying the game to have a space where they can practice and help show them the ropes rather than go into the main lobby and sit at competing arcade cabs (this is not the worst as you can join a lobby with a low population and use the jump pads to get to a more secluded set of cabs if necessary). Otherwise the game feels great and the added stuff like the crane game to add skill to your gacha is nice, and grand bruise is fun though I think the coolest part of the avatar stuff is actually the exploration with the jump pads and gliding around, I really would like to see that expanded because it is fun to just run around with friends and explore into the sky and having more platforms with some interactable elements would make that feel even better.

I get you on the F2P suggestions. Its concept is still heavily unexplored in the fighting game genre. Im just glad it was there for those people who needed it or wasent going to play without it being a thing!
I also cant wait to see what the roadmap have in store for us. They are adding so much more to this game all from now until fall which is crazy!

@@DaikenFGC yeah, I like that it is there for my hesitant friends but I hope they do a bit more to monetize it that way it offers a budget option because I also love this game and I think it is a great new player recommendation game. Maybe even more than SF6 given that it has stuff like grand bruise and the rewards for just playing (including the dailies). I love that you don't have to win matches to earn things, that sold a friend on it right away because they love playing but their experience with fighting games is lose a bunch of games and feel shitty where here they are always able to at least get some levels on their character and crane game pulls.

I despise most fighting games. I don't enjoy their excessively competitive nature and the skillgaps between new players and older players. This in turn leads to new players leaving and all that's left for matchmaking is the older players who know the game and the character, everything's largely a stomp because the skillgap is several miles wide.
There's still a skillgap in GBVSR because of course there is, but it's less wide apart because of the easy inputs and wonderful wonderful rollback. This in turn means more people who are newer to the game are still playing it, and that means you don't have to stress a year out of your life just to win once in a day. Unlike stuff like Tekken this is completely approachable for newer fighting game players, you can spend a couple minutes in training using a character of your choice and then yeet yourself into online play. That's just... so refreshing.
I really really hope this game lives for a long time and that people keep on playing it for years. I haven't cared about anything in the modern gaming market for 6 years, yet all I want is for this to succeed.

I think they did the story really dirty. The story pacing is too fast, like they barely did anything and everything seems to be resolved. Its not like they are trying anything new, the visual novel mode is almost exactly the same with the mobile game, so I'm not sure why the fighting game story's quality is so different with the original mobile game.

The game is already praised for its characters, content and many more (OMG the ost).
