  • New apartment complexes are going up around the Triangle, but some of the units might still be out of financial reach for many people.

When I first moved to the area it was $850 for a single bedroom, now it's more than double

Same thing in Denver area. You can make 70 thousand a year, and not qualify for a 1BR apartment. Ridiculous.

Yep, I work for the State and I’m considering leaving because I can’t afford to live here. Public service doesn’t pay.

The zoning laws need to be fixed to allow building higher density housing to match demand.

Yeah well it's all legal and there is nothing to stop landlords from charging whatever the market will bear. This is called capitalism and it's what Americans want. To get as rich as possible in any way whatsoever. There is nothing illegal about it and as long as you are against socialism, this will continue. The government has no authority to step in and tell landlords what they are or are not allowed to charge.

For every solution is a regulation. Stone, brick, tile, a few timbers. A hand pump, a wood cook stove and an out house, plant a garden. Make soap and honey and goat cheese. Sell and trade it and all your neighbors do the same and own a gun. That would be beautiful
